How to calculate the volume of concrete

When creating a project for a house or an extension, it is necessary to calculate the amount of material and make an estimate of the costs. There are several ways to calculate the amount of material for pouring the foundation or the volume of concrete.

If you need to pour, say, a foundation with a height of 40 cm, then it is imperative to take into account the stiffeners, which prevent deformation and subsidence of the concrete base. A more accurate calculation can be made if you know the length of the reinforcement and the data of the perpendicular section. For example, if the ribs are set at a distance of 2 m, then the number will be 10 - five lobular ribs and five transverse ribs.

The length of each reinforcing profile is 5 meters, the total length is 50 meters (since we need 10 ribs). The thickness of such products is 0.8-1 of the height of the concrete base. Therefore, 0.4 m * 0.08 m = 0.0032 sq. m. The amount of concrete is calculated in the same way: 0.0032 * 100 sq. m = 0.32 cubic meters m. To this indicator, it is necessary to add the previously calculated volume for pouring the main foundation.

If the plans are to implement a columnar foundation, then the calculation will be slightly different. You will need the following data: number of columns, height, diameter. This calculation is carried out according to the formula S = 3.14 * R2, where R is the radius. Calculate the amount of concrete for one pillar by multiplying the cross-sectional area at the top. Once you've got your data, calculate the total volume by multiplying by the number of posts.

The strip foundation is calculated based on the width, depth and total length of the strip. The total score is the perimeter of the outer walls, where the score is supplemented by the length of the tape of the inner walls. Multiply the indicators and get the required calculation.
