The width of the door frames of interior doors. Standard dimensions of the door frame of the interior door and self-measurement Door frame 8 cm thick

Interroom doors are intended for separation of two internal rooms. Depending on which rooms they delimit, they distinguish the parameters of the openings, the material of the door, the methods of opening, the presence decorative elements and geometric parameters of the canvas. The standard size of the box in each case may be different.

Door block dimensions

Domestic door blocks can be 60-90 cm wide (depending on whether single or double doors), and 1.9-2 m high. Such norms, taking into account the box, are fixed by Soviet GOSTs for standard buildings.

European parameters of a single-leaf door: height - up to 2.3 m: width 60-90 cm (to the bathroom - 55 cm). For a double-leaf door - the width is 1-1.8 m. At the same time, if the door has the same leaves, the width of the canvases will be 0.7 m, with different dimensions - 0.6 and 0.8 m.

The box can come as a set or be a set of bars that must be assembled immediately before installing the door. In thickness, it can be 1.5-4.5 cm, which means that the width of the opening should be twice the width of the canvas. The same rule applies to height, subject to the presence or absence of a threshold.

Standard sizes interior doors with a box according to Euro standards are often indicated in modules (one module is 10 cm). If M21 is written on the marking, the door height is 2.1 m. What options can be found on the modern market are shown in the table in the photo.

If you take measurements yourself, you must take into account the requirements of SNiPs: the door must open in such a way as not to block access to other rooms or passages. In addition, it is necessary to think in advance what material the door will be made of (plastic, MDF, wood). In some cases, it is more expedient to expand the opening itself and order doors for non-standard sizes with a different opening radius, for example, if the canvas covers furniture or the entrance to a nearby room. It is more profitable to install a telescopic door.

How to determine the right size

With the help of a plumb line or level, the verticality of the slopes is determined, measuring them from both sides, and drawing a horizontal line, find the width. Height is measured from highest point on the floor to a horizontal line drawn from the corner of the opening.

The depth of the opening is measured along both walls and from above. On all slopes, measurements are taken at the top, bottom and in the middle. With the old door not removed, the thickness of the box and the parameters of its protrusion beyond the wall are determined.

Standard and custom sizes

The regulated heights of the interior canvas: 190-200 cm. They are used for openings of 194-203 cm and 204-211 cm. A door of 190 cm is produced with a width of 55 or 60 cm. For canvases of 20 cm - 60, 70, 80, 90 cm and double doors, with a width of 120, 140, 150 cm. The width of one leaf is 60 cm, the second can be the same or 80, 90 cm. Conditional dimensions in the table Further.

Which doors to choose are standardized by GOST. The living room needs a double door. The width is 60 cm of one leaf or 40 and 80 cm, which gives a total of 1.2 m. The height is 2 m with an opening depth of 7-20 cm.

In the living room, you can install a door with dimensions of 80x200 cm, with the same opening depth. To the kitchen: 70x200 cm, and for the bathroom - 55x190 cm or 60x200 cm, wall thickness - 5-7 cm.

If you need a door of non-standard sizes, you will have to do individual order. For the price, it will be 25-40% more expensive. An increase in cost can also be expected with extraordinary design solutions(stained-glass windows, forging, bas-reliefs).

Before purchasing a door, it is simply necessary to measure the size of the opening. The fact is that GOSTs of past times adopted a standard height of 2 m. But modern manufacturers are guided by new parameters of 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 m. However, not all new buildings are built according to these standards. It is important to remember that if the door is larger than the opening, the situation is fixable, but if it is smaller, nothing can be done.

If the dwelling has high ceilings, interior doors should also be higher than standard sizes. Here, the cost of an individual order cannot be avoided. Therefore, the dimensions of future canvases with a box and the mechanism for opening them must be calculated at the draft stage. repair work. And which model to install, choose the owners, based on the comfort of opening.

To determine the height of the opening, it is necessary to decide whether the doors will be installed without a threshold elevation or with it.

As an example, let's take the following parameters: height - 2 m, width - 0.8 m, box thickness - 0.03 m.

