Night of baraat what to do on this night. Laylat-ul-baraat - the sacred night of baraat. How to spend the night of Baraat, what to do

The night from the 15th to the 16th of Shaban (according to some sources, the night from the 14th to the 15th) is called the night of Baraat. "Baraat" means "non-involvement", "complete separation"; on this night, people with bad deeds are completely separated (excommunicated) from Paradise, and people with good deeds from Hell.

On the night of Baraat, the archangel Jabrail appeared to our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and woke him up. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked what kind of night it was, he replied that it was the night of Baraat - the night when three hundred gates of the Mercy of the Almighty swing open for the ummah (community of followers) of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The night when the Almighty answers the prayers (dua) of His servants, who pray humbly.

The hadiths say that on this night the sins of all people are forgiven except for apostates, envious people, slanderers, sorcerers, fortune-tellers who constantly drink alcohol, cut off ties with relatives, disobey their parents, adulterers, proud people and provoke confusion. Therefore, it is desirable to spend this night in prayers and remembrance of the Almighty. One hadith says that there are five nights in which dua (prayer-supplication) is accepted: Friday night, the tenth night of Muharram, the 15th night of Shaban, the nights before the holidays of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Adha. On this night, the names of those who will die within years are erased from the Preserved Tablets.

On the night of Baraat, Surah Yasin is read three times: the first time with the intention to prolong life and the second time to protect from troubles and misfortunes, and the third time to expand blessings.

After each reading of “Yasin”, the following prayer is read (if you read the prayer only for yourself (i.e., in the singular), then the words in brackets are not pronounced):

Translation:

“With the name of Allah, Merciful to everyone in this world and in the next world only to those who believe!
O Allah, O Possessor of Grace, who does not need the mercy of others, O Possessor of Majesty and Generosity, O Possessor of all blessings! There is no god to be worshiped but You.

You help those who ask You for help, You protect those who ask You for protection, those who are in danger resort to You, You are the safety of those who seek it. If You have written me (us) in the mother of the books [of the Preserved Tablet] as lost (and), deprived (and), exiled (and), poor (and), O Allah, by Your grace, erase the record of my (our) delusion, deprivation , exile, poverty, and write me (us) in the Preserved Tablet among the well-behaved, those to whom blessings are expanded and who are favored in doing good deeds.

You said in Your Book, sent down in the language of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and Your word is true: Allah erases what He wants and leaves what He wants, and Allah has a Preserved Tablet.
O Allah! In the name of the manifestation of Your Greatest Grace on the middle night of Shaban, take away from me (us) the troubles that I (we) know and do not know about. You are Great and Generous.

Blessings of Allah and peace [well-being] to our master Muhammad, his family [community] and companions.

On the 15th of the month of Sha "aban, the night of Baraat comes. Is there any reliable information on how to spend this night, what dua to read? Some argue that you need to read 100 rak'ahs of additional prayers, read 3 times Sura Ya-sin on this night. But is this reliable ?

Those who do this rely on this unauthentic hadeeth. Silsilah da'eef 2132. إذا كانت ليلة النصف من شعبان فقوموا ليلها وصوموا نهارها When night falls mid-Shaban, then stand in his night in prayer and a day Simple However, the dignity of the middle of the night Shabana came another hadith إن الله ليطلع في ليلة النصف من شعبان, فيغفر لجميع خلقه إلا لمشرك أو مشاحن Silslila-sahiha 1563

The approximate meaning is that Allah appears on the night of the middle of the month of Shaban and forgives all his creations, except for mushrik and mushakhin (heretic, innovator). Therefore, when Sheikh al-Albani was asked about the virtue of the middle of the month of Sha'ban, he replied that he has one virtue, and that is that Allah forgives the sins of everyone at this time, except for mushrik and mushakhin. silsila huda ua nur 564. It is impossible to single out this night and this day with some special types of worship. And this will be an innovation, even if these are fundamentally legitimized types of worship.

However, if a person used to pray at night, then let him pray as usual; if he fasted in the middle of each month, then let him fast that day as well. Such a conclusion was made by Muhammad Said Raslyan, analyzing this topic at the Friday sermon. http://www.rslan.com/vad/items_details.php?id=2343

From the khutba of Sheikh Uthaymeen:

“Some of the people exalt the night from the middle of the month of Sha'ban, and allocate it (them) for worship, for standing up prayers ... And they also allocate these days for fasting. However, there is no reliable basis for this in the Sunnah of the prophet, صلى الله عليه و سلم .

And it did not come from the prophet, صلى الله عليه و سلم, that he set aside these days for holding prayers at night. However, all these hadiths are fabricated (maudu"), lies against the prophet, صلى الله عليه و سلم, as many muhaddiths reported about this.

And also the days in the middle of this month, the prophet, صلى الله عليه و سلم, did not single out them for fasting.

Yes, the Prophet, صلى الله عليه و سلم, fasted a lot this month. But he did not allocate specific days for this. And you need an argument from the Koran or from the Sunnah in order to limit or allocate a place or a certain day for worship.

And there is no dalil (evidence) for this, not from the Koran, not from the Sunnah ..! (Silsilya albabu almuftukh, entry 222 (b), 23:20)

Ordinance regarding the celebration of the middle of the month of Shaban. Praise be to Allah who has made religion complete for us. And completed all blessings for us. Peace and blessings be upon His Prophet and Messenger Muhammad the Prophet of taub and mercy.

