The device of a dropper and a cornice strip for a metal tile. How are metal tile drippers installed? Characteristics of a dropper for a metal tile

The main purpose of the roof is to protect the house and its walls from moisture. Surely you know that a lot in this regard depends on the shape of the roof and roofing.

It would seem that everything is simple: the steeper the roof and the tighter, the more likely it is that rain and melting snow will only be on the ground. But the water has some physical properties, which do not allow her to leave the roofing so easily. The first of which is to bend around the material and stay in the form of drops on a horizontal surface below. Even if the coating is very smooth! And from there, moisture enters the wooden rafters, which threatens with various problems.

And a particularly problematic place in this regard is the overhang of the roof. And one of the most important additional elements that solve this problem is drips for the roof of the most different forms and types. Want to know more?

A dropper is also often called a cornice bar and an overhang apron, which, in fact, are them.

Let's look at how these elements differ from each other:

The purpose of the cornice strip is to protect the lower crate from moisture and to direct water into the gutter, which also flows from the waterproofing material. Usually it is selected depending on the type drainage system and design ideas.

Such a plank also differs in configuration: either it comes in a standard form, or it is initially made under the eaves overhang assembly.

Types of drippers and materials of manufacture

Droppers for a modern roof today are made of thin metal on factory machines. Yes, for shingles use polymeric sheet material from 0.35 to 0.5 mm thick. As a coating, matte polyester with PEMA marking or plain polyester with PE marking is chosen. The color of the dropper is selected according to the RR or Ral catalog.

The dropper is suitable for all types of roofing materials, it is produced in a standard length of 2-3 meters and a thickness of 0.55 to 0.7 mm. In addition, when arranging a cornice overhang, sometimes two strips are even laid at once, one of which drains water from the roofing, and the second from the waterproofing. But with both of these tasks, the overhang apron also does an excellent job. This is about roll material copper, titanium-zinc 0.2 mm thick or painted aluminium, 0.3 mm thick.

The apron differs from the cornice strip in greater plasticity and fold lines, thanks to which it is easy to arrange any gutter corner. Moreover, modern aprons are also available with a special strip, on which a waterproofing film is then glued.

But the cornice strip quite often plays the role of a drip for many types of roofs. Although the arrangement of metal has its own characteristics, and professional builders advise making such a cake:

Let's take a closer look at how a dripper is equipped for different roofs.

Dropper for metal tiles

The installation of a dropper on the roof itself begins with the installation of a cornice board. It is mounted with a gash in rafter leg. The width of this board provides reliable support for the dropper, so the following sections are considered possible: 150x30 mm or 100x25 / 30 mm.

If you are building a metal roof, then in this case the membrane should be brought to the surface of the drip, and direct the flows directly to it, and from there to the drainage system.

So the entire roof structure is as tight as possible:

The dropper itself, which is installed under the membrane, must be fixed with corrosion-resistant nails with a 9 mm head, in increments of 20 cm, and an overlap of at least 5 cm.

There is also such a subspecies of an apron as a plastic overhang with ventilation ducts, but these are rare on the Russian market.

Drip for soft roof

And now let's look at the process of installing a dropper on soft roof, and animated images will help us with this:

Fasten upper part dropper on the starting crate with galvanized nails 35 mm long. Alternate them along the top and bottom edges in 30 cm increments.

By the way, it can be quite difficult to immediately hammer in a nail, because the board often “plays”. therefore, with a sharp hammer, you can pierce small dents, and hammer nails into them:

It is important to fasten the drip to the ends so tightly that they do not rattle in strong winds.

Here's more detailed instructions in photos:

Drip for corrugated board

A metal drip for mounting a corrugated roof in general is a godsend. It is especially convenient to lay sealants on it, which help to make such a roof perfectly airtight. How it works?

The sealant made of foamed polyethylene foam, which is always made individually and repeats the shape of the profiled sheet with an accuracy of a micromillimeter, completely closes the internal overhang from moisture, but at the same time leaves the possibility of ventilation, which is invaluable for metal roof. Moreover, the installation process itself is quite simple.

