Materials used for waterproofing roofs. Pitched roof waterproofing: device, materials, installation. Diffuse or breathable membranes

Roof waterproofing is one of the mandatory stages of its arrangement. To treat the roof so that it does not leak after the first long downpour is an extremely important task. Who wants to go back to roofing in a month or two, six months or a year to stop a leak? Therefore, we do everything at once, thoughtfully, using high-quality modern materials.

Before dwelling on different types of roof waterproofing and considering the technology of roof waterproofing, let's discuss what kind of roofs there are. After all, waterproofing solutions will vary depending on whether you are building a flat or pitched roof. Flat roof waterproofing and pitched roof waterproofing differ both in materials and in the way they are installed.

The safety of the insulation and the performance of the entire roof depend on how high-quality the waterproofing of the roof will be with your own hands or carried out by roofing specialists. At the same time, remember that moisture can come both from the outside and in the form of steam that collects in the under-roof space.

Roof waterproofing materials

They are divided into types according to the composition and method of application:

  • waterproofing perforated film (hydrobarrier), anti-condensate film;
  • polymeric films - membranes (PVC membranes, EPDM membranes, spiked, superdiffusion membranes);
  • hydrophilic rubber;
  • coating waterproofing (acrylic, bituminous, silicone, rubber, polyurethane mastics, one- and two-component materials);
  • sprayed waterproofing materials (polyurea, two-component acrylate compounds, liquid rubber);
  • injection materials (polyurethane, acrylate, silicate resins, cements, emulsions);
  • penetrating materials (semi- and penetrating materials).

Polymer membranes

One of the latest technologies in the market of modern waterproofing materials. There are PVC membranes, PDM membranes and diffuse membranes.

The latter are of the following types:

  • diffuse with microperforation;
  • superdiffuse;
  • anti-condensate.

Diffuse membranes with microperforation and superdiffuse membranes are suitable for all types of roofs. For a microperforated membrane, it is important to leave a gap between the roof waterproofing material and the heat insulator during installation; for a superdiffusion membrane, such a gap is not needed. Superdiffusion membranes are most suitable for attic rooms, anti-condensation membranes, in which the non-woven material absorbs all the condensate - the best way for metal roofing.

Membrane service life - up to 25 years. They are durable, have fire and environmental safety.

Multifunctional and PVC membranes. This good material both for the construction of a new roof, and for the repair of an old one. Roof waterproofing, the cost of materials for which is impressive, with such membranes will turn into a real pleasure. Since this is done once every 25 years, it is important to choose good specialists. With the help of welding, they will create a durable waterproofing coating. This film consists of 3 components: PVC layer certain color, a layer of reinforced polyester and another, gray, PVC layer.

Membranes are sold in narrow rolls. Fastened using mechanical, ballast methods or glued. Ballast method - for roofs with a slope angle of up to 10%. The membrane is laid on the roof, fixed around the perimeter of the canvas, covered with gravel or crushed stone. Very often, the method is used in the construction of an inversion roof. If it is impossible to create additional pressure on the roof, mechanical fasteners are used: nails, screws, staples. If the roofs have a complex configuration, the membrane is glued.

PDM membranes are not only multifunctional (suitable for all roofs): they are suitable for the most curved and arched roofs, with any slope angle. Sheets of membranes are stacked one to one, and self-adhesive tape is provided at the joints.

If such a membrane is used for the installation of flat roof waterproofing, then a layer of bulk materials is poured on top. On pitched roofs, panels are fixed or glued. Neither frost nor the sun are terrible for such material: it will last from 25 to 50 years. Due to elasticity, PDM membranes can elongate by 250-300% and take the shape of the surface to be coated. Sharp ends of the roof and chemical substances in the form of fuels and lubricants (fuels and lubricants) and oils for the membrane are harmful. It also needs to be further processed. acrylic coated and update it from time to time.

Coating waterproofing

This is primarily bitumen and materials containing it. A coating from 5 mm to several centimeters is created on the surface. Over time, bitumen loses its plasticity and can be destroyed under mechanical stress. Service life - about 5 years.

