Whiskey weathering calculator. Norm of alcohol consumption. How to find your measure. What threatens a drunk driver

In the calculator, the calculation of the amount of alcohol in the blood is based on the world-renowned formula of the Swedish chemist Eric Widmark. For greater accuracy, an additional coefficient (k) has been introduced into the formula, taking into account the height of a person. It should be noted that the received answer in ppm is theoretically the maximum possible concentration of ethanol in the blood.

  • C - the maximum possible concentration of ethyl alcohol in human blood, ‰ (ppm);
  • A - the volume of the drunk drink, ml;
  • s is the strength of the drink,%;
  • m - body weight, kg;
  • k - human height, cm;
  • r is the Widmark distribution coefficient (0.70 for men, 0.60 for women).

The classic Widmark formula takes into account the amount of ethyl alcohol drunk. For ease of calculation, an additional coefficient (s) was introduced into the formula, taking into account the strength of the drink.

Dependence of coefficient k on growth:

Height, cm k value
120-140 1,0
140-160 0,9
160-180 0,8
180 and above 0,75

Note: do not confuse the amount of ethanol in the blood and in the exhaled air, these values may differ. Our calculator calculates the blood alcohol content.

Degree of intoxication

The online calculator calculates the degree of intoxication based on the amount of ppm obtained using the above formula. In the table below you can see how the degree of intoxication depends on ppm:

Why you need an alcohol calculator

First of all, our calculator will be useful to drivers. Based on the data obtained, it is possible to calculate the time after which you can drive without risk and undesirable consequences after drinking alcohol. This will allow you to feel more confident on the road and avoid inappropriate disputes with the traffic police.

The calculator is able to determine with a high probability how much pure alcohol has entered or will only enter the bloodstream after libations. This is very important and up-to-date information, because there are serious sanctions for drunk driving (fines and deprivation of a driver’s license for a long time). Also, our calculator is useful for those who want to know the dose of alcohol that will cause a certain degree of intoxication, which can be very useful during the festivities.

Degrees of severity of alcohol intoxication:

  • up to 0.5 ppm - no influence of alcohol;
  • 0.6 - 1.5 ppm - a mild degree of intoxication, characterized by dullness of sensations, disinhibition, extraversion, violation of the depth of perception, reasoning, peripheral vision, adaptability of the pupils.
  • 1.5 - 2.0 ppm - the average degree of intoxication, characterized by over-expression, anger or sadness, impaired reflexes, reaction time, basic motor skills, articulate speech; low risk of alcohol poisoning.
  • 2.0 - 3.0 ppm - a strong degree of intoxication, characterized by stupor, loss of understanding, severe motor impairment, memory loss, loss of consciousness.
  • 3.0 - 5.0 ppm - severe poisoning up to, characterized by severe depression of the central nervous system, loss of consciousness, impaired heartbeat, breathing, sense of balance; high risk of poisoning and death.
  • more than 5.0 ppm - in most cases, a fatal outcome.

How does the body get rid of alcohol?

So that it doesn’t happen, as in that joke where the traffic inspector stops the driver for speeding, and he justifies himself by saying: “Yes, I drank a bottle of vodka, I’m in a hurry to go home until I get lucky,” remember - the maximum ppm readings are reached after 0.5 - 2 hours after drinking.

The withdrawal time depends on the strength and amount of alcohol taken. And also from the "thoroughness" of biting.

Having reached the maximum indicator of intoxication, the body begins to slowly release itself from ethanol. It happens like this:

  • alcohol enters the bloodstream mainly from the stomach and intestines;
  • With blood, ethanol enters the liver, which breaks it down first into acetaldehyde, then into acid. At the final stage, acetic acid is converted into water, carbon dioxide and energy;

Up to 90% of alcohol is broken down in the liver. The more you drink, the longer this process takes.

  • 10% of ethanol leaves the body through the kidneys (with urine), through the lungs - with exhaled air and through sweat.