Then:

Allah Almighty said: “Today I perfected your religion for your sake, completed My mercy to you and approved Islam as a religion for you.” (al Maida 3) And the Almighty said: “Or do they have partners who legitimize for them in religion what Allah did not allow?” (Shura 21).

And in two reliable collections from Aisha (رضي الله عنها) from the prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم): “If someone introduces something new and unrelated to this matter of ours, it will be rejected.”

B sahih Muslim from Jabir (رضي الله عنه) , what the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) said in the Friday sermon: And then: Verily, the best words are the Book of Allah, and the best path is the path of Muhammad و سلم). The worst deeds are innovations, and every innovation is a delusion. And there are many verses and hadiths in this sense.

And this indicates directly that Allah Almighty made complete for this Ummah her religion and completed all the blessings for her. And Allah did not kill his prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) except after he reported to his ummah and explained everything that Allah ascribed to her from words and deeds.

And the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) explained that everything that is introduced new after him, attributing it to Islam from words or deeds, all this will not be accepted (rejected) by the one who introduced this innovation, even if his intention is good.

And the Sahaba of the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) knew this ruling, and also the scholars of Islam after them, They condemned the innovation and warned against it (innovation). As everyone who wrote about the exaltation of the Sunnah and the condemnation of innovation mentioned this, like ibn Waddah, At-Tartushi, ibn Shama. other.

And from the innovations that some people introduced: The innovation is the celebration of the night of the middle of the month of Sha'ban, and the isolation of this day by holding an uraza (fast).

And there is no evidence for all this on which one could rely. Weak hadeeths came about the advantage of this night, it is not allowed to rely on them.

And what has come about the benefits of performing prayer on this night, then all these hadiths are fictitious (maudu`), as many of the scholars have pointed out, and some more mention of their words will come with the permission of Allah.

And it came about this night of tradition from some of the Salaf from those who lived in Sham (present-day Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, and some of the lands of Egypt) and others. And as for what most scholars are on: To celebrate it (the night of the middle of the month of Sha`ban) is an innovation (bid`ah).

And the fact that all the hadiths that came regarding its benefits are weak (da`if), and some are fictitious (maudu`). And of those who recalled this, al-hafiz ibn Rajib in his book “Lataif al-ma'arif” and others besides him. And as for the hadiths of the weak (da`if), then deeds are done according to them only in worship, the basis of which is approved by reliable evidence.

As for the celebration of the night of the middle of Shaban, there is no reliable basis for this so that one can incline towards this with the help of weak hadiths.

And this rule was mentioned by Imam Abu Al-`Abas Sheikh ul-Islam ibn Taymiyyah (رحمه الله).

And the scholars united in that it is obligatory to return the questions in which people differed to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه و سلم). And the fact that they (the Qur'an and the Sunnah) or one of them decreed the law is obligatory to follow.

And what is contrary to them (the Qur'an and the Sunnah) is obligatory to reject it. And what does not come to them (the Qur'an and the Sunnah) from worship is an innovation; it is not allowed to do it, mainly from calling for it and approving it. As Allah Almighty said: “O you who believe! Obey Allah, obey the Messenger and the powerful among you. If you argue about something, then refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. So it will be better and more beautiful in value (or reward)!” (An-Nisa 59).

And the Almighty said: “The decision of everything in which you disagree is with Allah.” (ash-Shura 10). And the Almighty said: “Say: “If you love Allah, then follow me, and then Allah will love you and forgive you your sins.” (al-`Imran 31).

And the Almighty said: “But no - I swear by your Lord! “They will not believe until they elect you as a judge in all that is entangled between them, do not stop feeling constraint in their souls from your decision and do not submit completely.” (An-Nisa 65).

And there are many verses in this sense, and this is a canonical text in the obligatory return of controversial issues to the Quran and Sunnah, and the obligatory contentment of their (Quran and Sunnah) resolutions, and the fact that this corresponds to iman is the best for slaves in this world and the afterlife, and is the best return.

Al-hafiz ibn Rajib said in his book “Lataif al-ma’arif”: (And the night of the middle of Sha’ban, tabi’ina from Sham, like Kholid ibn Ma’dan, Makhul, Lukman ibn ‘Amir and others, exalted and zealous in worship in it (that night), and from them the people took its advantage and exaltation, and it was said that the Israelite legend about this came down to them.

And most of the scholars of the Hijaz condemned this, among them `Ato, ibn abi Mulayka, and this was reported by `Abderrahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam from the scholars of Medina, and this is the statement of the followers of Imam Malik and others, and they said all this innovation (bid`a ) ... and the opinion of Imam Ahmad regarding the night of the middle of Sha`ban is not known, ...) after which he said (ibn Rajab): (Praying the night of the middle of Sha`ban does not come from the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) and not from his Sahaba…). The desired from the words of ibn Rajib ended.

This is a direct statement from him (ibn Rajib) that there is nothing reliable from the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) and not from his Sahaba (رضي الله عنهم) regarding the night of the middle of Sha`ban.