Calculation of the opening width: 0.8 + 2x0.03 + 2x0.015 = 0.89 m. Here 0.015 m - indicate the approximate size of the gap that is needed to align the box with respect to the slopes.

In the absence of a threshold, the width calculations are as follows: 200+3+1.5+1=205.5 cm (2.055 m). In this case, 1 cm will be needed for the clearance left under the door. If there is a threshold, 1 cm is added to its height. The parameters that are needed for the door: 0.89x2.055 m.

door material

Plastic is the lightest - up to 5 kg. Such a door will not be able to cause serious injury when opened if another person is behind it. It will not cause trouble in operation for people with disabilities or children. Suitable for common areas: bathrooms, kitchen, utility room, as well as for a nursery or bedroom.

A glass interior door can weigh up to 19-23 kg. It is usually installed at the entrance to the living room or delimit the space in the kitchen on working area and a dining room.

Wooden doors are the heaviest - 26-45 kg. Such models are suitable for offices, libraries. With stained glass inserts - for the living room or dining room.

When choosing what the door will be made of and what dimensions it will be, you need to know the characteristics of the partition: what it is made of and whether it is load-bearing.

It is known that furniture comes in standard and non-standard sizes. In the first case, it is easy to find suitable items and easily repair them. And their price is more affordable, since production does not require equipment setup. In the second case, it is much more difficult to choose a product with suitable parameters, and custom-made will cost more.

The thickness of the door frame of the interior door refers precisely to such parameters.

The emergence of the standard

The emergence of a standard for any product is associated with several factors. For kitchen furniture, these are, for example, ergonomics and dimensions kitchen appliances, for a bookcase - book sizes that are quite standardized. Doorways are also made based on certain rules:

  • the width of the opening cannot be less than 60 cm. Otherwise, it will be practically impossible to use it;
  • the same parameter for a single-leaf design cannot be more than 120 cm, since in this case the canvas will have excessive mass;
  • height, as a rule, is limited to 2100 cm, and it is found even lower, since houses with very low ceilings were built in the USSR;
  • the material of the wall practically does not affect the thickness of the box, but the thickness of the canvas matters;
  • taken into account when developing the frame material web. As a rule, the frame and the canvas are made from the same material, so that the weight match is observed here. But when replacing a product, this feature must be taken into account.

Dimensional parameters

A store or custom build will usually offer the model along with the box. Moreover, when choosing dimensions, attention is drawn precisely to the overall dimensions. They measure the dimensions of the entire block, add 1.5 cm each and get the opening parameters that are needed to install the door.

If we are not talking about a main wall with a very large thickness, then adjusting the dimensions of the opening to the dimensions of the canvas in the frame is easier and, ultimately, cheaper than ordering a product under the opening.

On average, the box adds 70 mm to the canvas around the perimeter. The standard dimensions of the box correlate with the parameters of the sash itself as follows.

Dimensions of interior door frames: width, height and thickness.

Interior door door frame
Height, mm Width, mm Height, mm Width, mm
2000 600 2071 671
2000 700 2071 770
2000 800 2071 870
2000 900 2071 970
2000 1202 2071 1272
2300 900 2371 970
2300 1402 2371 1472
2300 1802 2371 1872

The last 2 options suggest the presence of 2 valves, at least a narrow inactive one and a wide active one.

  • What thickness of the interior door frame is suitable depends on the size of the wall. The thickness of the opening wall in most buildings is 75 mm. Accordingly, the standard thickness of the interior door frame is 75 mm. A value of 95 mm is very rare, and even less common is 65 mm.

If the wall differs in very atypical dimensions, then they resort to special techniques. For example, with a large value, the opening is blocked with the help of an expander - a slope or an extension. And if the wall is too narrow, then even cutting the frame is allowed, so long as it can hold the canvas. In the photo - the design of the opening with slopes.

It is much more convenient to consider the parameters of the kit, and not the canvas, due to the fact that the finished block provides gaps for the free opening of the sash and for installing fittings. If the frame is selected separately, the gaps must be taken into account independently, and their size depends on the material of the web.

materials

It is best if the entire door block is made of the same material. Firstly, the same material reacts to changes in temperature and moisture in the same way. Secondly, the material wears out in approximately the same way, which does not cause aesthetic dissonance.

