Heating a house with gas cylinders: the required fuel consumption. Heating a house with gas cylinders is a reliable way to build a heating system. Can a gas boiler run on a cylinder

In this article we will talk about what you need to know if you decide to heat your home with liquefied gas. Gas (a product of oil refining) is liquefied under high pressure, and in this state it is supplied to the consumer. This makes it possible to fill the cylinders with a large volume. The cylinder is connected to the heating boiler through a reducer (a device for reducing the pressure in the system). The gas leaving the cylinder passes through the reducer and, as a result of a rapid decrease in pressure, returns to its original (gaseous) state. In the boiler, it is burned, releasing a large number of heat.

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages:

 • gas is an environmentally friendly product and meets all regulations and standards;
 • autonomy, quite simple to connect and operate;
 • the pressure in the pipes is relatively stable;
 • gas consumption is minimal;
 • two times cheaper than diesel fuel.

Flaws:

 • at a negative temperature, if the cylinder is placed outside, the system may turn off, since the condensate, freezing, prevents the gas from escaping;
 • gas cylinders must be kept in a sufficiently warm place.

Fuels and basic rules

Cylinders can be filled with different grades of fuel:

 • technical butane- denoted by the abbreviation - B
 • a mixture of propane and butane technical summer - SPBTL
 • a mixture of propane and butane technical winter - SPBTZ.

Compliance simple rules security can save your life.

Heating system

The heating system itself consists of the following elements:

 1. Fuel, in our case, liquefied gas.
 2. Boiler, one or two circuit, with the transition to liquefied gas.
 3. Radiator, heat transfer element.
 4. piping system, to distribute heated water to radiators.

Let's take a closer look at the components of the entire system:

With fuel (gas), everything is clear enough, you just need to purchase new ones, quality cylinders, preferably 50 liters, or a gas tank (five cubic meters for storage liquefied gas, approximately 4250 l.). I advise you to purchase in a specialized store.

To calculate the gas consumed by the system, you need to know:

 • room area, which you are going to heat;
 • boiler power and coefficient of performance (COP).

Calculation of the cost of balloon heating

The heating season is approximately 6-7 months, multiply by 30 days and multiply by 24 hours, then multiply by 0.5 (factor to calculate the operating time gas burner in the boiler at maximum power, we take about 50% of the total time of the entire system) = 2520 hours.

To heat up 100 sq. m. premises, you will need a boiler with a capacity of approximately 10 kW.

Calculation of gas fuel consumption, which will be required for heating the house: 10 kW. hours * 2520 hours = 25,200 kW. h.

For a boiler with a power of 10 kW. and, with an efficiency of at least 90%, the fuel consumption (liquefied gas) is 0.86 kg/h:

 • calculation of gas consumption for heating a house will look like this: 0.86 kg / h * 2520 h = 2167.2 kg / year;
 • in a container for 27 liters of liquefied gas in total 11.5 kilograms;
 • the average cost of a liter of gas is approximately 14 rubles;

We calculate the cost of the required amount of liquefied gas for heating season: (2167.2 kg / year * 27 l. / 11.5 kg.) * 14 rubles. = 71 860 rubles per year.

If containers (bolons) of 50 liters are used. in which approximately 21.2 kg., liquid gas is filled: (2167.2 kg / year. * 50 l. / 21.2 kg.) * 14 rubles. = 71,558 rubles per year.

Of course example calculation, for a more accurate calculation, much more values are required (location of the house, area, degree of thermal insulation of the house, windows, doors, and a number of other factors that can affect the consumption of heat energy).

In principle, there is nothing complicated in choosing a boiler, its power is calculated based on the area of the room, for example, a boiler with a capacity of 10kw., suits the room in 100 sq.m. The main thing is that the boiler should be a good, well-known company specializing in this equipment. And a wide range of spare parts were on sale for it (there is nothing eternal). You can put double boiler, and it will provide you not only with warmth in the house, but also hot water, but at the same time the gas consumption will increase (depending on what the consumption will be hot water). And if you have two or three storey house, then the boiler should take a little more power. So it will last much longer.

Specialists perform much accurate calculations, to calculate the thermal energy of heating radiators by power. Very important heating area calculation radiators, for their correct distribution.

