Film floor heating

A water heated floor should be placed on a substrate that provides both water absorption and heat conservation. Water heating

Water heating systems are always multi-layered. The base is made waterproofing, then there is thermal insulation (it does not allow heat to go down). Then pipes of small diameter are already installed, covered with a carrier layer - a concrete screed, occasionally with gypsum fiber. And only then comes the turn of the actual flooring. The type of overlap determines the thickness of the entire structure, varying from 5 to 15 centimeters.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantage of a water heated floor is its safety and stability of use, efficient operation in natural circulation mode even in the absence of current in the network. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the complexity of the installation, lowering the height of the room. If the pipe leaks, it will be quite difficult to fix the defect. Designers, however, take this circumstance into account, and pipes are now made from such reliable materials as polyethylene and metal-plastic. Additional protection with a cement-sand screed also reduces the risk of damage to a minimum.

The optimal installation scheme is a “snail”: its laboriousness, the need for careful adjustment is justified by completely uniform and uniform heating of the entire floor surface.

Electric heating

The essence of the device is already clear from its name - the cable element generates heat when current passes through it. The cable can be with two cores or with one. Consider, however, not only financial indicators, but all the parameters at once - how large the room is, whether the warm floor will be a key means of heating or only auxiliary.

Laying technology

It is necessary to mount an electric warm floor only after careful preparation of surfaces. The base of the floor is cleaned, if necessary, then leveled and insulated. The choice of materials for leveling and thermal insulation depends on your personal preferences. A thin screed is made on top, into which a reinforcing mesh is inserted, the screed must dry minimum 48 hours. After that, attach the mounting tape.

Everything, after that it remains only to lay the front cover. Even a screed, which is mandatory for electric and water heated floors, turns out to be redundant. But grounding, since we are still talking about a current-consuming device, is an absolutely necessary thing.

Pros and cons

If you install infrared film, you will not experience a decrease in the height of the room, and at the same time such a heater draws less current than the most efficient cables. But on the other hand, infrared film is quite expensive, it cannot be used anywhere where there is high humidity. And be sure to need a flat base, otherwise there is a risk of breaking the device.

It is unacceptable to put films under furniture, only on the free part of the floor. Please note that the "phase" is in the infrared film itself, and you need to install the most reliable devices protective shutdown.

How to mount?

If the film strip is 50 centimeters wide, its length cannot exceed 13 meters. With a width of 80 cm, the allowable length is reduced to 10 meters, and meter strips should be made no more than 7 meters in length. To cut and connect less, lay the strips along. Between them should be left at least a centimeter, and the gap to the walls should be at least 5 centimeters.

Direct the strips with the contacts in the direction where the thermostat will stand, and in no case overlap one thermal film with others! Since it is required to connect the wires in parallel, it is possible to collect them in one direction and mask them with a plinth. During installation, the film is glued to the substrate with adhesive tape, otherwise it can be torn.

One end of the contact clamp is inserted into the cavity that separates the films from the silver stripes, the other is fixed on a copper base and pressed with pliers. Sequentially moving, all contacts are processed in this way. Don't forget to isolate the connection points! The temperature sensor should be attached to the underside of the black strip, held in place by bituminous insulation. remember, that thermal strips should be at least 10-50 centimeters from any heating devices, depending on the heating power.

The outer surface on which the laminate will lie should be as even as possible. To meet this condition, the wires, sensor and clamps will have to be cut in the substrate. The wires are held with tape so that they do not budge. Please note that if the total power of the heating unit is 2 kW or more, it must be connected to the mains only through a separate residual current device!

Which is better to choose?

A warm floor of any kind can be successfully combined with a laminate. It is only necessary to select it as carefully as possible, otherwise, at the slightest violation of the temperature regime, the coating will be deformed. Or the result of the work will not satisfy you.

Putting an infrared warm floor is the easiest, but that's not the only reason you should choose it. Thanks to design features the rays will not penetrate inside the base, and you will not heat the concrete or other base in vain; this circumstance is especially important for balconies.

Electrical cable

The main element of an electric floor heating is a cable. Heating of the room occurs due to the fact that it converts electrical energy into heat. For electric underfloor heating, two-core and single-core cables are used. In the first variant, there are two cores: supply and heating. Necessary equipment

Before purchasing the required equipment, you should calculate the amount of reflective material and thermal film. The reflective substrate is taken over the entire area of ​​the room. The amount of infrared film is calculated taking into account the fact that it cannot be laid under furniture. Therefore, only free space is taken into account. Thermal strips should be laid at a distance of at least 1 cm from each other and 5 cm from the walls. In this case, the copper strip should be at the bottom.

To reduce the length of the connected wires, place the strips with the contacts to the wall on which the thermostat will be placed. Thermal films cannot be stacked on top of each other!