This parameter does not affect the dimensions of the interior door frame in terms of thickness, however, if it is necessary to use expanders, it becomes important.

  • Solid wood is expensive and beautiful material, which is always popular. However, the array noticeably reacts to dampness.

  • MDF is the most popular material. Its size constancy compares favorably with wood: under the influence of temperature or dampness, the canvas does not change. MDF may have different coverage, which both increases the cost and reduces the cost of the product:
    • veneer - a cut of natural wood. This option cannot be distinguished from the array, and its resistance to dampness is higher;
    • eco-veneer is a multi-layer plastic that accurately reproduces the color and texture of wood. Ecoveneer has a very high wear resistance, so it is recommended to use it in public places;
    • melamine film - a common coating for the material, reproduces the color, but not the structure of the wood.

The owner of the house sooner or later has to decide on the replacement of doors. The old door leaf can be broken, outdated in design, not liked by your own appearance. Sometimes you have to increase or decrease the doorway, for this you need to know how to correctly measure the thickness of the door frame. About questions related to self-installation or changing doors, we'll talk in our article.

Door dimensions

This work is not very difficult, and an amateur who knows how to use the instrument a little can cope with it. It is very important to do everything consistently and strictly adhere to technology.

There are standard sizes in the domestic market door leaf. This is due to the fact that the equipment on which the doors are made has standard width formats: 60 cm, 70 cm, 80 cm, 90 cm.

At the same time, the height remains constant - two meters. Often, non-standard doors are required, the height of which can be 3 meters, and the width - one meter.

If the customer requires other sizes, then the price will be higher for the following reason:

  • Equipment reconfiguration.
  • Extra time costs.
  • Production of a product by the individual order.

Some customers order sliding, double doors. The production of such products is much more expensive. Often, expensive non-standard materials e.g. redwood.

  • It's good to calculate everything.
  • Decide on the material.
  • Remove all dimensions.

The most reasonable option is to call the master who will manufacture the product so that he personally inspects the “front” of the future work. A professional person can do everything organizational work perform faster and more accurately. Also, the specialist will give qualified advice on the door unit itself and its further operation. If there is a strong desire to install the door yourself, you will have to study the process of measurement and installation a little so that the end result does not disappoint.

By measuring the opening under the door, you can choose a completely new location for its location, which may be more convenient. Always leave a distance of 20-30 centimeters from the wall to the door so that a switch can be installed there, and the door can also open more than at an angle of ninety degrees.

Be sure to check whether it is possible to cut a new doorway in a particular wall.

If the building is old, then an extra opening can provoke the destruction of the wall.

Taking measurements

The door frame is a U-shaped or O-shaped design. The last option occurs if a threshold is provided. The element is fixed in the opening, the door leaf is hung on it.

The profile of the door frame has a non-rectangular design, usually a protrusion of 0.5-1 cm is the protrusion with which, after complete installation the door will slam shut, which will cause it to open in one (necessary) direction. In some assemblies, rubber noise insulation is attached to this very ledge, which also prevents the canvas from getting damaged during use and the door slams softly and smoothly. But also this protrusion hides the opening space a little, and as a result you get not 60, but 58 cm of width. This moment should be taken into account when you plan to bring furniture or interior items through the installed door.

It is also worth noting that during the repair the door is installed last. Usually, the ceiling, walls, floor are made first, only after everything is invited the master to install doors and platbands, if necessary. Of course, sometimes the ceiling can be left for the completion of repair work, but the floor with walls is what the future door will be attached to, and therefore it is worth taking care of finishing them in advance. To do this, it is necessary that the width, height, depth of the opening for the dimensions are correctly calculated new door.

How to correctly remove these dimensions, consider the example of a door leaf with dimensions of 2000 by 60 cm:

  • With a height of 200 cm, you need to add 3-4 cm (thickness of the MDF board, chipboard or wood that you are going to install). Add 3-4 cm (opening between the board and the wall for good fixation polyurethane foam and wooden pegs), so, 200 + 4 + 4 = 208 cm (masters advise adding no more than 10 cm, 6-8 is ideal).
  • With a width of 60 centimeters, we do the same - 60 + 4 + 4 = 68 cm or 60 + 3 + 3 = 66, you can take the average value - 67 cm (no more than 10 cm for reliable fixation).