When buying radiators, you will definitely need the simplest calculation of heating power. In order to do this, it is necessary to calculate the area of the room and its height, as well as the cost of thermal energy (power) per 1 m. Under standard conditions, for a typical room, approximately 41 W. power. And multiplying the volume of the room (room) by this indicator, we get the amount of heat that is necessary to provide the radiator when heating the room (room). For example, to heat one room with a total area 18 sq.m. and height 3m. you need a radiator, with an ordinal power at 2.5 kW.

Now you need to calculate the number of radiators for heating the room. We divide the power necessary for heating the room by the power of one section of the battery, then we can get the required number of radiator sections. If my memory serves me, then one section bimetal radiator heating, has a power of approximately 150 watts. Before buying a radiator battery, on the package, or in his passport, it is reported its thermal power. This is not a complex concept that refers to the heat (in quantitative terms) that the battery will release when cooled from the operating temperature of the heating, to a temperature of about 18-20 degrees Celsius.

Calculation of radiators and their number by specialists

Of course, the most The right way, is to apply for calculation to specialists. Their method is quite accurate and allows you to calculate the required number of radiator sections for each room in a residential building, and for any other room in a private house. Their method takes into account many parameters:

 • material, what the walls are made of and their thickness
 • window type, installed in every room of the house
 • area ratio walls and windows
 • climatic conditions in your area
 • is the room above your room heated
 • how many walls your room goes outside the house
 • square rooms and ceiling heights.

Piping system

The system itself consists of properly selected and laid pipes of heating mains, which connect your radiators and the boiler. There are two types of such systems for laying pipelines: one-pipe and two-pipe.

When a heating system is being designed, a two-pipe connection scheme involves the installation of two pipes on each of the batteries, the so-called "supply and return". According to one of them (supply), the coolant (water), in heater enters, along the other (return), having already cooled down, returns to the boiler. The use of such a wiring diagram makes it possible to achieve the same degree of heating coolant in all batteries at home. Two-pipe type wiring is divided into two main varieties:

 1. Connection of radiators in parallel-series (one closed ring).
 2. Using a collector, to which all radiators are connected with separate sleeves (pipes).

The second type of connection of radiators makes it possible regulate the temperature each battery. But she also has a tangible financial disadvantage, this is the need to install a large number of metal-plastic or other pipes for heating for supplying to radiators. One-pipe heating scheme from metal-plastic pipes it functions like this: the heated coolant (water) simply flows through the pipes from one radiator to another. Simply put, such a system is consistent, and this leads to a gradual coolant cooling along his path. This means that the last radiator in the chain will always be significantly colder than the first battery. The main advantage of a single-pipe heating heating system made of metal-plastic pipes is it's cheap her arrangement.

Also, very important is degree of thermal insulation your house. If you have taken all measures and insulated walls, ceilings, floors, put new good windows, and you have a modern, high-quality, Entrance door(doors). Then the heat loss of your heating system will be minimal and for the season, you will spend much less money than planned.

The most popular heating method country houses today is the use of gas boilers, you can see how they look in the photo. This is influenced by several factors, and above all - the cost of resources. House heating gas cylinders is economical and effective method.

Features of heating a house with gas cylinders

Propane or butane is used as a heat source (read also: ""). The gas is liquefied and driven into cylinders, which are then connected to the heating equipment through a reducer - a device for reducing pressure. In a gaseous state, it occupies a larger volume, in a liquid state, a smaller one. Therefore, it is possible to pump a considerable amount of the resource into the cylinders.

The gas leaving the cylinder through the reducer, as a result of a rapid decrease in pressure, returns to its natural state. It is then burned in a boiler, releasing a large amount of heat.

Advantages of heating on gas cylinders

Heating with bottled gas has many advantages:
 • environmentally friendly fuel is used;
 • autonomy;
 • fuel consumption;
 • pressure stability in pipes;
 • ease of operation and ease of management.
Heating with bottled gas of a private house also provides the possibility of heating hot water for domestic needs. This method of heating is highly efficient, since the gas quickly changes from liquid form to its normal state. Despite this, gas cylinders are used only if it is not possible to connect the boiler to the main gas pipeline. Thus, this heating method is completely autonomous - the cylinder can be brought anywhere.