And every thing not confirmed by legal evidence is considered legal; it is not allowed for a Muslim to introduce it (i.e. to consider this thing not confirmed by legal evidence as legal) in the religion of Allah, no matter whether he does it alone or in a group. And it makes no difference whether he concealed it or openly did it based on the general words of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم): "If anyone commits any deed that does not have our order against him, it will be rejected."

And other evidence pointing to the censure of innovation and warnings against it.

Imam Abu Bakr at-Tartushi (رحمه الله) said, in his book al-hawadis wa al-bid`a: one of our scholars so that they turn to the middle of Shaban, and do not turn to the hadeeth of Makhul, and do not see her (the night of the middle of Shaban) advantage over others.

And it was said to Ibn Abi Mulayka: “Verily, Ziyad al-Numairi says: “Verily, the reward of the night of the middle of Shaban is like the reward of Laylat al-Qadr (the night of predestination). He (ibn abi Mulayka) said: "If I heard him and had a stick in my hand, I would hit him." And Ziyad was a storyteller."

The eminent scholar ash-Shaukani (رحمه الله) said in al-fawaid al-majmu`a: “Hadith: O ʻAli, the one who makes 100 rak'ats on the night of the middle of Sha'ban, reading Fatiha in each rak'at, and “kul hua Allahu ahad” (sura ikhlas) 10 times, then Allah will fulfill all his needs .... " until the end of the hadith. This hadeeth is fictitious (maudu`), and in his words - frankness about how much the reward of performing it will receive - something that a person of discernment has no doubt about it (hadith) that it is fictitious.

Its (hadith) narrators are not known, also according to another chain of narrators everything is considered fictitious (maudu`), and its narrators are not known.

And he said in al-mukhtar: “The hadeeth of prayer in the middle of Sha'ban batl (not valid), then what Ibn Khiban reports from `Ali: “If the night of the middle of Sha’ban comes, then stand (pray) her night and keep urazu (fast) her day. Then he is weak (da`if).

And he said in “al-lai”: 100 rak'ats in the middle of Sha'ban with sincerity 10 times .... Fictional (maudu`) and most of its transmitters in three chains (isnad), unknown and weak. Said: And 12 rak'ats with sincerity 30 times fictitious, and fourteen (rak'ats) fictitious.

And a group of scholars was seduced by this hadith, as the author of “al-ihya” and others, and also from mufassirs (interpreters of the Koran), and the prayer of this night (the night of the middle of sh`ban) is transmitted from different sides, all of them are not real fictitious ... It ended desired.

Hafiz al-`Iraqi said: "The hadeeth of prayer in the middle of Sha`ban, fictional on the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) and lies on him.

Imam an-Nawawi said in the book “al-Majmu`”: “The prayer is known as the prayer of ra'aib, and it consists of 12 rak'ats between ma'rib and 'isha on the first night of Friday of the month of Rajab and prayer in the middle of Sha' Banah 100 rak`ats, these two prayers are an innovation (bida`) condemned, and do not deceive yourself by mentioning them in the books “kuwatu al-kulub”, “ihyau `ulumu ad-din”, and not the hadith mentioned in them, since all it's not really.

And do not be deceived by some scholars who did not understand his position (prayer) and wrote sheets about the desirability of them (i.e. namaz ra'aib, and prayer in the middle of sha'ban), since this is truly a mistake.

And Sheikh Imam Abu Muhammad `Abdurrahman ibn Isma`il al-Maqdisi wrote a precious book in their refutation (i.e. namaz ra`aib, and namaz in the middle of sha`ban), performed (work) in the best way. And the words of scientists regarding this issue are very many.

And if we begin to quote everything that we stopped at from their words on this issue, then it will become a long speech, and probably this is enough and this is contentment for those who demand the truth.

And from what preceded from the verses, hadiths and words of scholars, it becomes clear to those who demand the truth: The fact that the celebration of the night of the middle of Shaban by performing namaz or anything other than namaz, and isolating its day with uraza (fasting), a condemned innovation among most scientists, and no this is based on pure Sharia, on the contrary, it is from what was newly introduced into Islam after the time of the Sahaba (رضي الله عنهم).

And in this chapter, the words of Allah Almighty are sufficient for demanding the truth: “Today I perfected your religion for your sake” and what came in the same sense from the verses.

And the words of the prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم): “If anyone introduces something new and unrelated to this matter of ours, it will be rejected.” And in what came in the same sense from the hadiths. And in Sahih Muslim from Abi Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) said: “Do not distinguish Friday night by standing (night prayer) among other nights, and do not distinguish its day with uraza (fasting) among others days, except when one of you keeps it in uraza (fasting).

And if it were allowed to separate any of the nights by any of the worships, then Friday night would be more primary than others, since its day is the best day of the sun that has risen above it. Based on authentic hadith from the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه و سلم).

And when the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) warned against isolating it (Friday) by standing (night prayer) among other nights, this indicates that other nights from nights in the first place are not allowed to isolate any of them by worship except with a reliable argument indicating deprivation.