A gap of 10 cm should be left only if you are not sure about the dimensions of the future door and are going to change it over time to another one. So it will be easier to increase the opening during subsequent work after a certain time.

Veneered doors have a larger frame size due to their top coating.

When forming a doorway at the repair stage, one should not lose sight of flooring. Some substrates for laminate flooring are more than one centimeter wide, or when pouring the floor, it may take 2-5 cm, even ordinary linoleum takes from one centimeter. This must be taken into account so that later the classic mistake of novice masters does not turn out, when the prepared height of 2.08 m turns into 2.01 m. Often you have to cut off a piece of the top of the opening again for optimal door installation. If you do everything right preparatory work, then it will not be difficult to put a new door.

Standard Thickness door frame interior door is 3.5 centimeters. Today, the production of boxes of non-standard sizes is increasingly common (in everyday life they are called lightweight). Their use is due to the need to install the canvas a little wider in size.

When determining the thickness of the doorway, the following points must be considered:

  • In standard houses, it is usually 7-10 cm before plastering the walls, which allows you to have sound insulation between rooms at a low level. Plaster usually takes 1-5 cm, this certainly makes the sound quieter when passing through the wall.
  • Well, if you decide to install a profile with glass wool, then you can safely add all 10-15 cm to the additional board when ordering a box. The opening is supplemented with such boards if the standard amount (7-10 cm) is not enough to completely overlap.

There are two types of additional boards (slats) - telescopic and conventional. The usual additional bar - just wooden plank, cut off on both sides (on one side rests against the box, on the other - with a casing, if you look at the door in the section). Telescopic - this is a box with special grooves inside for installing extensions or platbands. Telescopic is the most convenient and durable option, because the fasteners will be less subjected to mechanical stress during installation and, as a result, will last longer than ordinary additional strips.

accessories

Hardware for doors in today's market is a fairly popular and diverse product in style and shape. Top Models now they are made in Italy, France and Spain, but domestic production has recently been practically not inferior to European counterparts (except in price).

Door salons usually work for a long time with the same supplier, for the quality of which they are responsible. You can always return or change the purchased products and again choose hinges, locks, handles yourself. If it is not possible to install fittings, this can be done by the on-call masters.

Block mounting

Installation of a door block (cloth + frame) is not always carried out by specialists on foam for installation, but any of the methods implies the use of one. Exist various techniques according to the type of additional fasteners that are used during installation. Basically, spacers or pegs made of wood are used, they are inserted into the cavity between the opening and the box. With the help of such elements, the block in the opening is also aligned with the mounting level: each peg must be driven in tightly so that the box does not turn out to be deformed, while the entire block is firmly held in the opening.

When the new doorway is securely fastened with wooden stakes, with help. It is very important to use horizontal stakes inside the space from the box to the wall so that after expansion the foam does not cause visible changes in the structure of the box. It is recommended to ensure that there are no distortions, the doors in the section must remain within given dimensions. All this will guarantee that the door will last for many years.

After applying the mounting foam, it is advisable not to use the door for some time, but to leave it closed for a day (until the foam has completely solidified, in order to avoid deformation of the box).

Examples and variants

The door leaf should be chosen, starting from the fullness of light in the room where the new door will be installed. It is even possible to install all-glass, frosted or sandblasted doors, if the purpose of the room behind the door allows it. Daylight will penetrate well through such doors, which will save on electricity, and besides, daylight is much more favorably perceived by the human eye.

Sooner or later, every apartment owner has to deal with a problem overhaul, during which it will be necessary to replace the door frames for interior doors. The task of installing a door frame in a doorway does not require any specific carpentry skills, the main thing is attention and accuracy in work.

How to put a door frame, sequence of operations

Any work on replacing door frames begins with a study of the width and condition of the walls, the old loot and the opening. Often the walls themselves, brick and concrete require cosmetic repairs, finishing and restoration of plaster, therefore, before assembling the door frame, it is necessary to remove the trim and restore the integrity of the brickwork.