So, first of all, install the drip itself:

Now we lay the sealing tape and remove the protective paper from it:

We mount the sealant, put the same sealing tape on it. We press the seal well to the roof, remove the protection and lay the sheets of corrugated board:

Dropper for seam roof

Under the seam roof, the same type of drip is usually made and mounted as for a conventional metal roof.

But modern manufacturers delight with creativity, thanks to which there are already special sheets on sale, at the end of which a drip is already arranged:

Agree, this approach greatly facilitates the entire installation and helps to make the roof overhang much more reliable and airtight.

Today, the construction market is full of roofing materials, among which metal tiles are in high demand. In order for such a coating to last for decades, the joints and ends of the roof are protected with metal parts, which are commonly called extensions. Among the main additional elements is a drip bar. Its role is to prevent moisture and condensation from entering the roof space and giving the roof a finished look.

What is a drip for a metal tile

The waterproofing membrane of the roof must be brought to the top shelf of the drip cornice strip

In the broad sense of the word, a drip is a drainage profile. It is used not only for roofing, but also for the installation of window and door openings.

In progress self erection When it comes to roofing, the question often arises: do you really need a drip for a metal tile? As experience shows, when a cornice strip and an additional drip of condensate are present on a metal-tiled roof, the structure is better protected from external negative factors and lasts much longer.

Photo gallery: installation of an eaves overhang on metal roofs

If the dropper consists of several parts, then they are overlapped Droppers are always installed before the installation of the main roofing To create a single ensemble, the color of the dropper is selected to match the metal tile Before installing the drip, drain brackets are fixed to the crate

Functions of a dropper on a roof made of metal

Novice builders disdain the purchase and installation of droppers on metal tiles, considering this kind of extensions a marketing move by sellers. However, this "trifle", which is only a couple of percent of the total roof area, reliably protects the gable and cornice overhangs from water flowing into them.

The principle of operation of overhang aprons is based on the following scheme:

Atmospheric precipitation accumulates on the roof surface and, due to the slope of the slopes, is diverted down to the drip.

The additional level takes moisture, preventing it from penetrating under the roof, and diverts the flow into the gutter of the drainage system.

The overhang apron strip protects the frontal board and the area of the first lath of the crate from moisture ingress

Droppers on a metal tile perform several functions:

  1. Waterproofing. In the rainy months of the year, the additional element removes moisture from the walls and lathing, protecting the facade from mold, moss and fungus. Its installation prevents the erosion of mortars and masonry mixtures. In winter, the apron protects the inside of the roof from ice.
  2. Wind protection. Installing a drip bar reduces the effect of wind load on the roof - a strong gust does not penetrate under the metal tile, trying to rip off and carry away the coating.
  3. Noise barrier. Like any additional element of the roof, the drip reflects sound waves.
  4. Aesthetics. The apron of the overhang closes the unsightly end of the roof, improves the appearance of the building and gives it a holistic look. The roof acquires clearly defined boundaries and pronounced contours.

It is worth noting that droppers are needed not only for metal tiling, but also for roofing made of corrugated board, steel or soft materials. It's not worth saving on them. A common mistake of owners of private houses is the removal of a waterproofing film into the gutter without the use of a metal strip. In this case, the sun's rays and wind quickly destroy the film, nullifying all efforts.

The average life of a metal roof is 25-30 years. You can surpass these figures by installing droppers. They will help reduce the frequency of repairs and extend the life of the roof.

What are the droppers

Starting the construction of the roof, you need to carefully approach the acquisition of additional elements for it. From them right choice depends on the quality of the roof and the cost of construction. It is better to spend a couple of days studying the features of various add-ons than to throw away unsuitable material or a large number of scraps. Builders are advised to choose droppers based on three main criteria: installation location, size and color.

