We cannot boast of good mobility. Serious armor makes itself felt in this matter and it is worth noting that although the ST-1 WoT has a good top speed, he gains it reluctantly due to the weak ratio of horsepower per ton, and our maneuverability is completely weak.

ST-I gun

In terms of armament, a 122 mm cannon is installed on board, the same as that of the top heavy arm of this IS-4 branch, but, of course, some parameters are tweaked for the worse.

If you look at the serious one-time damage, there are no complaints, armor penetration is also good, but the rate of fire let us down, and in view of this, the DPM ST-1 gun does not produce very good, approximately 1985 without equipment.

Tactics of the game on ST-1

We have a very strong machine in our hands, endowed with unprecedentedly strong armor and powerful weapons. This unit can no doubt be called a real breakthrough tank, but due to limited mobility, you need to choose the direction of attack carefully.

Of course, on the CT-I, the tactics of combat is to position yourself on the first line. You have to learn how to play from the tower as well as possible. Thanks to its strength and comfortable vertical aiming angles, you can use various ruins, embankments and terrain so that almost no one can break through you.

But it is important to understand that it is better not to show the CT-1 World of Tanks corps at all, to take positions where artillery cannot fire at you freely and you always have to dance. By moving slightly back and forth and slightly turning the turret from side to side, you make it harder to target the vulnerable command hatch.

In such realities, the Soviet heavy tank ST-1 WoT should play from alpha. Having made a shot, it is advisable to hide for the duration of reloading. If tanking only with the turret is not possible, try to rotate the hull, which will increase the angle of the reduced armor and increase the chances of not penetrating or ricocheting.

Another good trick, especially on city maps, is tanking with a reverse diamond. The ST-1 tank has strong sides and showing them from behind the building at a good angle, it will also be difficult to break through you.

For the rest, it is better not to be alone, even such a giant is very vulnerable to a superior number of maneuverable opponents. Keep an eye on the mini-map, assess the situation in the battle, and if you are not sure in any of the directions, it is better not to go far from the base so that there is a chance to return and break the capture.

Tank ST-1
Summarizing the available information for 1945, domestic engineers began to create a project for a heavy tank. This design of the tank involved the elimination of known shortcomings and the introduction of new solutions to the heavy tank model:
- a built-in gun of large or medium caliber, plus two machine guns - small-caliber automatic guns;
- accommodation in the tank of the crew: the driver - the front of the tank, the gunner and the vehicle commander - the front of the turret, the loaders - the rear of the turret, behind the commander and gunner, respectively (the location of the vehicle commander is not accidental - thus, more full review, the presence of 2 loaders in the tank should provide an increased rate of fire);
- the niche of the tower has a pocket in which the ammunition for the gun was placed. This arrangement is possible for various types of ammunition, which also leads to an increase in the rate of fire;
- in addition, the sleeve guard is provided with a centering cartridge, a swinging spring-loaded roller, which reduces the loading action and increases the rate of fire;
- in the design of the gun, a distant nozzle special nozzle was used, which provides an increase in the speed of the ammunition with the standard characteristics of the gun and ammunition;
- to stabilize the gun vertically, a special lifting mechanism was used to stabilize the artillery system of the moving part of the gun mount;
- to stabilize the turret in the horizontal plane, a rotary special stabilization mechanism was used;
- to counter air targets, a semi-armored small-caliber gun was installed on the hatch of one of the loaders, provided with a hinged shoulder pad to improve aiming. Firing from this large-caliber machine gun does not affect the performance of the task by the tank crew - one of the loaders is firing. Such a design is implemented in a sample of a heavy tank;
- special footrest with a rocking lever of hand-foot design, provides a convenient foot drive for horizontal turns of the tower part in electric or hydro design;
- to rotate the tower, the Ampledin or Ward-Leonardo method was used. Duplicate control of the turn is at the commander of the machine;
- precisely calculated structurally and technologically installation of the gun in the turret of the tank - a box-shaped frame with a cradle mounted on the trunnions of the gun was used. The frame itself is welded to the cradle, which significantly reduces possible problems with the installation of guns inside the tower;
- a breech-loading mortar mounted on a tank provides smoke masking of the tank, as well as the possibility of using fragmentation-type mines against enemy manpower;
- the tower part has three hatches - commander's and loaders, which increased the exit-entry time of the crew and the possibility of servicing a heavy machine gun;
- it is possible to install a freely rotating hatch for the commander;
- weapons sights - a breaking monocular sight with magnification and a wide view for a gun, a sighting and collimator sights for a heavy machine gun;
- to improve ventilation, they used the suction of gases from the fighting compartment from the spent cartridges that fly out of the breech of the gun from the sleeve fencing pipe using a fan;
- for general ventilation, a blower fan was used and placed on the gun;
- air supply to the units in the turret, possibly additionally from the propulsion system through the air WU;
- for the commander of the machine, a rotating seat with a special footrest was installed;
- loaders were provided with removable suspension seats;
- almost all the ammunition was located in the tower, to increase the rate of fire;
- the loophole assembly provided increased armor protection of the frontal part of the turret compartment;
- inflatable tubes used in special grooves ensured sealing of the turret skirt;
- possible underwater movement of the tank, for which they used a flexible hose with a float for the suction pipe of the engine;
- when underwater, the tank is provided with an increase in pressure to minimize the ingress of water inside;
- it is possible to quickly remove the gun, for this they equipped the tower with a hatch in its niche;
- to ensure the survivability of the chassis and increase its dynamics, large-sized support-type rollers were used.