Scientists have derived an average indicator of how quickly ethanol can leave the body. This is 0.1 g for every kilogram of weight, or 1 g for every 10 kg per hour.

But it changes both under the influence of the organism itself, and due to external influences.

See the table for the average withdrawal time for certain types of alcohol. It takes into account the amount drunk, its strength and body weight.

How to speed up the excretion of ethanol?

  1. If you've been drinking relatively recently and feel like you're floating, the best methods are:
  • drink water - as much as you can, but not less than 1 liter and induce vomiting. It is better to cleanse the stomach 2-3 times;
  • in addition to vomiting, give an enema. If not much time has passed after the libation, with this technique you will get rid of the lion's share of ethanol.
  1. If health permits, go to the sauna (it affects the body softer than a steam bath). Three visits of 5 minutes is enough.

Carefully. A large dose of alcohol and a sauna is a dangerous combination

There are cases when, after libations, an ambulance took a drinker from a sauna directly to intensive care with a heart attack or stroke.

  1. Drink more pure water, and better - sweet herbal tea with a diuretic effect.
  2. An excellent detoxifier is orange juice or even water with apple cider vinegar (a spoonful of vinegar per glass of water).
  3. Get a good night's sleep by opening the window. This will help the body recover faster.

How to understand that you have already sobered up?

Take into account the possible error of the calculator in determining the time of complete elimination of ethanol from the body.

This is influenced by a number of factors: the state of the body, illness, consumption on an empty stomach, etc.

Therefore, even if the allotted time has already passed and you can sort of go on a journey by car, check for yourself the degree of your sobriety.

The fact that you are completely sober is evidenced by a combination of three factors. You can:

  • Loosely touch your finger to the tip of your nose with your eyes closed.
  • Walk in a straight line without stumbling.
  • Stand for 30 seconds on one leg.

How to use an alcohol calculator

The alcohol withdrawal calculator for motorists calculates alcohol in the blood and the approximate timing of its withdrawal. But the system does not calculate the interval until the ethanol is completely released, but until the amount of alcohol drops to the allowed rate. For this, a mathematical algorithm is used that takes into account the maximum allowable amount of ethanol and the average rate of its splitting per hour. Considering the individual indicators that the user enters, the accuracy of the result is very high.

To determine the amount of alcohol, the Widmark formula is used. The calculations underlying this system are used in forensics. To get the result, a fast and accurate alcohol calculator takes into account:

  • driver weight;
  • the amount of alcohol;
  • degrees of drinks.

Even the variety of alcohol is taken into account. Checking with the help of an alcohol counter consists in the fact that a person enters data into a form, after which the system shows the result: the user sees the degree of intoxication and the time for the normalization of the alcohol level. The stage of intoxication is displayed in ppm (‰) - this is an indicator by which the content of alcohol in the blood is determined.

What is ppm

A ppm is 1/10 of one percent of anything. In relation to alcohol, 1 ppm means that 1/10 of 1% of the total fluid in the body is pure alcohol (conditional strength of 100%).

In other words, in 1 liter of body fluid, the content of pure ethylene is 1 g.

All over the world, the services responsible for traffic safety have adopted this particular system for measuring the degree of intoxication of a person.

Products that increase the number of ppm

  • diabetes mellitus and gastrointestinal diseases can “give out” up to 0.1 ppm;
  • taken 40 drops of a medicinal tincture for alcohol (such as tricardine, barboval, etc.) - 0.1;
  • 8 chocolates (without alcohol) or 1 menthol, including cough drops - 0.1;
  • a dozen sweets with rum or alcoholized berries - up to 1.5;
  • non-alcoholic beer (0.33 l) - 0.1-0.2 ppm;
  • products involving alcohol or sour-milk fermentation (kvass, kefir, koumiss, etc.) - 0.1-0.3;
  • 1 overripe banana “gives out” up to 0.22 ppm;
  • juices - up to 0.4;
  • orange - 0.17 (which is already more than the permissible norm);
  • sandwich - black bread and sausage - 0.2;
  • freshly smoked cigarette – 0.2;
  • refreshing mouth spray can add 0.4 ppm at once. And if you still used it to mask the smell of alcohol, then you can say goodbye to the rights.