Gas heating boilers from a gas cylinder allow not only to heat rooms, but also to heat water for domestic purposes (this requires a heat exchanger).

Organize gas heating from cylinders it is possible not only in a new house, but also in the one in which they have been living for a long time - for this you will not have to carry out any work. But in order to connect to the main gas pipeline, it is necessary to lay pipes and carry out repairs in the house.

It is also possible to switch to heating a house with gas cylinders if it has become unprofitable or inconvenient to use other resources.

Disadvantages of gas heating on cylinders

Like any other heating method, this one also has its drawbacks:
 • if the cylinder is outside, in case of severe frost, the system may turn off - the condensate will freeze and prevent the gas from escaping;
 • do not place cylinders in unventilated areas;
 • since the gas is heavier than air, if it leaks, it can go down (into the basement, underground), and if there is a strong concentration, serious consequences will occur.
Thus, heating with gas cylinders, if certain conditions are not met, can be very dangerous. Therefore, they should be stored only in ventilated rooms, under which there is no basement. It is even advisable to place them in a separate extension on the site. The room must be warm so that the system does not turn off in frost. If it is cool in the annex, then you will have to make an insulated metal or plastic box for the cylinders. For insulation, the walls are sheathed with foam plastic 5 centimeters thick. Ventilation holes must be made in the lid of the box.

Organization of heating from gas cylinders

To make gas heating on cylinders, you need to choose a suitable boiler, since not every equipment is able to use liquefied gas as a heat source. This requires a special burner designed to operate from a cylinder. It is recommended to choose a device with a capacity of 10-20 kW, depending on the area of heated premises.

The gas boiler is connected to the cylinder using a special reducer. The flow rate is approximately 1.8-2 m³ per hour, in the case of a conventional gearbox 0.8 m³/h.

You can also use a burner designed to operate from the main pipeline, but in this case it is necessary to adjust the valve for proportional gas supply, since the pressure in the line is lower. In addition, in such devices, the opening in the valve is larger.

Each burner, designed for heating with gas from cylinders, is regulated in its own way. Detailed description can be found in the instructions for this equipment. In order to save money, old boilers can also be used, but in them it is necessary to replace the jet with another product that has a smaller hole.

When buying a burner, keep in mind that some stores try to sell more than expensive devices, arguing that the selected product will not work on liquefied gas. In this case, you need to look at the instructions for the selected device.

Heating from gas cylinders is cheaper if they are refueled. However, it should be borne in mind that at some GZS they seek to save money and fill only half of them. At the same time, the station employees say that the gas boils at only 40 degrees, so fill full balloon unreasonable - it can break. At the same time, purchased products are almost completely filled with gas. Therefore, such proposals should not be accepted.

Heating the house with bottled gas is quite economical. One cylinder with a capacity of 50 liters is enough to ensure the normal operation of the heating system with a capacity of 10-20 kW. Recommended to buy automatic devices- they do not work all day, but about a third of the day, starting gas heating of a private house with cylinders only when the temperature drops below the specified one. The functioning of conventional systems has to be regulated independently. Thus, if you specify the required room temperature at 20 degrees, the boiler will consume approximately 5 m³.

Regardless of whether there is automation or not, in order to save money, it is advisable to turn off the boiler at night.

Reasons for choosing gas heating from cylinders

Heating with gas cylinders is quite common, mainly because gas is relatively inexpensive (especially compared to electricity), and a significant amount of heat is generated with low fuel consumption (read also: ""). In addition, the connection of such a heating system can be performed at any time, including after using another type of boiler.
If you use first, for example, wood-burning equipment, then you can always buy and install a gas boiler on bottled gas. But in order to connect to the gas main, you will have to do some work, including those related to the house.

Even though cheaper heat sources exist, gas is still the most common fuel. This is also affected by the fact that a gas boiler from a cylinder can work in any area and building, so this heating method is indispensable if there is no access to other sources of energy.