Classification of overhang aprons at the installation site

Depending on the location of the droppers are divided into cornice and gable. Each species differs in shape and size:

Dropper dimensions for metal tiles

When measuring the roof (slope and dimensions of the overhangs) before making a purchase, it should be borne in mind that the droppers are overlapped. Therefore, the number of slats must be bought with a small margin.

There are no uniform sizes of overhang aprons. But you can select those parameters that are most common:

The dimensions of the droppers are determined by the technology of their manufacture. Many suppliers offer non-standard size parts. The price of such a product is usually higher, but there is no need to customize and trim the elements.

Manufacturing technology of overhang aprons for metal tiles

The technology for the production of droppers includes cutting sheet metal into blanks and subsequent bending on a sheet bending machine. Therefore, the length of the extension is affected by the initial width of the sheet and the capabilities of the bending equipment. Modern machines have a fairly large range of maximum workpiece lengths - from 1.2 to 4 m.

The bending machine allows you to make not only cornice aprons, but also all other additional elements for a metal roof (skates, valleys, end strips)

In order to make a dropper, a strip pre-cut to size is installed on the bending table. To exclude longitudinal and transverse movements, the workpiece is fixed with clamps. When the swivel beam is raised, the bar bends. To control the bending angle, the equipment is equipped with a goniometer.

Drip device for metal tiles

For the manufacture of an additional element, the same material is used as for the metal tile itself. Droppers are made from high quality steel sheet coated with a layer of zinc. Galvanizing is carried out by galvanizing - immersion in baths with the appropriate solution. Optimum layer density (zinc content per unit area) - 275 g/m 2 . A special passivating composition is applied over the first microlayer, which prevents the accumulation of static charges. The prefinishing layer of a metal sheet is a primer. It provides good adhesion of the substrate to the final layer - a colored polymer coating.

Additional elements for metal tiles have a multilayer structure, in which each layer performs a specific task

As a coating, paint or a polymer composition is applied to the steel base of the dropper. In the first case, products are cheaper, but have less ability to resist corrosion.

Polymer-coated droppers have proven themselves well. It can be made on the basis of glossy (designated PE) or matte (PEMA) polyester, plastisol (PVC-200) or pural (PURAL). The characteristics of these compounds, and hence the durability of the extensions, are different.

The color of the dropper is selected to match the metal tile and other extensions.

To unify shades, manufacturers have created special color scales (for example, the German RAL palette), where each color has its own digital designation.

Each color of the coating of metal additional elements is standardized and marked with its own code in the global RAL catalog

Installing a dropper for metal tiles

Installation of overhang aprons is carried out on final stage erection of a roof before laying a metal tile. Since the cost of these additional elements starts from 100 rubles, and third-party contractors will have to pay a separate amount for installation, it is more profitable to install them yourself, especially since the work itself does not require professional knowledge and special skills. This is a simple operation that even a novice builder can handle.

Installing droppers on a metal tile has some nuances associated with the peculiarities of the plank itself and the roofing material. Consider the following factors:

  1. A properly mounted strip should not interfere with natural air exchange and air circulation in the under-roof space. Otherwise, the rafter system rots and the insulation is destroyed.
  2. Aprons are installed without distortions, strictly along the edge of the roof.
  3. If a film protecting the product during transportation and storage is pasted on the surface of the plank, it must be removed prior to installation.
  4. Increasing the length of the dropper, be sure to overlap.
  5. Gable drippers are mounted from the eaves to the top of the roof.

Necessary tool for installation work

In order for the installation to take place as soon as possible, it is necessary to prepare the necessary set of tools and auxiliary equipment in advance. This set includes several mandatory items:

  1. Plank cutting tool. To cut off excess parts of the extension, you should use hand shears for metal; the use of angle grinders is prohibited. This is because the surfaces of the plates are protected from precipitation and UV rays by coatings that are damaged during abrasive or thermal cutting. Ideally, the end of the cut off extension should be coated with protective anti-corrosion compounds.