How much vodka cognac whiskey disappears

It’s not for nothing that we put them in one row, they have almost identical exit rates from the body, because they are all quite strong - 40% alcohol content. For such a test, we took the body of our young man (36 years old, 180 cm, 80 kg), yet we will not mock the girl. Also, we will not pour in "half a liter" of these drinks (after such a volume, you will not be able to stand on your feet). Let's take the boundary value, namely 350 grams, or a faceted glass + 100 gram glass. We look at the table.

It should be noted that even after 12 hours a little alcohol was recorded in the exhaled air, but the level was already acceptable. That's why in the morning after vodka (as cats "shit" in their mouths), not everything was gone, and only after 13 hours the level dropped to zero. But after 8 hours, there was still 0.62 ‰ in the exhaled air, so if you drank at 12 o'clock at night and go to work by 8 o'clock, then you CAN'T go by car! If residual phenomena.

Table per mille Effects of different levels of alcohol in the blood

The level of ethanol in the blood, ppm Feeling and Behavioral Disorders
0.1-0.29‰ In general, normal condition, the presence of alcohol in the blood is determined only by special tests
0.3-0.59‰ Slight euphoria, feeling of relaxation, joy, increased sociability, talkativeness, impaired concentration
0.6-0.99‰ Extraversion, disinhibition, unnatural fun, dullness of sensations, impaired peripheral vision, depth of perception, reasoning becomes incoherent
1.0-1.99‰ Expressiveness, unreasonable aggression, emotional lability, decreased libido, imbalance (staggering gait), slurred speech, impaired reflexes, delayed reaction, spontaneous erection (temporarily)
2.0-2.99‰ Loss of understanding, state of stupor, loss of sensation, possibly loss of consciousness, memory, impaired motor skills
3.0-3.99‰ The strongest depression of the central nervous system, loss of consciousness (uncontrolled urination, loss of a sense of balance, impaired heartbeat and breathing), there is a threat of death
4.0-5.0 ‰ Complete loss of control over one's behavior, loss of consciousness, risk of death (impaired breathing, palpitations, nystagmus)
More than 5.0 ‰ Risk of severe poisoning and death

It is believed that 0.5-1.5 ppm is a mild degree of intoxication that occurs in the first moments after drinking alcohol, 1.5-2.5 ppm is already an average degree, when euphoria and sociability are replaced by gloominess, rudeness and aggressiveness, can memory lapses occur. A strong degree of intoxication (2.5-3.0 ppm) - a violation of speech and coordination of movements, involuntary urination and loss of consciousness are possible. From 3 to 5 ppm is considered the strongest poisoning, which can lead to death. And the content of alcohol in the blood over 5.0 ppm is considered a lethal dose, leading to coma and death.

Online Blood Alcohol Calculator

According to the results of statistical studies, 30% of traffic accidents are caused by drunk drivers. In order not to be among them, it is enough to use this alcohol intoxication calculator to control your condition. He will quickly show online how much ppm is in the blood and when you can drive. Especially now, when the level of alcohol in the blood should be zero and it is very easy to lose your license. Thus, our calculator can be used as an alcohol calculator for drivers.

An alcohol calculator (or alcohol calculator) can be useful to determine the alcohol weathering time. By entering your weight and height, as well as the amount of alcohol drunk and its strength, and indicating whether the drinks were drunk on a full or empty stomach, you can find out after what time there will be no traces of alcohol in the blood. It is possible to specify up to 5 different drinks. Exact formulas allow you to determine how much alcohol disappears. Moreover, the calculator will show ppm in the blood after drinking, as well as the time to remove alcohol from the blood (the minimum is for people who are able to quickly process alcohol, the average is for most people and the maximum is for people who have a low rate of alcohol withdrawal).