An example of heating a house with gas cylinders in the video:

One of the best options for heating residential buildings, in the absence of the possibility of using main gas heating, is bottled gas heating, the nuances and subtleties of which we will discuss in this article.

You will find out what advantages and disadvantages gas-balloon heating has, whether it is safe to use it and how to install and connect such a system with your own hands.

Initially, we note that there are no prohibitions on heating a house with gas cylinders. However, when deciding on the implementation of such a method, it should be borne in mind that it will hit you hard enough in your pocket. For comparison, consider the cost of obtaining one kW of thermal energy using different heating methods:

 • natural gas boiler - 33 kopecks / kWh:
 • electric boiler with a heat accumulator - 0.9-1.3 rubles / kWh;
 • pellet boiler - 1.2-1.3 rubles / kWh;
 • liquefied gas boiler - 2.2-2.3 rubles / kW * h.

Even though heating costs may vary depending on different regions, which depends not only on the price and availability of fuel, but also on climatic conditions, the comparison shows that heating a house with liquefied gas is the most costly option.

In fact, it makes sense to use this heating method under the following conditions:

 • a small area of a heated building - up to 100 m 2;
 • the presence of effective thermal insulation of the house, the minimum level of heat loss.

Also, gas-balloon heating can be considered as a temporary measure, since in the future you will be able to convert the boiler to main gas.

1.1 What cylinders are needed for heating?

For arranging a heating system on liquefied gas the best option are cylinders with a volume of 50 liters. Such cylinders are filled with a mixture of propane from butane, which turns into a liquid state at high pressure. It is also possible to use the following fuel combinations:

 • SPBTL (technical mixture of propane and butane summer);
 • SPBTZ (technical mixture of propane and butane for winter).

Cylinders must be especially carefully monitored in winter. Even in conditions of sub-zero temperatures, the gas in the cylinders will not freeze, but a situation of stopping the supply of fuel is possible. This is explained by the different boiling points of propane (-40) and butane (0 degrees).

As a result, at a conditional temperature of -10, a mixture of two gases boils in a cylinder, while propane is the first to evaporate. After the turn comes to butane, there is a significant decrease in its volatility, leading to a pressure drop below what is necessary for the operation of the level boiler, since the temperature of the cylinder does not correspond to the boiling point of the gas.

The only way out of this situation is to heat the cylinder to the evaporation temperature of butane (0 0 С). To do this, it is easiest to bring a sleeve in the form of a corrugated pipe into the box with cylinders from the room in which the heat exchanger is located, and complete the channel with a fan for forced supply of warm air. The option of heating with a cylinder with pipes with thermal water according to the principle of a warm floor is also viable.

1.2 Advantages and disadvantages of the method

As already mentioned, the key disadvantage of balloon heating is its financial cost. At the same time, do not forget that you will not only have to pay for gas, but also spend money and time on refueling cylinders, which will be needed at least once a week.

However, there is this method and its advantages, consider the main ones:

 • greater efficiency and lower labor intensity of implementation in comparison with wood heating;
 • the possibility in the future to convert the heat exchanger (boiler) to ordinary main gas;
 • full autonomy of the system;
 • the durability of the equipment used and its demand in the secondary market - if necessary, you can easily sell the heat exchanger and cylinders, reimbursing most of the costs.

In general, it is simply not profitable to consider gas-balloon heating as the only way to heat housing in the long run. It is best to use it as a temporary measure with the subsequent re-equipment of the cat on the main gas.

1.3 Heating the house with liquefied bottled gas (video)

2 How to connect the gas cylinder to the boiler and put the system into operation?

To equip a liquefied gas heating system, you will need to purchase the following set of equipment:

 • 3-4 cylinders with a volume of 50 l;
 • gas boiler, if one is already available, then you will need to buy special nozzles for liquefied gas;
 • reducer and valves for cylinders.

Installation of gas cylinders should not be carried out in the basement and basement, it is best to place them outside in a metal box with ventilation holes in the upper and lower parts. The tanks themselves must be placed in a horizontal position, vertical storage of filled cylinders is prohibited. The box must be installed on the north side of the house, in the most shaded area.