And when the night of predestination (leylat al-qodr) and the nights of Ramadan were legalized standing up (night prayers) and perseverance in this, the prophet pointed out this and prompted the ummah to do this. And he did it himself, as it comes in two reliable collections from the prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم): “Whoever stood up the night prayer in Ramadan with faith and hope for the reward of Allah, the sins he committed earlier will be forgiven”, and: “Whoever stood up night prayer on the night of predestination (leylat al qadar) with faith and hope for the reward of Allah, the sins committed by him earlier will be forgiven.

And if the night of the middle of Sha'ban, or the night of the first Friday of Rajab, or the night of Isra va mi'raj (night ascension) had been legalized by its differentiation with a celebration or something of worship, then the prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) would certainly have pointed out to the it, or would do it myself.

And if something happened from this, then the Sahaba (رضي الله عنهم) would certainly convey this to the Ummah and would not hide it from her. And they (the Sahaba) are the best people and more instructive after the prophets (عليهم الصلاة والسلام) and may Allah be pleased with the Sahaba of the Messenger of Allah

And you learned from the words of the scholars: That nothing reliable passes from the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and not from his Sahaba (رضي الله عنهم) regarding the preference for the night of the first Friday of Rajab, and not for the preference for the night of the middle of Shaban.

And it became known that the celebration of their innovation introduced into Islam. And also the identification of them with something from the worship is a condemned innovation. And also on the 27th night of Rajab, regarding which some people are convinced that it is laylatu al-isra wa al-mi'raj (the night of transfer and ascension), it is not allowed to distinguish it with any of the worships, just as it is impossible to mark it with a celebration based on the previous evidence, this is if they knew (its date), but what if it is reliable from the words of scientists that it is not known (i.e., the date of leylat al-isra wa al-mi'raj) ?!

And the words of the one who said: The fact that she (i.e. laylat al-isra wa al-mi'raj) is the night of the 27th month of Rajab, the words are not valid, they have no basis in reliable hadiths, and the one who said perfectly said:

The best deeds that preceded those committed along the straight path. And the worst things are innovation innovation.

And I ask Allah to help us and all other Muslims to adhere to the Sunnah and strengthen on it and warn against what contradicts it; indeed, He is Generous.

According to Islamic media

Religious reading: on the night of baraat, a reading prayer to help our readers.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The month of Rajab surpasses other months in the same way as the Koran surpasses the speech of people. The superiority of the month of Shaaban in comparison with other months is the same as my superiority in comparison with other prophets. And the superiority of Ramadan is equal to the superiority of Allah compared to His creations.” The month of Rajab is considered the month of forgiveness and mercy, Shaaban - purification and spiritualization, and Ramadan - the acquisition of blessings. They say that in the month of Rajab, seeds are thrown into the ground, that is, a person repents. In Shaaban they are watered, that is, a person, after performing the tavbu, performs good deeds. And in the month of Ramadan, the harvest is harvested, that is, after repentance and doing good deeds, a person is cleansed of sins and achieves great degrees of perfection. These three sacred months (Rajab, Shaaban, Ramadan) are given to us as the Mercy of the Almighty.

The month of Shaaban is significant on the night from the 14th to the 15th, called the Night of Baraat (in Arabic "Laylat-ul-Baraat"). This is a desirable night for any Muslim, a night when a prayer is accepted, when those who believe in the One Creator completely surrender to His worship. Baraat in Arabic means "non-involvement", "complete separation", "purification". On this night, the sinners are excommunicated from Paradise, and the righteous - from the flames of Hell. The Almighty revealed the night of Baraat because it is the night of judgment and predestination, the night of anger and contentment, the night of acceptance and rejection, the night of achieving and holding good deeds, the night of happiness and unhappiness, the night of mercy and goodness. Some become happy this night, while others move away from mercy, some are rewarded, they are exalted, while others are humiliated, they are deprived of forgiveness.