The online alcohol calculator is designed for drivers and those who need to know the time for the removal of alcohol from the human body. A quick and accurate calculation of ppm in the blood and exhaled air is based on the E.M.P. formula. Widmark. As of 2019, the concentration of alcohol per liter of blood should not exceed 0.3 ppm.

Enter data into the calculator

Online blood alcohol calculator: instructions

In order to find out how much alcohol disappears from the body, use our calculator. To do this, select the gender, indicate the weight and the drink you drink. Please note that the first column indicates the strength of the drink (alcohol content) in degrees, and the second column indicates its volume. For example, they drank a bottle with 4.9% alcohol and a volume of 0.5 liters. Accordingly, in the first column we enter the value 4.9, in the next - 500. We press the "Calculate" button and we get an instant result in the form of ppm and the time for removing alcohol from the body. Also, you can specify several drinks using the "Add drink" button.

Please note that the data obtained using a calculator cannot be evidence in court and a subject for challenging examinations or a breathalyzer. The above results may not correspond to reality and show only an average value, since the time for removing alcohol from the body is individual for each person!

When can you drive after drinking alcohol?

As of 2019, according to the note to article 12.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, in the presence of ethyl alcohol in a concentration of 0.16 milligrams per liter of exhaled air, or in the presence of absolute ethyl alcohol in a concentration of 0.3 or more grams per liter of blood in the human body, administrative or criminal liability.

Thus, having obtained an accurate result with the help of a calculator (ppm and weathering time of alcohol), we look at when you can drive a car.

The degree of intoxication of a person

  • Up to 0.5‰ - no effect of alcohol on the human body.
  • 0.5-1.5‰ - corresponds to a mild degree of intoxication . Appears in the first minutes of drinking alcohol. It is characterized by relaxation of the whole body, raising the mood and emancipation.
  • 1.5-2.5‰ - the average degree of intoxication. Violation of reflexes, human coordination, inhibition of reaction, the possible appearance of aggression towards others and memory lapses. At the same time, speech becomes monotonous, in some cases slurred.
  • 2.5-3.0‰ - a strong degree of intoxication. Complete lack of coordination of movement, slurred speech, lack of perception on the spot, the appearance of vomiting.
  • 3.0‰ and above - a severe degree of intoxication, accompanied by a violation of the health and functions of the body. A blood alcohol concentration above 5.0‰ is considered fatal.

Alcohol Calculator Results

Maximum expected alcohol withdrawal time calculated based on your personal characteristics. It is this value that can be taken into account to determine the time when you can drive and drive a car. Minimum, average and maximum time - a general calculation without taking into account some parameters. These options can be ignored in most cases.

Exceptions:

  • if you have a serious injury or illness, we recommend that you focus on the maximum time to remove alcohol;
  • if during the removal of alcohol from the body you were engaged in heavy physical activity, then you can take the minimum time and add 15-25% to it;
  • in people who regularly drink alcohol, the time to remove alcohol from the blood is less than in those who rarely drink. But, unfortunately, it is impossible to determine the exact time of alcohol withdrawal in this case without individual medical studies.

Note: Our alcohol calculator shows the time of complete elimination of alcohol from the blood and does not take into account the allowable rate of 0.3 ‰. Given the possible small error in the calculations of the calculator, we recommend that you focus on the total withdrawal time.

Used formulas for counting alcohol

The mathematical model underlying the site's alcohol calculator uses the generally accepted formula of the Swedish chemist Erik Widmark. It is this formula that forensic experts around the world use to determine the amount of alcohol in the human body at a particular point in time:

where: BAC- concentration of alcohol (g/l); t- time elapsed since use; A- mass of pure ethanol in the drink (g); r- Widmark factor; W- body weight (kg); k- alcohol absorption rate constant (h -1); b- alcohol elimination rate ((g/l)/h);

To calculate the coefficients, the works of Seidl (S. Seidl, University of Vienna) and Forrest (Alexander Robert W. Forrest, University of Sheffield) were used.