Scissors allow you to perform accurate cutting of metal, fully maintaining the quality of the coating in the place of the cut

  2. Tape measure 3 m long and a permanent marker for marking cut lines or plank fixation points.

It is most convenient to make all the necessary measurements with a construction tape

  3. Screwdriver with nozzles for a specific diameter of fasteners. For installation, it is necessary to use roofing hexagonal screws with a rubber washer-seal. Then moisture is guaranteed not to flow under the bar. Self-tapping screws must be screwed strictly vertically, without overtightening, but also without weakening the junction beyond necessity.

The color of the screws must be matched to the color of the additional element

The sequence of actions when installing a drip

The correct sequence of actions when installing a dropper on a metal tile will significantly save time. Consider the process of building a roof, when a cornice strip is used as an apron for an overhang.

Support brackets for the gutter are installed on the frontal board or the lower beam of the crate. Fastening is done with screws or nails. The step between the brackets should not exceed 60 cm.

Depending on the design, the brackets for gutters can be attached to the frontal board or to the first laths of the batten.

  1. Gutters are laid on the brackets. They are connected with an overlap of 2–3 cm, and a special gutter connector is installed in place of the overlap.

The gutter connector usually has rubber pad, which provides a sealed joint and compensates for the thermal expansion of the metal

  2. The first dropper bar is mounted (on the right or left side of the slope, based on personal preferences) on the lower eaves board of the crate. Pruning is not required. After laying, the first extension is fixed with nails or self-tapping screws in increments of 25–30 cm. Fasteners can be made both in one line and in a checkerboard pattern. If the cornice has a kink (a roof of complex shape), then the metal element is cut and bent according to the contour of the slope. The dropper should go into the gutter by a third of the length of the lower shelf.

The dropper is attached to the cornice board with nails or roofing screws.

  3. Subsequent planks are attached to the first, with an overlap of 5 cm . The fixation of two adjacent elements is carried out with one self-tapping screw, which must simultaneously hold the end of the previous and the beginning of the next part. Sealant can be applied to the junction of the planks. This is an additional measure aimed at preventing the penetration of moisture into the under-roof space through the gap in the overlap of the planks. After installing the dropper along the entire length of the slope, a visual inspection is carried out for the presence of gaps at the junctions.

The joints of the additional strips can be additionally treated with a sealant

    3. A double-sided self-adhesive tape of the "SP-1" type is glued onto the top shelf of the apron. The edge of the waterproofing film is brought to it. Waterproofing should not sag, otherwise depressions will form for the accumulation of condensate.

The tape made on the basis of butyl rubber has a good vapor barrier and securely holds waterproofing film on a drip

After completing all the above measures, the installation of the dropper is considered completed. Next, the metal tile is laid according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

Every year, all dobors, including the dropper, are inspected for mechanical damage or debris. If scratches appear, you can restore the coating with spray paint.

When installing a dropper, follow the safety requirements. Wear gloves to avoid injury from sharp edges. The presence of safety ropes is mandatory. It is best to install the drip in calm weather.

Video: installing a drip strip under a metal tile

A dropper is just one of the many additions to a metal roof. The element is produced in the form of a bent metal profile with applied protective coatings. The purpose of the drip is to drain water into the gutter. If you neglect the installation of this part roof structure, then the accumulated condensate will enter the rafter system and lead to its decay. Remember that the average life of a metal roof is 25-30 years, and without a drip, this figure is reduced several times.

Roofing was created to protect houses from natural precipitation. But, any coating will not last long and efficiently, without additional elements. In parallel with the ridge strips, the most important role is played by the droppers for metal tiles, it is this detail that protects the pediment and cornice from water and extends the life of the roof.

In this article

Briefly about the dropper

V modern world, each construction material created to perform a specific task. These elements include a dropper for metal tiles. It is mounted under the roofing material at the very eaves. A cornice strip, another name for a dropper, is a narrow sheet of metal bent at an obtuse angle along its entire length.