The very procedure for installing the door frame of an interior door is simple, and its implementation fits into a few simple operations:

  • They remove the door, saw the loot in width with a hand saw and carefully dismantle the old box, freeing the doorway;
  • Measure the width of the doorway in at least four places. If you plan to install a new door of greater width, you will need to cut vertical walls opening with a grinder and a perforator. But this must be done very carefully so as not to break the brickwork;
  • Measure the exact width and height of the new door. Measure on the wall the required dimensions of the doorway, taking into account allowances for the thickness of the boards and the width of the gaps. The overall width of the opening will be determined as the width of the interior door frame plus 25mm per side for mounting hardware and foam;
  • Mark the beam or board purchased to assemble the box, cut down the joints on the jambs, sew it on with self-tapping screws and try it on for a new door. Install the box in the doorway, check the width and fix it with self-tapping screws and foam.

Advice! If you are not completely confident in your skills and an accurate understanding of how to install and fasten the door frame, you can participate in the process of replacing the door frame with neighbors or friends, make a trial drink with your own hands, or watch a video, for example:

Which door frame option to choose

Factory-made interior doors are often produced and sold with a set of standard-width door frames disassembled. This option saves you from having to choose the width of the box with your own hands, but there are no guarantees that the door frame is assembled correctly. Therefore, often the door of the required width is bought separately, and the board or MDF-MDF boards separately. Standard sizes of door frames - thickness and width of doors are given in the table:

In addition, when choosing the dimensions of the material for building a loot, it must be taken into account that the thickness of the door frame of an interior door is a standard value, but the walls in width, even within the same apartment, can vary greatly. Therefore, for each interior door, you have to check the width of the doorway, draw up your passport with dimensions and, if necessary, buy additional elements that allow you to expand the width of the door opening to the width of the walls.

For the manufacture of a loot or a door frame of the desired width, the following are most often used:

  1. Finished profile made of pressed fibreboard or MDF;
  2. Profiled pine board, suitable in width, the surface of which is sanded to the quality of a laminate or covered with a polymer film.

If you have a choice, use profiled softwood boards to assemble the door frame. Such a material has good machinability, high strength, and does not pick up moisture, like pressed materials made from paper and wood fibers.

Note! A self-tapping screw, screwed into the wood according to the rules, will provide 100% of the strength of the connection, a similar fastener for pressed paper provides 30% of the calculated strength of the fastener.

In addition, a pine frame will allow you to install heavier doors, such as MDF, glass or solid wood. Wood fiber materials are suitable only for the lightest cardboard structures.

We put a door frame of standard width

Before cutting the vertical and horizontal elements of the box, it is necessary to decide on the method of joining boards or timber into one structure. The most durable and easiest to manufacture is a thorn-groove joint. To do this, cut out two blanks of vertical racks - hinged and feigned parts. Double the thickness of the workpiece must be added to the estimated length of the rack. In a similar way, mark and cut out the ceiling beam. On the lintel, with the help of a drill and a hacksaw, spikes are cut out at both ends, on vertical posts along the finished spikes, the lintels are marked and the counterpart is cut in the form of grooves. The nut is made in the same way.

If the width of the wall is greater than the thickness of the box, the boards are built up with additional elements, as in the diagram.

If the width of the opening in the wall is greater than the size of the box, in this case, on outer part loot, from the side of the hinged or hinged timber, an additional timber segment is sewn, as in the diagram. If the width of the opening is too large, the feigned part of the box is also supplemented in a similar way.

On the side, the loot is performed on the door leaf laid in a horizontal position. After fitting all the parts and aligning the corners of the box, the joints are glued and connected with carpentry screws. To preserve the resulting geometry of the loot, the structure is sheathed with wooden planks - spacers, carefully removed from the door leaf and installed in the doorway.

Door frame installation

The plow will be set correctly if every movement or alignment is controlled with a spirit level. Due to the low rigidity, the design “plays”, therefore, immediately after installation, the box opening is slightly wedged with thin wooden blocks. To avoid extrusion of the sidewalls and the ceiling beam into the frame, use a pair of wooden spacers, as in the photo.