Imam Subuki writes in his tafsirs: “Indeed, this night washes away the sins of the whole year, and Friday night washes away the sins of the week, and the Night of Predestination (Laylat-ul-Qadr) is the sins of all life”, i.e. the revival of these nights is the cause of the washing away of sins, and therefore the Night of Baraat is called the night of washing away sins. In addition, she is called night life because of the hadith that Munziriy transmitted from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): “The heart of the one who revives the festive night and the night of the middle of the month of Shaaban will not die on the day of the death of hearts.” This night is also called night of intercession because of what was transmitted: “The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the Almighty on the 13th night of intercession for his ummah, and Allah gave him intercession for only three. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for intercession on the 14th night, and the Almighty gave him intercession for 30, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked on the 15th night and the Almighty gave him intercession for the entire ummah, except for those who fled from Allah, just as a camel runs away ”(one who moved away from Allah by constancy in committing sins). The night of Baraat is called the night of forgiveness because of the hadith transmitted by Imam Ahmad, in which the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) says: “Indeed, the Almighty turns on the night of the middle of the month of Shaaban to His servants and forgives all the inhabitants of the earth, except for the polytheist and the man who quarreled with his brother or keeps anger and hatred towards him in his heart. This night is also called night of release because of the hadith that was transmitted from Ibn Ishaq and from Anas ibn Malik, where Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) conveys the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): “O Aisha, don’t you know that this night is night middle of Shaaban? Indeed, on this night, Allah frees His servants from Hell according to the number of hairs in the wool of the sheep of the Banu Kalb tribe, except for the types of people who constantly use intoxicants, disobey their parents and harm them, who are constantly in sin of adultery, interrupting family and friendly relations, sowing confusion and slanderers. . In addition to all of the above, this night is called distribution night because of the hadith narrated by Ata ibn Yasar: “When the night of the middle of Shaaban comes, they rewrite for the angel of death everyone who dies from Shaaban until the next Shaaban. Indeed, the servant of Allah plants a tree, marries, builds a house, and his name was recorded among the dead, and the angel of death does not expect him, unless he (the angel) is ordered to take his soul.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said the following: “As soon as night falls in the middle of the month of Shaaban, spend it in worship, and in the afternoon (the next day) keep fasting. After all, on this night, starting from sunset, Allah sends down His mercy on the firmament of the earth and commands as follows: “Are there any who repent before Me - I will forgive them, if there are those who ask for good - I will give them, if there are no sickness - I will send down recovery” . And so it continues until the morning. Allah in the middle of the month of Shaaban forgives everyone, except for polytheists, those who experience anger, break off relations with relatives, show arrogance and contradict parents, drink alcohol, commit adultery, provoke discord or apostatize from Islam, as well as slanderers. Allah on the Night of Baraat accepts repentance and does not spare His mercy and forgiveness for those who sincerely worship Him and ask Him for forgiveness. It is enough that a Muslim with repentance and prayer turned to Him. The main thing is sincerity. On this sacred night of forgiveness, Muslims should wholeheartedly turn to the Almighty, ask Him to accept good deeds and forgive sins. The most important thing is to reconsider your life, actions, thoughts that night. On this night, all believers must give up malice, enmity, pride and disobedience to their parents with the intention of never returning to them. Otherwise, all this will alienate us from barakat (grace) and the value of Laylat-ul-Baraat. One should try to spend the Holy Night of Baraat in Ibadat, praying, reading the Koran, making dua, visiting elders, especially honoring parents in order to receive blessings from them. Also in Laylat-ul-Baraat, it is recommended to remember and wish mercy, forgiveness, prosperity to the dead Muslims and tell children about the dignity and value of this night.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the dua that night: “O Allah! I seek Your forgiveness from torment, Your contentment from Your wrath. I am powerless to praise You enough. You are as great as You praise Yourself."

On the eve of the blessed Night of Baraat, before sunset, preferably Read the following dua 40 times: “Subhanallahi wal-hamdulillahi wa la ilaha illallahu wallahu akbar wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahil aliyail azim.”

After this dua 100 times salavat(greeting) to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). And after the obligatory Maghrib (evening) prayer, you can perform six rak'ahs of nafil prayer (voluntary) performing two rak'ahs separately.

Also, after reading Surah Yasin, it is advisable to turn to Allah with the following dua (if you read the prayer only for yourself (i.e., in the singular), then the words in brackets are not pronounced): “With the name of Allah, Merciful to all in this world and in the next world only to those who believe! You said in Your Book, sent down in the language of the Prophet Muhammad: Allah erases what He wants and leaves what He wants, and Allah has a Preserved Tablet. O Allah! In the name of the manifestation of Your Greatest Grace on the middle night of Shaaban, take away from me (us) the troubles that I (we) know about and about which I do not know. You are Great and Generous.

Holy Night Baraat

How to spend the night of Baraat?

With the permission of the Almighty, we were once again lucky to meet the blessed month of Shaaban. There are many hadiths about the virtue of this month. However, this month is notable for the fact that the middle night is special, this night is called Baraat, in the original Arabic "laylat-ul-Baraah." And translated from Arabic means “non-involvement”, “complete separation”, “purification”, “liberation”. The night of Baraat falls on the night from the 14th to the 15th of the month of Shaaban, and according to another version, from the 15th to the 16th of Shaaban.

Virtues of the Night of Baraat

It was narrated from Muadh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said: ". (Reported by al-Bayhaqi in Shuabul-iman, no. 3674; at-Tabrani in al-Mu'jam al-kabir, no. 215 and in al-Mu'jam al-awsat, no. 6967; and Ibnu Hibban in al-Zawaid.)

عن معاذ بن جبل ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ، قال : « يطلع الله على خلقه في ليلة النصف من شعبان فيغفر لجميع خلقه إلا لمشرك أو مشاحن

A similar hadith is also given in the collection of Imam Ibn Maj, but already from Abu Musa al-Ashari (may Allah be pleased with them all): “ On the night of the middle of the month Shaaban, the Almighty turns to His servants and forgives all the inhabitants of the earth, except for the polytheist and the person who quarreled with his brother or holds anger and hatred towards him in his heart ».

Narrated from the wife of the Messenger of Allah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), who said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her: «<.>Indeed, on this night, Allah frees His servants from Hell by the number of hairs in the fleece of the Banu Kalb sheep. ". (The hadith was narrated by at-Tirmizi, Ibnu Maja, Imam Ahmad, Ibnu Abu Shaiba, al-Baykhaki, al-Bagavi, Ishaq bin Rahavih, ad-Daylami.)

Also, Imam ash-Shafi’i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “It has come to us that the prayer of a slave is accepted at five nights: on Friday night, on the night of Eid al-Fitr (Uraza Bayram) and on the night of Eid al-Adha (Kurban Bayram), on the first night of the month of Rajab and the middle night of the month of Sha'ban. (“al-Umm”, 1/264; “Mugnil-muhtajilyama’rifatialfazil-minhaj”, 4/130)

How should you spend this night?