Cornice strips are used not only for metal tiles, but also for other roofing materials.

This detail protects the walls and roof of the house from rain and snow, directing these precipitations into the gutters. In addition, the plank increases the stability of the attic covering from strong gusts of wind and prevents the rafter system made of wood from rotting. At the same time, the contour of the building becomes more clear and even, and all thanks to a small, but very multifunctional detail, a drip.

Important: When it comes to laying metal tiles, it is impossible to carry out this manipulation without this part. Since it is the dropper that protects the walls and roofs of houses from precipitation.

What types are there?

At the moment, there are two types of this element, which are intended for different places attachments, namely:

  • eaves plank;
  • front plate.

Cornice strip, designed for installation on the cornices of the building. It has two curves. The first is between the skirt and apron, separating them. And the second one is designed to increase the rigidity of the "own body".

If the design is done correctly, then it will be with gutters. Before installation, fastening hooks are put on this part. Then, together with them, the installation of a dropper is performed. This work is done even before laying the roofing. And the strips themselves must be overlapped by about 20 mm.

Gable strips are used when laying tiles. Such details are designed to protect the overhang of the gable from rain and snow. The dropper is fixed at the top of the lining carpet, in the place where it connects to the cornice strip.

Correct installation

Planks are fixed at the end of the construction of the roof, but before the laying of the roofing material. During installation, you need to consider one feature, This part is covered with a polymer layer on top, and if a grinder is used, it can burn out. Therefore, if there is a need to shorten a building element, it is better to do this with metal shears.

Initially, hooks are attached under the gutters of the drainage system. At this stage of work, the cornice part of the crate is fixed, in order to avoid its deformation, along with roofing from external precipitation. Then, they begin to lay the cornice strips so that they do not hang out.

When the planks are laid, they begin to fix them with self-tapping screws, in steps of 200 mm. As soon as the first plank is fixed, an overlap of 20 mm behind it, the next one is laid. fixed in the same way. And so that moisture does not get through the holes on the wooden crate, a rubber seal is laid under the caps of the screws. Thus, the accumulation of condensate is not threatened. If the stiffeners interfere with joining the elements, and this sometimes happens, they are simply cut off with metal scissors.

Each manufacturer applies a coating in the form of a film to the droppers. This is done in order to protect the parts from scratches during transportation. Before installation, the protective film is removed. And only then proceed to the installation.

When each element is fixed with self-cutting screws, the specialist makes a follow-up inspection to make sure that each part fits snugly. Almost all builders with experience use sheet rubber as a lining for a drip. This method ensures that moisture does not fall under the bar.

In this way, all the strips are attached under the metal tile, and only then, they begin to lay the roofing material.

Important: A dropper is installed on the pediment in this way. So that there is no interference with the ventilation of the under-roof space.

When mounting the cornice strips, do not use disc power tools. Because the protective coating can be damaged. Shortening the bar is done with hand tools.

Each cut point is processed with special paint, which is in the set. Do not beat the dropper with nails, you must use self-tapping screws. They are always included.

It is forbidden to exclude one of the types of slats from the general roof structure, since only both types can provide a long service life for the roof.

Installation of slats is carried out at a height. In this case, only reliable ladders should be used.

All work is done only in calm weather and with mounting belts.

Dropper dimensions

Before buying planks, you need to calculate the amount that will be required for the whole house. To do this, you need to have an idea about the length of this part. Any dropper has a standard size, which is from 1 to 2 meters. But there are also intermediate models, 1.5 meters long. And the price depends on the size of the dropper.

Conclusion

During construction, each stage is very important. But Special attention, you need to pay attention to all the small details. Thanks to such elements as a drip, it is possible to increase the insulating functions of the roof by an order of magnitude.

A dropper is an auxiliary part of a roof made of metal tiles and other sheet and soft materials. This detail seems insignificant, because of this, many neglect its purchase and installation. But it performs a number of functions aimed at preserving the appearance and integrity of the structure. It must be fixed at the stage of installation of the roofing.

