3D floors - large photo review

The building materials market now provides the buyer with an almost unlimited choice - and this includes flooring. But a bulk 3D floor is considered to be a special “fashion rage” - just look at how it looks in the photo to want the same in your apartment.

3D floors - varieties and advantages

If you look at the history of self-leveling 3D floors, it turns out that they came to living quarters from the street.

Initially, 3D graphics began to be used precisely by street artists - and still, 3D images are of great interest and admiration from the audience. Looking at such a picture, it’s hard to even believe that there is actually smooth asphalt under your feet - and not, for example, a foamy seashore with sand and palm trees.

Whichever of the designers decided to be the first to bring 3D photography into living spaces, this idea was definitely successful. In the West, self-leveling floors began to be used half a century ago, in Russia the technology appeared quite recently - but every year the three-dimensional floor is gaining more and more popularity. Perhaps, at the moment, there is simply nothing more beautiful and original in the interior.

What is a 3D floor in its composition? In fact, any self-leveling floor consists of two elements - the actual filling material and what creates the pattern - a photo, a pattern or a special filler.

The most common type of floor is a self-leveling floor with a photo. First, a primer is applied to the base, that is, to a concrete screed, then the main leveling layer of the floor, a huge photograph is laid on top of it - and a finishing polymer layer is poured on top of it. A transparent polymer applied to a photograph refracts light rays and creates a three-dimensional image.

A 3D floor with a pattern is laid using the same technology - only instead of a photo, a picture specially drawn on a computer is used.

Quite another matter - a floor with a filler. In this case, various materials are poured into the polymer mixture - glitter, shavings, foil, colored sand, finely chopped paint. From above, all this is also filled with transparent plastic - and the floor not only strikes the imagination with its volumetric depth, but also beautifully shimmers from the inside in the light.

As already mentioned, at its core, a 3D floor is a polymer with various additives: epoxy or methyl methacrylic resins. And this gives an idea of its performance characteristics. Self-leveling floor is very strong and durable - it can keep its appearance up to 50 years of use. Such a floor does not attract dust and dirt, and by the way, the image does not fade in the sun - which is a big disadvantage of many other floor coverings. The self-leveling 3D floor is not afraid of water, resistant to high temperatures, does not deform from long-term use - because there is not a single seam in it.

How to keep the 3d floor clean?

It is quite easy to take care of the self-leveling floor - it is not capricious and does not require any special detergents. The only important point is that you should not wash such a floor with powders, as they can scratch the smooth surface. Perhaps this is the only the weak point of the self-leveling floor - it must be protected from scratches and scuffs. Of course, they will not violate its technical properties - but the appearance of the photo can be spoiled.

It is hard not to agree that with an impressive list of advantages and only one drawback, a self-leveling 3D floor is really both a beautiful and convenient flooring option for any home.

The question of the price of 3D floors?

With all the undeniable advantages of 3D floors, one moment can be quite sensitive for someone who decides to equip a similar floor in their apartment. A floor with a 3D image is quite expensive - the spread is on average from 2500 to 5000 rubles per square meter.

Of course, theoretically, you can put a self-leveling floor with your own hands - then you will be able to save, if not on mixtures, then at least at work. However, pouring such a floor is an extremely time-consuming and delicate work, ideally requiring experience and knowledge. If you make a mistake when laying the self-leveling floor, at best you will get a low-quality image, and at worst - just a bad floor. And you will either have to put up with its shortcomings until the next repair, or redo everything by the hands of the masters - that is, give much more money than originally planned.

It should be noted that it is not recommended to save on workers. Since the creation of a 3D floor is a high-tech job, then craftsmen who are ready to do it for too little money can deceive you about their own qualifications. And after poor-quality work, the floor will again have to be redone.

And yet, the benefits of 3D floors are worth the costs that such flooring will cost. Unlike parquet, laminate and even ceramic tiles, self-leveling flooring is really extremely durable, undemanding to maintain and resistant to any temperature and humidity. A floor, correctly installed once, will serve you faithfully for the next few decades.

3D floors - an inexhaustible variety of patterns and textures

There are a great many drawings, patterns and textures for self-leveling 3D floors. To create a three-dimensional image under your feet, you can choose a finished photo, order a drawing according to your own sketches, or even give the whole process into the hands of professional designers.

At the same time, it is important to remember one thing - the image that you install under the self-leveling floor can no longer be changed in accordance with the mood. You will have to look at it for many years - therefore, the picture in the 3D floor should in no case tire you or annoy you. For example, it is strongly not recommended to fill the floor with a photo of your favorite movie star or an image of an expensive car model. No matter how much you treat your hobbies with trepidation now, in a few years not only fashion, but also your own tastes may change. The photos on this page are quite real, and they were taken in ready-made premises, whether it be a bathroom or an office of a company.

Therefore, professional designers always recommend choosing neutral, soothing, relaxing images for a self-leveling 3D floor - those that will evoke a feeling of lightness and at the same time depth. Not without reason in the creation of self-leveling 3D floors is so common nautical theme or space theme. The starry sky and water are one of the few things that you can look at endlessly and not get tired.

Volumetric textures are also very popular. In other words, these are abstract images for a 3D floor that do not carry any specific clear pattern - for example, just the texture of granite, marble or wood. The possibility that you will get tired of contemplating such a floor is extremely small - after all, it is these textures that are most often used in any floor coverings. But thanks to 3D technology, a three-dimensional floor made to look like wood or stone looks much more attractive and interesting.

Where to use

Most often, a self-leveling 3D floor is installed in the bathroom. This is logical - firstly, the room is most often small, which means that you do not have to spend a lot of money to create a beautiful interior. Secondly, the self-leveling floor in the bathroom eliminates the possibility of leaks. And thirdly, where else to use such a popular "water" theme, if not in a room that is directly related to water? Examples can be seen in the photo.

But if you have the resources and desire, you can equip the self-leveling floor in any room of the house - in the kitchen, in the living room, in the bedroom. You just need to carefully monitor that it is combined with the general situation.

For example, if you decide to lay a dark 3D floor with gleaming "stars" in the bedroom, then the ceiling, walls, and even furniture must be decorated in the appropriate spirit - this will create the effect of complete presence. After all the main task of the three-dimensional floor a - transform the space of the room. And if the floor does not harmonize with the situation, the whole essence will be lost.

For the kitchen, a light 3D floor will be an excellent choice. As a rule, in Russian houses this room is also not very large - and the owners traditionally try to “expand” it with light colors. The self-leveling floor provides ample opportunities here - after all, among other things, due to the multidimensionality of the floor, the kitchen will also increase “deeper”.

3D flooring is a great option if you want to create a truly original, stylish and at the same time practical interior in your home. We hope our photo review will help you with your choice.