It is advisable to dedicate the night of Baraat to the worship of the Almighty. Perform desired prayers such as witr, tahajjud and simply desired prayer (mutlyak). If anyone has missed prayers, of course, first of all, you should make up for them. Read more dhikr, salavat on the Prophet ﷺ Almighty, perform your virds. This night is also remarkable in that dua is especially accepted on it.

In your prayers, in order to further increase the chance that Allah will give what is asked of Him, it is advisable to follow the recommendations mentioned in the material: How to ask the Almighty for a prayer to be accepted? The most important thing is not to sleep this night, but to worship the Almighty, for none of us knows how much more he has to live in this world, will he live until the next night of Baraat?

And if work or some other factors do not allow you to spend this night in vigil and worship of the Almighty, then at least try to go to the mosque and sleep there, with the intention of itikaf.

Many theologians prefer to read Sura Yasin three times on this night. The first time they read it with the intention and hope of the Almighty that He will prolong your life, the second time - to save you from need for someone other than Him, and the third time - so that Allah will save you from troubles and adversities. After each Yasin, it is recommended to turn to the Almighty with the following prayer:

O Allah, O Possessor of Grace, who does not need the mercy of others, O Possessor of Majesty and Generosity, O Possessor of all blessings! There is no god to be worshiped but You.

You help those who ask You for help, You protect those who ask You for protection, those who are in danger resort to You, You are the safety of those who seek it. If You have written me (us) in the mother of books as lost (and), deprived (and), exiled (and), poor (and), O Allah, by Your grace, erase the record of my (our) delusion, deprivation, exile, poverty and write me (us) in the Preserved Tablet among the well-behaved, those to whom blessings are expanded and who are favored in doing good deeds.

You said in Your Book sent down in the language of the Prophet Muhammad, and Your word is true: Allah erases what He wills and leaves what He wills, and Allah has a Preserved Tablet.

O Allah! In the name of the manifestation of Your Greatest Grace on the middle night of Shaaban, take away from me (us) the troubles that I (we) know about and about which I do not know. You are Great and Generous.

Holy Night of Baraat 2016. How to spend and what to do for Muslims

On the Night of Baraat, Muslims offer prayers for the dead and make vows for the future to atone for sins. Believers visit each other, give gifts, try not to offend anyone in any way.

Muslim holiday Leylat al-Baraat - the Holy Night of Baraat (Night of cleansing from sins) believers celebrate on the night of 14 to 15 Shaaban (the eighth month of the lunar calendar). In 2016, this night falls from May 21 to May 22.

Holy Night

The night of Baraat is designated in the Qur'an as sacred. This is the second most important holy night in Islam after Laylat al-Qadr (The Night of Destiny).

The word "baraat" is translated from Arabic as "innocence", "non-involvement", "purity", "liberation". According to Islamic tradition, on this night, the Almighty shows mercy to all people, except for adherents of polytheism and those in whose hearts there is malice.

Muslims treat this night with special trepidation, devote it to prayers, asking Allah for mercy and forgiveness. Some interpreters of the Book of Allah believe that the Qur'an was sent down on the night of Qadr, while others believe that the Holy Book was sent down in its entirety to the firmament of the earth on the night of Baraat.

There are certain hadiths (saying - translated from Arabic) of the Prophet Muhammad, proving that this is a special night on which Divine mercy visits the people of the whole earth.

Muslim holidays give believers an incentive to worship more diligently and perform good deeds. On holidays, on sacred days and nights, believers fulfill hygiene requirements, perform special ritual prayers, read the Koran and various prayers.

The use of alcohol, other intoxicating substances, the commission of acts prohibited by Islam, during the days of Muslim holidays, is especially condemned by Shariah.

The most important thing is to reconsider your life, your actions, thoughts that night. No one should forget that life on this earth will someday end, and the Day of Judgment will surely come.

Unlike the night of Qadr, when the whole life of a person is predetermined until its end, on the night of Baraat the existence of people is determined for a year ahead.

According to popular Muslim belief, every year on this night there is a “shaking of the tree of life”, on the leaves of which the names of all living are written. It is believed that people whose names are written on fallen leaves will die within a year.

Muslims believe that on this sacred night, Allah descends to the lowest of the heavens in order to forgive the repentant sins and decide on the fate of each person, taking into account his piety and the requests expressed in prayers. Therefore, a believer in the Night of Baraat needs to ask for mercy from the Almighty, pray for forgiveness for the sins he has committed so that the leaf with his name does not fall.

The hadiths say that on this night the sins of all people are forgiven, except for apostates, envious people, slanderers, who drink alcohol, who have cut off ties with relatives, who disobey their parents, adulterers, arrogant people and provoke confusion.

It is advisable to spend the night in solitude, turning to Allah with prayers, remembering and praising the Almighty, reading the Koran. On this night, Muslims offer special prayers for the dead and, in atonement for sins, make vows for the future.

On this night, Muslims try to please relatives, neighbors, all acquaintances and strangers, visit each other, give gifts, and in no case try not to offend anyone.