This is an additional element, it is a bar bent at an obtuse angle, it is available in different sizes and shapes. It is installed on the overhang of the truss system and the pediment. The main purpose is to redirect precipitation and condensate into gutters.

Drip features:

  • Waterproofing. The plank protects the roof and wall frame from moisture, mold, fungus and decay, which is especially important for wooden structures. It removes the condensate formed between the hydro and vapor barrier and the tiles.
  • Protective. Closes the inside of the roof from blowing.
  • Soundproof. Due to the absorption of sound waves over the entire roof area and rubber sealing, the level of noise penetration from the street and during rain into the under-roof space is reduced.
  • Decorative. The cover is finished. All parts of the frame are hidden, the roof and drainage system are combined into a single structure.

The slats are made from galvanized steel sheet with a thickness of 0.35-0.5 mm, painted with a protective and decorative layer. The color and texture correspond to the assortment of metal tiles and corrugated board, so it is easy to pick them up. If you have a sheet bender, you can make it yourself according to individual sizes.

On an industrial scale, two types of droppers are produced:

  • Fronton. It has three folds that form: an apron - for attaching to the frame, a step and a skirt. Most often used in installation flexible roofing, is attached to the end parts of the truss system.
  • Cornice. With two fold lines dividing into three parts. One of them starts under the metal tile, the second serves to drain water, the third - for rigidity. It is installed along the edges of the roof slope.

Dropper length - 2 meters, working - 1.8 meters. The latter value should be used when calculating the required quantity, since they overlap. The width of the pediment strip in the straightened form is 125 mm, the cornice - 175 mm. To order, options are made in lengths from 1.25 to 4 meters, any width and with different amount folds.

Dropper installation

It is produced after the construction of rafters, lathing equipment, waterproofing, but before the laying of metal tiles. If the roof is warm, then it is attached after insulation and vapor barrier. To facilitate further work, it is worth hemming the overhang, placing brackets for the drainage system. Rain gutters should be fixed later, when the covering is laid.

The gable drip is installed after the installation of the tiles. On a roof made of rigid sheets, there is no special need for it. If the materials are soft, you can not do without it.

It is better to leave the edge of the insulation free in order to later bring it to the surface of the plank. Thanks to this, all the moisture accumulated under the roof will drain into the gutter.

Tools required:

  • Cutting knife (other devices, such as a grinder, are not suitable, as they damage the integrity of the protective coating).
  • Screwdriver.
  • Stairs.
  • Self-tapping screws for wood (other fasteners (nails) are also suitable, but working with them is more difficult, and chips on the paint are formed from hammer blows).

1. Preparation.

Installation begins with the measurement and preparation of fragments of the desired length, optimally - 2 meters. A larger product will become less rigid and may be damaged. New strips must be covered with a protective film, which ensures the integrity of the decorative layer during transportation. It must be removed before installation. For better protection against corrosion, the sections should be treated with a special paint. Before starting, you should also lay a rubber seal, if provided.

2. Installation.

The direction of installation does not really matter, start from any angle. The gable dripper is attached from the bottom up so that water does not get into the joints in the future.

Instruction:

  • Lay the first plank, align it with the outermost beam of the crate. It is easier to focus on the fold line.
  • Fasten with self-tapping screws or galvanized nails in increments of no more than 20-30 cm, it is better to screw or drive in a checkerboard pattern.
  • Install the second fragment with an overlap of at least 1-2 cm on the first and fix.

If there is a hydro- and vapor barrier in the cake, you need to bring its edge to the surface of the dropper and fix it. Next, you can start laying tiles. The gable bar is placed in the same way, but only after the completion of the roofing work.

Additional elements cover no more than 3-5% of the roof area, but perform important functions. Therefore, their specifications and the quality of installation play an important role.