Bituminous-polymer mastics are a new generation of coated roof waterproofing. The price for carrying out work on an area of 1 sq. m. fluctuates between 30 and 100 dollars.

Mastic

Mastic is applied on a flat roof or a roof with a minimum angle of inclination. According to the composition, mastic materials are bitumen-polymer, polymer, bitumen-rubber. According to the method of application, they are divided into hot (those that need to be preheated to 160 ° C) and cold mastics (they do not need to be heated at a temperature of +5 ° C and need to be heated to + 70 ° C if the temperature is below + 5 ° C ).

Mastics adhere well to the base, be it concrete, wood, metal. When they harden, they create a continuous, seamless rubber-like coating, the service life of which is at least 20 years. This type of waterproofing is also called self-leveling roofing, and the technology of its application resembles the creation of self-leveling floors.

Paint waterproofing

This is the application of bituminous and polymeric varnishes, paints, emulsions to the coating. Paint waterproofing can be applied manually or with a spray gun. Do it in 2-4 layers for greater strength. The thickness of the waterproofing layer is only 3-6 mm. Fine-grained sand is sprinkled over freshly applied insulation in order to strengthen the coating. The promised service life is 5 years. When choosing materials for roofing, preference should be given to plasticized polymer-bitumen compositions.

For works on painting waterproofing of the roof, the prices are many times higher than for coating. On average, this is from $ 100 per 1 sq. m.

Gluing waterproofing

This method is one of the oldest. It provides for the use of sheet and roll materials: roofing material, glassine, roofing felt, glass felt, isol, hydroisol, brizol. Of the newer ones, these are vinyl plastic, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, isoplast, mostoplast, isoelast, ecoflex.

The surface in this case must be dry and very even: irregularities up to 2 mm are allowed. After leveling and cleaning the surface, it is covered with a primer layer of bitumen emulsion, and then the material is glued. The sheets are overlapped by 10-15 cm. Such waterproofing is sensitive to mechanical damage and difficult to install. At the end of the work, it must be sprinkled with stone chips. At the same time, the temperature for the installation of the material must be at least + 10 ... 15 ° С. But worth the work this species waterproofing is about 10 dollars per 1 sq. m.

Penetrating waterproofing

This type of waterproofing is applied to previously cleaned surfaces with a porous structure. These include: concrete, limestone blocks, brick. Impregnation fills all the pores and cracks, penetrates deeper, and, when solidified, such insulation not only prevents the penetration of moisture, but also strengthens the entire structure. Liquid glass, liquid polymers, synthetic resins and molten bitumen are used as impregnating waterproofing. Spray guns are used to apply the compositions. The base itself must be thoroughly cleaned and degreased so that the composition can penetrate into the pores and form crystals there. After such treatment, water will pass through the cement and the concrete will not seep through.

waterproofing film

This is the easiest and cheapest way of waterproofing, which is used for pitched roofs: under slate, tiles, metal tiles. It is used for insulation of attics or attics with mineral wool and polystyrene foam.

Waterproofing on a pitched roof is laid, starting from the eaves, towards the ridge.

If the angle of inclination of the roof is from 30 degrees, then the overlap between the waterproofing film is 150-200 mm, if the angle is from 15 to 30 degrees, then the overlap should be about 250 mm. In this case, the material should not be stretched: it should sag between the rafters by 15-20 mm.

We settled on the most common groups of waterproofing materials. Now let's consider when which one is better to use.

How to waterproof a roof?

When installing waterproofing of the roof, which will be insulated polystyrene foam, in some cases it is used waterproofing film, and in some - nothing. Expanded polystyrene itself, with sufficient insulation of the joints, can serve as a good waterproofing.

If you need to insulate and protect from moisture flat roof or make it inverse, then you can apply different types membranes in combination with a heater. An even simpler option for flat roof - bulk insulation in the form of the same mastics. At the same time, the use of mastics is relevant both on new roofs and for sealing joints. Liquid rubber on a flat roof is also a great option.