Some believers fast the day after the night of Baraat and perform additional worship. In general, during the month of Shaaban, believers are advised to ask the Almighty for good health and ensuring fasting in Ramadan.

On the day of the holiday, Muslims visit the mosque, pray together and listen to the sermon of the imam, visit the burial places of the righteous, distribute alms and food to the poor, sweets to children.

The month of Shaaban itself, which falls on the “night of purification,” is a preparation for the month of Ramadan, during which Muslims fast during daylight hours. In 2016 it will start on June 6th.

On the eve of the blessed night of Baraat, before sunset, it is advisable for believers to read the following dua 40 times: “Subhanallahi wal-hamdulillahi wa la ilaha illallahu wallahu akbar wa la hawla wa la kuvvata illa billahil galiyil gazim.”

Then you need to read 100 times salawat to the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). And after the obligatory evening prayer, six rak'ahs of nafil prayer should be performed, performing two rak'ahs separately. Then it is advisable to read Surah Yasin with the above intentions.

Having completed the reading of Surah Yasin, it is advisable to read the dua: “In the name of Allah, Merciful to everyone in this world and in the next world only to those who believe! O Allah, O Possessor of Mercy, who does not need the mercy of others, O Possessor of Majesty and Generosity, O Possessor of all blessings! There is no god to be worshiped but You. Blessings of Allah and peace [well-being] to the Prophet Muhammad, his family [community] and companions.

The dua of the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is known, which he read that night: “O Allah! I seek Your forgiveness from torment, Your contentment from Your wrath. I am powerless to praise You enough. You are as great as You praise Yourself."

Here is another dua that the Messenger of the Almighty (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) read on the night of Baraat: “O Allah! I take refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath. And I seek Your forgiveness from Your punishment. And I seek refuge in You from You. I am powerless to give you the praise you deserve. You are as great as You yourself praised yourself ”(at-Targhib wat-Tarhib).

It is reported that some spiritual mentors made the following dua that night: “O Allah! If you have written my name in the book of the happy, then leave it there. If you have written my name in the book of the unfortunate, then erase it from there. Since You said: « Allah cancels and confirms what He wills, [from the prescriptions], He keeps the essence of the book.(Sura "ar-Rad", 13/39; "Majmuatul-Ahzab").

The night of Baraat, and in Arabic it is called "Laylat-ul-Baraat", is designated in the Koran as sacred. This is a special night for any Muslim when he can ask for the mercy and forgiveness of Allah. This is a great night when those who believe in the One Creator completely surrender to His worship. Baraat in Arabic means "non-involvement", "complete separation", "purification". The night of Baraat comes on the night of the 14th to the 15th of the month of Shaban (according to another version, from 15 to 16).

She was named so because this night there are two “deliverances”: the deprivation of the unfortunate (sinners before the Almighty) of the mercy of the Creator and the deliverance of awliya (the favorites of Allah, who approached Him through zealous worship) from failures and helplessness.

Imam Subuki writes in tafsirs: “Verily, this night washes away the sins of the whole year, and Friday night washes away the sins of the week, and the night of predestination (laylat-ul-qadr) is the sins of all life”, i.e., the revival of these nights is the cause of washing away sins, and therefore this night (Baraat) is called the night of washing away sins.

This night is called the “night of life” because of the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), which was transmitted by Munziri: “The heart of the one who revives the festive night and the night of the middle of the month of Shaban will not die on the day of death of hearts.”

This night is called the night of intercession due to the fact that it was transmitted: “The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the Almighty on the 13th night of intercession for his ummah, and Allah gave him intercession for only three. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for intercession on the 14th night, and the Almighty gave him intercession for thirty, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked on the 15th night, and the Almighty gave him intercession for the entire ummah, except for those people who ran away from Allah, like a camel runs away (meaning those who have moved away from Allah by constancy in committing sins).

Also, the night of Baraat is called the “night of forgiveness” because of the hadith transmitted by Imam Ahmad, in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: “Verily, the Almighty turns on the night of the middle of the month of Shaban to His servants and forgives all the inhabitants of the earth, except for the polytheist and a man who has quarreled with his brother or holds malice and hatred towards him in his heart.

This night is called the "night of liberation" because of the hadith narrated from Ibn Ishaq and from Anas ibn Malik, where Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) conveys the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Aisha, don't you know that this night is the night of the middle of Shaban? Indeed, on this night, Allah frees His servants from Hell according to the number of hairs in the wool of the Banu Kalb sheep, except for the following categories of people: constantly using intoxicants, disobeying parents and harming them, adultery, constant in sin, interrupting family and friendly relations, sowing confusion, slanderers."

Also, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “When the night of the middle of Shaban comes, revive it and fast the next day. Indeed, the Almighty says: “Is there anyone who asks for forgiveness so that I forgive him? Is there anyone who is being tested so that I can deliver him from them? Is there anyone who asks for food so that I can give it to him? And so the Almighty lists people with various requests until dawn comes.