Tank ST-II
The lead engineers of the project are Chasovnikov and Garin. The ST-II tank was designed as a powerful armored vehicle with a fast-firing large-caliber gun. This design continued the development of the ST-1, and the main differences were to improve the accuracy of fire and increase the rate of fire of the gun:
- the installation in the tower of 2 guns of large or medium caliber, as well as 2 machine guns (small-caliber rapid-fire guns) is used;
- the guns are serviced by 2 loaders, which ensures a high rate of fire from two guns;
- the tank can accurately and quickly hit the target from the second gun, due to zeroing from another gun;
- in case of possible breakdowns of one gun, firing continues with the second gun - the tank is fully operational;
- Armor, remote control power, the mass of the tank to one gun has doubled - accuracy and shooting on the move increase;
In terms of combat characteristics, such a tank should surpass 2 tanks of the same type. For other characteristics, units and assemblies, the ST-II repeats the design of the ST-1 tank.


ST-1 in modern realities patch 0.9.0 remains a very dangerous opponent for an inexperienced player who does not know that the IS-4 was once at level 9 with a "beautiful" mechanic hatch. But here you met in a head-on battle with ST-1, and after a couple of shots a natural question arises -

After all, it would seem that when shooting from a decent gun with a penetration of about 200 mm, we cannot even penetrate the commander's cupola, and if a player on ST1 dances competently, we constantly hear a ricochet if we try to penetrate into the lower armor plate. Where to pierce ST-1 in the forehead?

I’ll note right away that CT1 is a very dangerous opponent if it is in the hands of a skillful player who competently uses the terrain or strengths booking this tank.
And here are three, yes, only three vulnerabilities during a head-on encounter with ST-1, which can be more or less guaranteed to be penetrated.

Upper frontal detail (VLD) it breaks through in close combat, the thickness of the armor is “only” 140 mm, but due to the angles of inclination at a distance of more than 100 meters, it is problematic to penetrate the VLD.


Lower frontal detail (NLD) and driver's hatch it is much easier to break through at CT1 than VLD, and in fact this is the only place where CT-1 can be pierced very easily.

Where is it guaranteed to pierce ST-1 in the forehead?

commander's cupola the ST-1 also has excellent penetration, but only with a gun with a penetration of more than 220 mm, since one should not forget about the angles of the turret, which add about 20 mm of armor to the 200 already existing.


But if you managed to get into the side of the ST-1, it will be very easy to break through it, as you can see in the screenshot, here the armor thickness is only 140 mm, which allows us to “punish” a heavy tank of the USSR level 9 without any problems. Booking and location of modules.

The frontal armor of the hull is less than that of the German colleagues and is 140mm, but with a good inclination of the VLD, it will be problematic for classmates to break through the hull in the forehead. For tanks with a penetration of up to 260mm, it will be difficult to break through the hatch, things are much easier with the NLD, the slope of the NLD at the tank is small and I break through all and sundry there, but the size of the NLD, compared to German colleagues, complicates the task. Frontal armor of the turret, top, has no flaws, the turret is able to withstand level 10 tank destroyers on gold!! Armor, gun mantlet is 300mm, but small sizes will be very difficult to target, cheek armor is 500mm!! And the armor of the hatch on the turret is 220mm, and for tanks of level 7 and some tanks of level 8 it will be unrealistic to break through.

Pros and cons of this unit.

Armor. The hull armor is decent, it will not work to tank with the forehead, but we tank better than anyone with the side. The tank turret is a steel fortress that cannot be penetrated and will adequately withstand a blow from even the most dangerous tank.

UVN. Good HPs are a great way to tank with a tower using uneven terrain.

Suitable gun 122 mm M62-T2. It would be better, but the dpm and mixing of the IS-8 is better.

Small review

Long mixing 122mm M62-T2. 3.4 seconds compared to the mixing of the same gun in the IS-8, 2.9 seconds, just a shame.

It is not recommended to clinch with tanks with a high silhouette (E-100, Yaga E-100, Mouse) because for them it is just a gift in the form of a free frag, because their gun is ideally located near the hatch in the turret, and we we won’t be able to do anything, because it won’t work to penetrate the E-100 in the forehead, and it’s unrealistic to aim the observation slot on the roof in the clinch. Tactics

Our main goal will be to help the team by disabling enemy tank modules and killing their tankers. If the enemy team has German ATs from the waffle branch, then we are very lucky! These are almost the only tanks on which we can get decent damage.


So, with grief in half, we have accumulated a sufficient amount of experience on the BL-9. With this gun, we will finally be able to fight back against tanks of 9 levels. With this gun, it will not be difficult to save up for a top turret. This is where the fun begins! The tactics of the game are in many ways similar to the tactics of playing on American tanks, such as T32, T29. We stand behind a pebble or a dead tank, set up a turret and distribute goodies left and right, and we ourselves get solid ricochets and non-penetration. In one battle, you can receive up to 15k(!) potential damage! And finally, we research and buy a top gun. With this gun, we pierce absolutely everything and everything. As I said above, it makes no sense to install an engine, since the tank is rather slow, and the engine will not give a special increase. Combat use

ST-1 is mainly used to push through enemy defenses. Very good performance armor and guns allow us to fight on equal terms with any tank of level 9-10.
