Vadim Lyalin, Denis Migal, Igor Pashevich and Nikolai Sharlap (swing four) finished third in the B final with a score of 6:00.57. They were surpassed by crews from the USA (5:59.20) and Greece (6:00.56). At the Games in Rio, the Belarusians took the final ninth place.

Stanislav Shcherbachenya took second place in the semi-final singles heat with a score of 7:06.69 and made it to the final heat. First place in the swim was taken by New Zealander Mah Drysdale (7:03.70). Third - Belgian Hannes Obreno (7.06.76). This trio will compete for medals in the decisive race, which will take place on Saturday, August 13, starting at 16.32 Belarusian time. From the second heat, Czech Andrei Synek (6:58.56), Croatian Damir Martin (6:59.43) and Cuban Angel Fournier Rodriguez (7:02.65) advanced to the final.

Ekaterina Karsten (singles) with a score of 7:48.89 took fifth place in the semifinal heat and was eliminated from the fight for medals. The Belarusian missed the third position by more than three seconds: Austrian Magdalena Lobnig, who filled the last final vacancy, covered the distance in 7:45.48. On Saturday, August 13, Karsten will take part in the draw for 7th-12th places in the B final. Also starting in this race are Miroslava Topinkova-Knapkova (Czech Republic), Fi Udby Eriksen (Denmark), Carling Zeeman (Canada), Kenya Lechuga Alanis (Mexico) and Barbara Thorneycroft (Zimbabwe). Yuri Shcherbatsevich dropped out of the race in qualifying, scoring 622.1 points and finishing in 18th place. The German Henry Junghanel, who completed the final eight, scored 624.8 points.

Nikita Tsirkun ("RS:X") competed in the final three races of the preliminary round, finishing in 24th, 18th and 17th places. A total of 12 races took place at the preliminary stage. The total points of the 19-year-old Belarusian are 247 (the sum consists of the places taken in each race: the lower it is, the better). This corresponds to 22nd place in the table. After 12 races, out of 36 athletes, only the best 10 received a pass to the final. They will fight for medals. Circun finished his performance at the Olympics.

Tatyana Drozdovskaya (Laser Radial) took 27th and 31st places in the seventh and eighth races of the preliminary round. The Belarusian's total points after eight races are 92 (the sum is made up of the places taken in each race: the lower it is, the better). This corresponds to 22nd place in the intermediate table. After 10 races, the 10 best athletes will be determined, who will compete for medals in the final swim. The final two races of the preliminary round will take place on Saturday, August 13th.

Daria Naumova brought Belarus's first medal at the Rio Games, winning silver in the up to 75 kg category. The Belarusian lifted 258 (116+142) kg in the double event. Only the DPRK representative Li Dong Sim (DPRK) worked with higher weights - 274 (121+153) kg.

Petr Asayenok lifted 377 (170+207) kg in the finals of the competition, which allowed him to take sixth place. Pavel Khodasevich from Borisov finished seventh with a result of 365 (170+195) kg. Both Belarusians were far from the medal scales: bronze medalist from Romania Gabriel Sincriani (Romania) lifted 390 (173+217) kg.

SWIMMING

Women. 50m freestyle

Alexandra Gerasimenya (50 m freestyle) successfully overcame both the qualifying (time - 24.42) and semi-final (24.53) barriers. The Belarusian made it to the final with the eighth time. The fastest person to cover the distance in the semi-finals was the Dane Pirnille Bloom - 24.28. The final will take place on the night from Saturday to Sunday and will begin at 4.03 Belarusian time.

Yulia Khitraya did not even qualify for the semifinals, showing the 27th result in the distance (25.18). The qualifying time for the semi-finals is 24.82.

Alena Dubitskaya showed the best result among the Belarusians: having put the shot at 18.23 meters in the final, she took the final eighth place. Elena Abramchuk is in eleventh place with a result of 17.37 m. Hungarian Anita Marton, who took third place, put the shot at 19.87 m. Another Belarusian Yulia Leontyuk took 17th place, failing to make it through the qualification sieve into the top 12.

Games debutant Alexander Lyakhovich (20 km race walking) finished forty-third, covering the distance in 1:25.04. The Belarusians were far from reaching the podium: the bronze medalist, Australian Dan Bird-Smith, completed the distance in 1:19.37. Another Belarusian Denis Simanovich, for whom this is already the third Olympics, did not finish.

Konstantin Borichevsky (long jump), jumping 7.67 meters, took 23rd place in the qualifications and completed his performance at the Olympics in Rio. To get into the top 12, you had to show a result of at least 7.85 meters.

Anna Malyshchik (hammer throw), having thrown her hammer 71.12 meters, took seventh place in the qualifications and received a pass to the finals, which will take place on August 15. But Elena Soboleva did not make it into the top 12 finalists, showing the 20th result - 67.06 m. Passing to the final gave a result of 70.30 m.

After the first week of competition at the Rio Olympics, Team USA remains the leader in medals. American athletes received 38 medals (16 gold, 12 silver, 10 bronze), with China in second place (30 medals) and Japan in third place (22 medals).

The Russian team won 19 awards and took 4th place, Ukraine - 27 (3 medals), reports the official website of the Olympics.

On August 12, changes will continue at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The Olympics are close to the equator, so in Brazil there is a gradual change in sports scenery. Spectators are saying goodbye to some sports, and getting to know others. Spectators will see the competition for the first time athletics and trampoline jumpers, but for the last time they will enjoy performances by judokas and archers. In total, 24 sets of awards will be played on Friday: four each in rowing and swimming, three in athletics, two each in cycling, judo, shooting and weightlifting. One more champion will be determined in equestrianism, trampolining, archery, tennis and fencing. August 12 is the third highest medal day of the entire Olympics, according to the official website of the sporting event.