When buying a dropper for a metal tile, it is necessary to evaluate its rigidity, steel thickness and properties of the protective coating. The most durable and durable are polymeric (pural, plastisol, polyester). They are not afraid of atmospheric and mechanical influences. It is better to buy tiles and additional elements at the same time and from the same manufacturer so that the design has a uniform color, luster and texture.

The thicker the steel sheet, the more resistant the product will be to mechanical damage.

Choosing the right material is half the success; for the best result, the drip must be fixed with high quality.

Tips from professional roofers:

  • It is desirable to fasten with self-tapping screws with press washers, they will not allow moisture to enter under the surface.
  • To achieve a high-quality connection between the planks, it is permissible to cut off the edge of the stiffeners.
  • The dropper must be installed so that there is a gap between it and the metal roof for air circulation.

Roofing was invented to protect housing from rain and snow. However, no coating can withstand the natural onslaught without additional elements. Along with ridge slats, no less important function is performed by drips, which protect the eaves from the accumulation of rainwater, which prolongs the life of the roofing.

Basic facts about the dripper

Any building material serves a specific purpose. Such material is also a dropper for a metal tile. It is embedded under the roofing material next to the eaves.

This element is also called a cornice strip, which, according to appearance resembles a metal sheet bent at an obtuse angle along its entire length.

The roofing strip performs the protective function of the walls and roof of the house from natural precipitation, directing them into the gutters. Also, this detail makes the attic flooring more stable, protecting it from strong winds, and also prevents the process of decay. wooden rafters. The structure of the building becomes smoother thanks to the drip, which, despite its small size, is a very multifunctional detail.

It is impossible to carry out the laying of metal tiles without this element, since it is this part that is the main protection of the walls and roofing of the house from rain and snow.

Types of eaves

There are two main types of cornice strips that perform different functions:

  • frontal- used to stiffen its own design;
  • cornice- used to separate the apron and skirt.

This kind of work is done before roofing starts. A technically correct design must be equipped with drains. To do this, special fasteners for installation are installed on the dropper.

During the laying of the roof, frontal strips are used. They are used to protect the facade from natural precipitation. They are attached to the lining carpet at the junction with the cornice strip.

Product installation technology

Cornice planks are fixed upon completion of the construction of the roof, but before the installation of the roofing. However, during installation, one should not forget about one important feature: the outer coating of the dropper is a polymer layer, and if the installation is done using a grinder, it can melt. Therefore, when shortening this element, metal shears should be used.

First of all, fasteners are installed on this part. Then, the cornice part of the lathing is installed so that it does not deform along with the roofing from rain and snow. Next, lay the cornice strips and fix.

After the planks are laid, they should fix with screws, the pitch of which should be 200 mm. After fixing the first plank, the next one is overlapped (20 mm). In order to avoid moisture ingress, sheet rubber is placed on the crate, under the caps of the screws. This will avoid the accumulation of condensate in the gap. If stiffening ribs interfere with the joining of elements, they can be cut with scissors for metal.

Regardless of the brand of the manufacturer, any dropper is covered with a film. This prevents parts from being damaged in transit. Experienced builders always use sheet rubber as a gasket. That protects the drip from moisture.

This method is suitable for fixing all types of these elements under the metal tile. And only after completing the above work, you can start laying the roofing.

The drip tray must be installed on the gable in such a way that it does not interfere with ventilation between the roof and the roof.

Installation Tips:

  1. When installing this part, do not use circular power tools. Since they damage its protective coating. The element is cut to a suitable size, only with the help of hand tools.
  2. The cut is covered with a special paint included in the kit. Do not nail the dropper with nails, use only the self-tapping screws that are also included.
  3. The roof must be provided with both types of parts, since only they contribute to the duration of its service.
  4. Planks are mounted at a height. Use only approved ladders. These types of work are carried out in calm weather.

Before you order planks, you should start counting their exact number needed for the whole house. To do this, you need to know the required length. Standard sizes droppers range from 1 to 2 m, however, there are also intermediate models, the length of which is 1.5 meters. Price its depends on the size.