If you still choose on roll materials and will carry out their installation, then pay attention to the roofing material, and to the new products - euroroofing material and rubemast. If it is planned to equip in the attic attic room, then in combination with vapor barrier and insulation can be used superdiffusion membrane. The option is great, but not cheap. For complex roofs exactly membranes- the most acceptable option.

Experts claim that with correct installation slate does not need any waterproofing. Roofing material was once placed under the slate, now it is a hydro-barrier or a perforated waterproofing film. The same material is used for metal roofing.

This film is attached to the rafters on a pitched roof or to the logs on the ceiling. Construction fasteners are used to connect building elements. Stainless steel staples or nails are used as fastening tools, an auxiliary lathing is mounted. For non-insulated attics, such a film in combination with insulation is the most economical option, providing a good combination of price and quality.

for roofs with seam roofing, metal tiles and other types of metal roofing recommended anti-condensation film. For laying the anti-condensation film, both the upper and lower ventilation gaps are required. Therefore, an additional crate is made.

The bottom clearance is not required for the use of membranes.

Concerning euroslate and seam roofing, then since they have very good thermal conductivity, this type of do-it-yourself waterproofing, as a diffusion membrane, does not apply.

For folded roof exists bulk separating membranes. But for shale apply membranes and provide one ventilation gap.

When applied anti-condensation film there should be two such gaps.

When choosing waterproofing for a roof, there are many nuances. But first of all this:

  • roof shape (flat, pitched, complex configuration);
  • purpose (operated or not);
  • type of roofing materials (slate, tile, concrete, metal tile, euroslate, folded, slate and other types of roofing);
  • type of heater.

Experienced craftsmen already have their proven recipes for combining the best waterproofing for a particular "roofing pie". After studying our tips, you can independently choose an acceptable waterproofing option for your home.

The roof of the house should reliably protect its internal space from all adverse environmental factors. To achieve this, you need not only to try to choose the most suitable one, but also to arrange high-quality waterproofing. We will talk about how to do it yourself in this article.

Varieties of modern waterproofing materials

So, how should roof waterproofing be done? Roof protection materials are divided into the following types:

Roll waterproofing

Rolled waterproofing materials on the modern market are presented in a large assortment. In addition to roofing material, you can purchase euroroofing material, glass roofing material, isol, etc. The main advantages of this include the following:

  • Small cost.
  • High degree of reliability.
  • relative durability. Such material can serve for fifteen years. After this time, a couple more layers are simply laid on the roof.
  • Such material can be used immediately after installation.

The disadvantages of rolled ones include, first of all, some complexity of installation. Ordinary roofing material is laid on bituminous mastic. The installation technology resembles the method of pasting walls with wallpaper and is quite long in time. However, if you wish, you can spend a little more to purchase euro or glass roofing material. In this case, the use of mastic will not be necessary. This type is much easier to install. gas burner the edge of the strip laid on the roof surface is heated. Then it is tightly pressed against the roof. The result is a reliable fixation, which completely eliminates the possibility of leaks.

Mastic for roof waterproofing

Very often, in the process of protecting the roof from moisture, various kinds of liquid mastics are used. They are usually used on flat surfaces. Their main advantages include:

Possessing a lot of advantages, liquid roof waterproofing still has one significant drawback - fragility. Such a protective layer will last no more than 6 years. After this period, it will begin to peel off the surface, crack and lose all its properties. The disadvantages of bituminous waterproofing include some complexity of its application.

Film waterproofing

Films are often used to perform such a procedure as roof waterproofing. Materials of this type are popular, primarily because of the low cost and ease of installation.

The simplest insulator of this variety is the usual thick plastic film. However, since it does not let water through not only from the outside, but also from the inside, when it is used in the “pie” of the roof, it is supposed to arrange a double ventilation layer (between roofing material and film and between film and insulation). The joints of the strips are additionally glued with adhesive tape. A film material specially designed for roof waterproofing has a sticky layer around the edges. This somewhat facilitates installation. However, such polyethylene costs a little more than usual.

Films with an anti-condensate layer on the wrong side are considered more convenient to use. This material is able to accumulate moisture vapor on itself, preventing it from flowing down onto the insulation. The water droplets trapped in the film then gradually evaporate.

diffusion material

At the moment, they are the most modern and expensive waterproofing material. Their main distinctive feature is that they are able to pass moisture from the inside of the roofing "pie", while not allowing it to penetrate from the outside.