In order for the heat exchanger to work normally, it must be connected to a bundle of 4-5 working cylinders. Their installation and connection must be carried out taking into account the following rules:

 1. For the supply gas pipeline is used metal pipe with a wall thickness of 2 mm. In the place of its passage through the wall, the pipe is passed through a protective sleeve, exceeding its diameter by 2-3 cm. The cavity between the walls of the sleeve and the pipe is filled with mounting foam.
 2. The boiler can be connected to the gas pipeline using special flexible wiring, the reducer to the gas pipeline - using a rubber-fabric sleeve.
 3. All plug connections must be checked for gas leakage by soaping.
 4. Heating elements and heating cables must not be used to heat cylinders.

During the operation of the system, never fill the cylinder more than 80% of its volume - this is one of the key safety rules. The reason for the ban is the high expansion coefficient of the propane-butane mixture, which is 7%. No matter how strong the cylinder may be, if it is filled to 94% at sub-zero temperatures and entered into warm room- it will simply break.

Keep in mind that a mixture of propane and butane is denser and heavier than air - if gas leaks, you may not feel its presence in the room, as it settles on the floor. That is why the box with containers should be ventilated and placed on the street.

2.1 Gas consumption

According to average statistics, the consumption of liquefied gas for heating a house is 15 liters per day for an area of 100 m 2. This value can vary greatly depending on the level of thermal insulation of a particular building and the ambient temperature.

A 50-liter cylinder holds 35-40 liters of gas, in terms of weight - 22 kg. So, to heat a building with an area of 70 m 2 for a week, about 2-3 cylinders will be required at an air temperature of -5 0, when it drops to -20 0, the consumption will increase to 5-6 cylinders per week.

In suburban villages, it is not always possible to connect to the heat supply line. In order not to freeze, it is not necessary to build a wood-burning stove or buy a boiler, heating from a gas cylinder is a good alternative to all others heating systems. Consider what the technology is, the features of connecting and using natural fuel.

This is a system that uses liquefied propane gas or a mixture of propane and butane as a coolant. Gas cylinder heating is used in a private house in the absence of a main gas pipeline, other centralized structures. Experts note that the method is suitable for houses with an area of 70-100 m2, which are pre-insulated to reduce fuel consumption.

On a note! To save on the purchase of fuel, it is recommended to install a gas boiler paired with electrical appliances.

You should know that it is absolutely impossible to disassemble gas cylinders. The fuel is pumped into the tank under high pressure, passing from a gaseous state to a liquid one. Liquefied hydrocarbon gas is called LPG.

Advantages and disadvantages of balloon heating

The advantages of the system include:

 • the purity of the fuel, the gas burns completely, leaving no ash, slag;
 • autonomy of the system - no connection to electricity is required;
 • work stability;
 • ease of operation, management;
 • relatively low fuel costs;
 • high efficiency;
 • the ability to convert the boiler to work with the main fuel supply;
 • long service life.

Such gas cylinders are highly valued in the secondary market and they can always be sold, returning part of the money spent. The system also allows you to supply Vacation home hot water, that is, the heating method is suitable for houses where central communications are not connected at all.

The disadvantages include the need to refuel tanks with fuel and the need to create certain conditions for the operation of the entire structure. It is worth carefully studying the connection diagram so that in frost you will not be left without heat due to system failures.

Scheme of connecting gas cylinders to a heating boiler

Accession to the system is carried out by means of a special gearbox. The device converts the fuel from a liquid state to a gaseous state for supply to the boiler. In the presence of 2 or more containers, several reducers are used, each of which is connected to one cylinder. This method is considered safer than connecting through a single generic reducer.

Advice! If you connect several cylinders to the boiler at once, you can increase the time between tank refills.

The design is formed using a ramp - a two-arm collector that distributes the tanks into two groups, the main and the backup. First, gas is taken into the boiler from the main group of cylinders, then from the reserve. Switching is automatic, the owner hears only a warning signal from the devices. As soon as the cylinders of the main group are filled and reconnected, the ramp switches back to taking fuel from the cylinders of the main group.

Attention should be paid to the installation of fuel containers - no closer than 2 m from the boiler, preferably in a separate non-residential compartment, room. You can not put the container on open space exposed to sunlight.