In the book “Ravz ul Afkar” a story is given: “Once Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him) passed by a mountain and saw a white stone in it, and the prophet Isa (peace be upon him) began to circle around him, examining him and wondering at him. And the Almighty sent down a revelation to him: “Do you want me to show you something that is more amazing than what you saw?” And the prophet Isa (peace be upon him) said: “Yes.” And the stone split, and inside it was a man, in whose hands was a green staff, and near him was a vine tree. And this man said: "This is my daily sustenance." And the prophet Isa (peace be upon him) asked: “How many years have you worshiped Allah in this stone?” He replied: "400 years." And the prophet Isa (peace be upon him) exclaimed: “O my Lord, I do not think that You created a creation better than this.” And the Almighty replied: "The one who makes two rak'ahs on the night of the middle of Shaban from the Ummah of Muhammad is dearer to Me than 400 years of worship." And then the prophet Isa (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “If I were from the Ummah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)!”.

Sheikh Abdulaziz Darini said: "Tasbih prayer is what the righteous people were constant in." And, of course, it will be good if you perform tasbih prayer on this night and the night of the raghaib.

Ata ibn Yasar said: “After the night of Laylat-ul-kadr, there is no better night than the night of the middle of Shaban, and this is the night when a prayer is accepted.”

The most important thing is to reconsider your life, actions, thoughts that night. We should not forget that life on this earth will someday end, and we will return to Allah. And the Day of Judgment will surely come. On this night, events take place, blessings are given, death and illness come, and they will be transferred to the appropriate angels. Therefore, a Muslim should not treat this sacred night casually: a true believer does not forget for a moment that he was created by Allah and will be returned to Him. Vigilance will lead a Muslim to happiness in this and the next world.

The sacred hadith tells about the blessed night of Laylat-ul-Baraat, which for believers is a night of great mercy and forgiveness of sins. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) reported the following: “As soon as night falls in the middle of the month of Shaban, spend it in worship, and fast during the day. Indeed, on this night, starting from sunset, Allah sends down His mercy on the firmament of the earth and commands as follows: “Are there any who repent before Me? - I will forgive them; Are there any who ask for good things? - I will give them; are there any sick people? “I will bring healing.” And so it continues until the morning. Our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Allah in the middle of the month of Shaban looks at the situation of His servants. He forgives everyone except the polytheists and the vindictive."

Another hadith says: “Allah, on the night of the middle of the month of Shaban, showing the blessings in the firmament of the earth, will forgive the sins of people, the number of which exceeds the number of hairs on the skins of rams of the Kelb family.”

However, it is important to remember here that this night, Almighty Allah will not look at the faces (i.e., will not forgive sins and will not honor mercy) of those who profess polytheism, feel anger towards Muslims, break off relations with relatives, show arrogance and contradict parents, use alcohol, commits adultery, provokes confusion, apostates from Islam, as well as slanderers, if they do not sincerely repent.

Allah on the night of Baraat accepts repentance and does not spare His mercy and forgiveness for those who sincerely worship Him and ask for his forgiveness. It is enough for a Muslim to turn to Him with repentance and supplication. The main thing is sincerity. On this sacred night of forgiveness, Muslims should wholeheartedly turn to the Almighty, ask Him to accept good deeds and forgive sins.

Each person should carefully analyze all his actions, deeds that were committed during the year. And in the event that something is found that contradicts the Creator's commands, one must repent and not return to this again. If suddenly someone was offended by you, then you should make peace, as befits brothers, because all Muslims are brothers. On this night, all believers must give up malice, enmity, pride and disobedience to their parents with the intention of never returning to them. Otherwise, all this will alienate us from the grace and value of Laylat-ul-Baraat. One should try to spend the holy night of Baraat in service: praying, reading the Koran, making dua, visiting elders, especially honoring parents in order to receive blessings from them. Also in Laylat-ul-Baraat, it is recommended to remember and wish mercy, forgiveness, prosperity to the dead Muslims and tell children about the dignity and value of this night.

From the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) we know that this is one of the nights when the Almighty accepts the prayers and requests of His servants. Among other things, it is advisable to read Surah Yasin three times that night. The first time - to prolong life, the second - to avoid troubles and misfortunes, the third - to increase the benefits. Know that happiness and salvation are possible if you live according to the commands of Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). May the Almighty forgive and be merciful to all Muslims on this night.

I would like to cite as an example the dua of our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), which he read that night: “O Allah! I seek Your forgiveness from torment, Your contentment from Your wrath. I am powerless to praise You enough. You are as great as You praise Yourself."

On the eve of the blessed night of Baraat, before sunset, it is advisable to read the following dua 40 times:

“Subhanallahi wal-hamdulillahi wa la ilaha illallahu wallahu akbar wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahil aliyil azim.”

After this, dua 100 times - salavat (greeting) to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). And after the obligatory Maghrib (evening) prayer, six rak'ahs of nafil-namaz (desirable) should be performed, performing two rak'ahs separately. Then it is advisable to read Surah Yasin with the above intentions.

Also, after reading Surah Yasin, it is advisable to turn to Allah with the following dua:

“With the name of Allah, Merciful to everyone in this world and in the next world only to those who believe!

O Allah, O Possessor of Grace, who does not need the mercy of others, O Possessor of Majesty and Generosity, O Possessor of all blessings! There is no god to be worshiped but You.

You help those who ask You for help, You protect those who ask You for protection, those who are in danger resort to You, You are the safety of those who seek it.

Blessings of Allah and peace be upon our master Muhammad, his family and companions.”