Why our calculator is the most accurate

When developing our alcohol calculator, we studied and took into account all the factors and methods used in the world of forensic medicine. Our calculator was developed in 2010 and for a long time was available only to a limited circle of people in the form of a specialized program in the Java programming language. During this time, the accuracy of the calculations has been repeatedly confirmed in practice.

Comparison with other breathalyzers online

On the Internet you can find many different alcohol calculators and breathalyzers online, but most of them use only the simplest formulas and average (simplified) coefficients. We managed to find only 2 real full-fledged alcohol calculators in Russian, but even they take into account fewer factors than our calculator.

When can you drive after drinking alcohol?

It is very important to remember that the absence of alcohol in the blood does not in itself give you the right to drive a car.

According to paragraph 2.7 of the traffic rules of the Russian Federation:

2.7. The driver is prohibited from:
drive a vehicle in a state of intoxication(alcoholic, narcotic or otherwise), under the influence of drugs that impair reaction and attention, in a sick or tired state endangering traffic safety;
transfer control of a vehicle to persons in a state of intoxication, under the influence of drugs, in a sick or tired state, as well as to persons who do not have a driver's license for the right to drive a vehicle of the corresponding category or subcategory, except for cases of driving instruction in accordance with section 21 of the Rules;

The driver is not allowed to drive the car in a tired or sick state. A strong and moderate hangover is just a painful condition, and it is strictly forbidden to drive. If you are sick or tired during an accident, you will be found guilty. Driving in this condition is dangerous for the driver, passengers and other road users.

Therefore, do not drive while hungover, even if the alcohol is completely eliminated from the body.

Stages of alcohol intoxication

Less than 0.3 ‰ - no influence of alcohol

There are no effects, the behavior is normal. The presence of alcohol in the blood can only be determined with the help of special tests.

From 0.3 to 0.5 ‰ - insignificant influence of alcohol

It is difficult for a person to concentrate, the following effects are possible: talkativeness, a feeling of joy, relaxation, mild euphoria.

From 0.5 to 1.5 ‰ - slight intoxication

Sensations are dulled, disinhibition and extraversion are possible. Violations are possible: reasoning, depth of perception, peripheral vision.

From 1.5 to 2.5 ‰ - moderate intoxication

A person is characterized by: variability of emotions, over-expressiveness, strong anger or sadness, fury, decreased libido. Reflexes and basic motor skills are impaired, reaction time is reduced. There is a possibility of temporary alcohol poisoning.

From 2.5 to 3.0 ‰ - severe intoxication

The following changes in behavior are possible: stupor, dullness of sensations, loss of the ability to understand. There is a possibility of loss of consciousness. Severe dysmotility and memory loss may also be present.

From 3.0 to 5.0 ‰ - severe alcohol poisoning, death may occur

Severe depression of the functions of the central nervous system, loss of consciousness, coma and death are possible. There may be disturbances in the control of urination, the functions of the respiratory system and a complete loss of balance.

More than 5.0 ‰ - fatal poisoning.

High risk of alcoholic coma, loss of consciousness, there is a possibility of death.

How alcohol is considered in the courts

When conducting research, forensic experts use the same formulas and guidelines that were used in the development of our alcohol calculator. However, when conducting research for courts, forensic scientists use coefficients that are more beneficial to the defendant. If it is necessary to determine the degree of alcohol intoxication in an accident that occurred a few hours before blood sampling from the accused, then the minimum coefficient of alcohol removal from the body is applied: 0.10 ‰/hour. If it is necessary to show that at the time of the crime the defendant was in a state of insanity, then the maximum coefficient is used in the calculation: 0.20 ‰/hour. Unfortunately, forensic experts in Russia do not always use exact formulas, but often use the average values of the coefficients from the guidelines.