Advice! For the gas pipeline to be reliable, the pipe walls must be made of metal with a thickness of 2 mm or more. At the points of passage through the walls, the pipes are protected by a case, the holes are foamed. The connection of the pipeline to the boiler is carried out with a durite hose.

Accessories for balloon heating systems

To equip gas heating from bottled gas, the master will need:

 • gas boiler with burner;
 • cylinders (capacity 50 l);
 • reducers;
 • ramp;
 • stop valves;
 • durite hose for connection (rubber-fabric sleeve).

The whole scheme is extremely simple for installation, therefore it is available for execution. home master. It should be remembered that when choosing a boiler, it is better to give preference to a minimum operating pressure indicator, but the highest possible efficiency.

On a note! Manufacturers offer boiler models adapted to work with cylinders. If in the near future the summing up of the highway is not expected, it is easier to choose just such equipment.

When choosing a unit for heating on liquefied gas, it is important to pay attention to the burner, it must be for propane. Natural fuel burners are designed for lower system pressure and have an enlarged nozzle diameter, which can lead to an accident when fuel is supplied from a cylinder.

When buying a conventional gas boiler, the master will have to purchase nozzles for the burner, a gas valve - these parts are only in devices designed to work with LPG.

Calculation of gas consumption

To achieve comfortable heat in the house, fuel consumption must be at least 1 kW per 10 m2. Consider how much fuel is needed for a house of 100 m2. The boiler must have a capacity of at least 10 kW; to obtain 1 kW of heat, the equipment consumes up to 0.12 kg / hour of fuel. Thus, the consumption per hour for the entire area is 1.2 kg, which is equal to 28.8 kg per day.

The approximate volume of a 50-liter cylinder is 22 kg, it turns out that propane heating will cost the owner of the house 9 cylinders per week. It is expensive. But there is an amendment: the enhanced mode is required only when the system is heated, then a properly adjusted boiler will require no more than 8 kg of gas per day, that is, the flow rate is reduced by 3-4 times.

To maintain comfortable heat in a house of 100 m2, which is well insulated, the entire system is adjusted and equipped with automatic switches, 3 bottles of gas per week are enough. At the same time, a temperature of +22 C will be maintained in the premises inside the building, provided that it is up to -20 C outside.

Important! If you automatically configure the system so that at night the temperature in the house is maintained no higher than +18 C, that is, it decreases by 4-6 degrees (or more) relative to the daytime, you can reduce fuel consumption by up to 30% per week, and this is only 2 balloons.

Automatic adjustment allows you to reduce temperature regime during the absence of people in the room. For example, in the country in winter, a thermometer reading of +5 C is enough to keep the heating system in working condition. In this case, one bottle is enough for 7-10 days.

Safety precautions when working with gas cylinders

Propane heating requires stringent security measures. In addition to the fact that cylinders should not be placed closer than 2 meters from the boiler, direct rays and overheating should not be allowed to enter. Still unacceptable:

 1. In case of freezing, use an open fire to warm up the cylinders. In general, fire and gas containers are an explosive combination, so if an accidental fire occurs, the container with fuel should be removed first.
 2. When arranging a room for cylinders, care must be taken that there is no cellar or basement next to the room. The gas is odorless, but has physical property go down. Thus, a person who descended into the cellar may be poisoned. Also, with an imperceptible gas leak, large accumulations of fuel in the cellar will lead to an explosion.
 3. To minimize the risk of fire, a gas leak meter should be installed in the system.
 4. It is strictly forbidden to store empty cylinders in the house. A warehouse with full capacities should be located no closer than 10 meters from a residential building.

Important! Preventive work and inspection of the system, the integrity of the cylinders should be carried out at least once every 4 years.

Features of the operation of cylinders in the winter

Using liquefied gas for home heating is a good option for country mansions. The safety requirements are reasonable, the system can be equipped independently, but it is important to take care of keeping the fuel in working condition in the winter.

When the cylinders are located outside the building, at negative temperatures, the pressure decreases, and the boiler may stop working. In order not to be left without heat, for the winter fuel containers should be placed in a cabinet with an equipped ventilation system, protection from non-combustible insulation. In extreme cases, an extension without heating is suitable, where the cylinders are placed.