The box is pre-aligned according to the readings of the level gauge and notches are made on the walls, in the future they will help to quickly restore the previous position of the loot. Wooden structure fasten to the wall with long self-tapping screws, for heavy doors you can use anchor fasteners.

On the lintel and vertical racks, we drill two thin holes with an electric drill, 0.5 mm less than the diameter of the self-tapping screw. Next, we remove the loot, according to the marks of the drill on the walls, we punch holes and install dowels for 6 mm self-tapping screws.

We return the loot to its place, insert the screws and wrap it by 10-15 mm. After that, using the level, restore correct position box and screw fasteners to the full length. The gap between the beam and the wall is blown with foam.

Conclusion

Before the foam hardens, it is necessary to check the position of the door frame again according to the building level, if necessary, carefully knock out at the place of deviation. After the mounting foam gains half the rigidity, you need to tighten the screws again and close the hats with decorative caps. After installing the canopies, we fix the platbands.

Door blocks consist of two parts - a canvas and a box. Most of the produced door blocks have standard leaf sizes from 60 to 90 cm. The dimensions of the door frames, regardless of the dimensions of the door leaf, exceed its dimensions by a certain amount. But this figure is not a standard for all models of door blocks and may differ downwards in lighter door frames.

How to measure thickness?

First of all, let's define the terms and agree on what exactly is meant by the thickness of the door frame. Since this size is often confused with the depth of the box, we immediately clarify: take a look at the image below. The thickness of the door frame is the distance equal to the difference between the width of the door frame and the width of the door leaf divided in two. The depth on the diagram is signed as “The size of the wall thickness in the opening” and is 5-7 cm. The minimum depth for standard door frames is 65 mm. The remaining size options are already non-standard dimensions and to order, check their availability at the place of purchase.

Having decided on the concept of thickness, we calculate it for standard door blocks. For conventional door manufacturers, in classic door models, the dimensions of the door frame are 70 mm larger than the dimensions of the leaf, both in width and in height, if the frame is with a threshold. So, for example, for a door leaf 800 mm wide, the frame width will be 870 mm. By these dimensions, it is easy to find out what is the standard thickness of the door frame of interior doors. To do this, we use the formula:

  • Tk = (Shk - Shp) / 2

Where Tk is the thickness of the door frame, Shk is the width of the box, Shp is the width of the leaf

On the example of a door leaf with a width of 800 mm, the calculation will look like this:

  • Tk = (870 mm - 800 mm) / 2 = 35 mm

The resulting value will be standard thickness of the door frame of interior doors, she is equal to 35 mm.

There are also lightweight door frames, the dimensions of which differ from the standard ones. The thickness of such a box will be less than 35 mm, and before buying, check with the seller which door you are buying. Recently, door manufacturers have begun to produce more lightweight boxes and there is a possibility that when buying, you can accidentally choose just such a model. The thickness of the timber (or MDF) used for lightweight boxes is 25 mm.

Types of door frames on video

Why else do you need to know the thickness of the box?

It is no coincidence that the thickness of the door frame is 3.5 cm. As we already wrote, the dimensions of the doorway are also calculated depending on the size of the door leaf and in standard interior openings they are 10 cm larger than the width of the leaf. Thus, we get a distance from the canvas to the doorway equal to 5 cm. Here, 3.5 cm of the box thickness and 1.5 cm of a gap are placed to fix the door frame in the wall using mounting foam.

Installation door block(cloth + box) occurs not only on mounting foam. Although each method includes its use, technologies differ in the type of additional fasteners used during installation. Most often, simple wooden spacers or pegs are used, which are inserted into the space between the box and the opening. With their help, the block is aligned in the opening according to the level: each peg is driven in tightly so that the door frame is not deformed, but the entire block is held tightly in the opening. When it is firmly fixed with spacers, a mounting foam is applied to the voids using a special gun. It is also important to install horizontal braces inside the box so that the foam does not later deform the box when it expands.

Thus, we found out that the standard thickness of the door frame of an interior door is 3.5 cm. It is also important to remember that in last years Manufacturers are increasingly producing non-standard boxes. They are also called lightweight and are used in cases where there is a need to install a wider canvas in a small doorway.