Alcohol Calculator Discussion

The international version of our alcohol calculator is available here: BAC Calculator. We would love to hear your opinion about our alcohol calculator. You can leave a comment at

The alcohol calculator will help you independently determine the level of alcohol concentration in the blood, taking into account the amount of alcohol drunk, its strength, your gender and weight, as well as the hours that have passed since drinking alcoholic beverages, and will also tell you how long the alcohol will leave the human body.

Blood alcohol calculator

It should be understood that the calculation is based on average statistical data and may not correspond to reality, since it does not take into account the individual characteristics of each organism. The exact level of alcohol intoxication can only be determined by a professional breathalyzer.

Alcohol concentration: 0 ppm

You can get behind the wheel through: 0 h

Diagnosis: Sober, alcohol content within the physiological norm

How long does it take for alcohol to leave the body?

Of course, the time for the release of alcohol from the body also depends primarily on the individual characteristics of each person, since the rate of absorption of alcoholic beverages varies in all people. However, there are a number of factors that affect the timeremoving alcohol from the body:

First of all, it is your height and weight. A person with greater body weight and greater height, respectively, will need more alcohol for intoxication.

Your gender. As a rule, intoxication occurs earlier in women than in men.

Genetically inherent sensitivity to alcohol.

The state of the body as a whole at the time of drinking. If you drink on an empty stomach, then intoxication occurs much earlier and remains in the blood for a longer period.

Nevertheless, the calculator presented on our website will help you roughly calculate the time for removing alcohol from the body.

Table of withdrawal of alcohol from the body

The withdrawal of alcohol from the body, as noted above, occurs depending on and taking into account more than one factor. The figures presented in this table are indicative and may vary. Nevertheless, for any driver it will not be superfluous to have a table at hand that allows you to at least approximately determine the ppm of alcohol in the blood.

Attention! You carry out the calculations yourself, and the owners of the site, as well as the developers of the alcohol calculator, do not bear any responsibility for the results of the calculations and their consequences.

Did you know, our dear regular readers, that almost a third of car accidents happen "thanks" to drunk drivers?

An online blood alcohol level calculator is exactly what is needed in order to calculate in advance how much alcohol can be drunk on a holiday, and how quickly it will be removed from our body, as well as how much ppm of pure ethanol will be in the blood after drinking certain alcoholic beverages.

You will need quite a bit of information: you need to indicate your gender, weight in kilograms, the degree of fullness of the stomach and, finally, the amount and strength of alcoholic beverages drunk.

Let's say you are a lady weighing 58 kilos who drank (or plans to drink) 200 ml of wine with a strength of 25 degrees and half a liter of beer with a strength of 8 degrees. Our calculator immediately calculated online and showed the following data: the alcohol consumed contains 71.01 ml of pure alcohol, the peak concentration of which in the blood will be 1.14 ppm. All this “good” will be removed from the body in 7 hours 38 minutes, i.e. only after this period of time is it allowed to drive.

Why you need an online blood ethanol level calculator

This handy and simple calculator will help you:

  1. To everyone who gets behind the wheel, calculate the allowable dose of alcohol and the period of time after which it is safe to drive,
  2. To everyone who wants to remain a person for the holidays, and not a pig with a muzzle in a salad, who wants to calculate the maximum allowable dose of booze for their body,
  3. Anyone who wants to roughly calculate after what dose of alcohol he ceases to control himself in order to be able to stop in time,
  4. Anyone who wants to roughly calculate the amount of drinking per person for a wedding or other event so that guests do not get drunk to delirium tremens, but remain charming and attractive.

In general, the online blood alcohol calculator is a useful and even necessary thing, we recommend that you bookmark it and use this wonderful program more often.

However, you yourself can at least approximately estimate the level of alcohol in the blood according to your condition and well-being thanks to the following plate.

Table per mille: "Effects of different levels of alcohol in the blood"

More than 5.0 ‰