One of the most popular topics of discussion at various construction forums is heating in a private house with gas cylinders. As a result, there are several important issues associated with the operation self-installation and maintenance, as well as security measures.

Is it possible to heat the house with a gas bottle

Individual gas heating of a private house with cylinders is a good alternative, in the absence of the possibility of connecting to a central highway. The cost of heating from gas is much lower than those that have to be paid for heating with electricity, solid fuel and diesel fuel.

The heat output of the system is enough to warm the house, heat enough water. It is possible to make autonomous gas-balloon heating country house or giving bottled gas in a simple way.

Cylinders with liquefied gas Propane-Butane

Fundamentally, this scheme is no different from the operation of a gas tank. The propane-butane mixture has a high evaporation rate. The gas evaporating from the surface is suitable for the operation of hot water equipment. For efficient operation, it is necessary to connect gas cylinders to each other in a single fuel supply network to the boiler.

Depending on the season, a summer and winter gas mixture is used. In the first, the ratio of propane and butane is approximately 50 to 50%, the second is 85 to 15%. V winter time gas with a high butane ratio freezes, causing the system to shut down.

Cylinders are filled under high pressure, resulting in the transformation of the gas into a liquid state. To ensure the reverse process and obtain a gaseous mixture, it is necessary to lower the pressure back. Continuity of gas supply is provided by a special reducer.

The node lowers and stabilizes the pressure. Only a hot water boiler can operate on liquefied gas, with a minimum operating pressure of 3-4 mbar. For convenience, autonomous gas heating of the house operates from a bundle of several cylinders connected to a ramp, which automatically switches the flow rate from the main to the backup fuel source.

The disadvantage of using tanks with liquefied propane gas is the impossibility of heating the entire building. The systems are mainly used for heating tourist tents, country houses, construction cabins etc.

Do I need a permit for heating from gas cylinders

Gas heating systems from cylinders do not need official registration and registration with the gas service or the fire inspectorate. But, the legislation stipulates the norms and requirements necessary for safe operation, presented both for the very connection and placement of gas-cylinder installations, and for the room used as a boiler room and LPG storage.

The legality of the use of gas cylinders for heating is stipulated in the Federal Law. Subject to the requirements of fire supervision, autonomous gasification of a private house through gas-balloon installations does not require registration. In practice, this means that the only possible claims may be from the fire inspector. At the next check, he can pay attention to errors, and in case of gross violations, he can seal the installation.

According to it, it is forbidden to install more than one fuel cylinder in the room. The heating system based on several individual cylinder installations must be removed from the residential building.

How to calculate how many bottles of gas you need per month

On average, a cylinder is enough for 3-4 days of work, subject to heating of 100 m². It turns out that for continuous operation of the boiler during the week, it is necessary to empty two containers of 50 liters each. each. Further calculation of gas consumption for heating when using bottled gas is carried out in the following way:
 1. With the help of two 50l. cylinders can heat a house of 100 m² for a week.
 2. For a month, respectively, about 10 cylinders are needed.

In order to accurately calculate heating using cylinders, it will be necessary to determine the possible heat losses, as well as the additional number of parsing points that will be used in addition to the heating boiler. The approximate consumption of liters of bottled gas per month will be about 500 liters.

The exact number of cylinders required to maintain a comfortable temperature is calculated only after the thermal engineering examination of the building.

 • The installation of portable cylinders is carried out strictly according to SNIP. Installation of the gas pipeline and connection to gas consumption points is carried out along the outer walls of the room.
 • The room used as a boiler room must have natural and forced ventilation.
 • The technical conditions for the installation and connection of Propane-Butane bottled gas for home heating allow installation in residential premises of 1 LPG tank. A system of several cylinders is installed exclusively on the street.
 • The warehouse for tanks should not have pits and basements.
 • Do not expose the tank to direct sunlight. The cylinder storage cabinet must be waterproof.

The use of liquefied gas in household cylinders for individual heating of residential buildings is permitted by SNiP and PB, but it is best to entrust the installation of the system to professionals. Practice shows that with self-connection it is quite difficult to take into account all existing requirements and ensure safe operation.