At the moment, diffusion waterproofing material of several varieties is produced:

  • Pseudo-diffusion. These are products with a low degree of vapor permeability. They are inexpensive, used mainly only in cold attics and roofs.
  • Diffusion normal vapor permeability. It is a more advanced material used to cover the attic. Experts do not recommend using it in dusty attics, as in this case the pores become clogged. Also, this kind of diffusion membranes cannot be used at temperatures below -25 degrees due to freezing of moisture.
  • Three-layer superdiffusion membranes. Can be used in the most difficult conditions. They are not afraid of dust and strong temperature changes, but they are quite expensive.

Manufacturer's choice

Roof waterproofing is a very responsible procedure. Both the convenience of living in the house and the durability of the roof itself depend on how well it will be performed. Therefore, the choice of material should be approached with all responsibility. Among other things, when buying waterproofing, you should pay attention to the manufacturer. You need to purchase material made only by well-known companies with a good reputation. Next, consider what are the most popular brands. different types waterproofing.

Well-known manufacturers of roll materials

The most popular euroruberoid in our country is the product of the Ukrainian company Aquaizol. It is made using fiberglass from leading European manufacturers. Polyester company applies its own production. The result is a very high quality and not too expensive material. If we talk about the usual roofing material, then the owners of private houses speak best of the products of the Samara plant.

Bituminous roof waterproofing: how to choose a manufacturer

To protect roofs from moisture, mastics of such brands as Elastopaz, Inopaz, Master Ruf and Pazkar are most often used. With the use of very high quality water-based Inopaz H2O, reliable waterproofing of the roof can also be performed. The price of this material is not particularly high - 200-250 rubles per kilogram.

Manufacturers and diffusion membranes

The most famous manufacturers producing ordinary, non-breathable films are Yutafol (Czech Republic), Takofol (Finland), TechnoNIKOL (Russia). They are low cost and good waterproofing properties. The most popular is the Russian waterproofing of the roof "Izospan". If we talk about pseudo-diffusion membranes, then domestic consumers respond best to the products of such brands as Yutafol-D, Svitapfol-D and Elvitek.

Those who have decided to choose more modern and expensive "breathing" membranes should pay attention to the following manufacturers: Divoroll (Germany), TechnoNIKOL (Russia) and Tyvek (Luxembourg).

Installation options for waterproofing materials

The method of installation of waterproofing material directly depends on its type. In any case, when sheathing the roof, certain technologies and recommendations should be observed. We will talk further about how to properly fix this or that waterproofing material on the roof.

How to install rolled waterproofing materials

So how is roof waterproofing done? Roll-type materials are laid on the roof in this way:

  • The surface of the slope is cleaned of dirt and dust and primed special means, which is a mixture of gasoline and bitumen.
  • When the primer dries, start gluing strips of roofing material. Bituminous mastic is usually used for fixing. The surface is smeared with an impromptu brush - a rag wound around a long stick. Bitumen is drowned in a barrel over a fire and raised to the roof in buckets. Having dipped the “brush” in a bucket, the roof is smeared with “zigzags” to the width of the ruberoid strip. At the opposite end of the slope, the material is cut with a sharp knife.
  • The edges of the strip after gluing are additionally covered with bitumen.

Usually roofing material is applied to the roof in two or three layers. For the bottom, you can use the usual cheap material. The top layer is laid from roofing material with dressing. On the final stage all joints of the strips of the upper layer are smeared with mastic right on top, and until it has frozen, they are covered with coarse sand.

How to waterproof a roof with a coating method

Next, consider how the waterproofing of the roof is still performed. Liquid bituminous materials, as already mentioned, are used mainly for protection flat roofs. They can be applied to the roof surface with a brush, roller or spray. In any case, a high-quality coating is obtained.

Rubber waterproofing manual method performed using wide rollers or large brushes with short stiff bristles. The composition is first poured onto the roof, and then leveled with a doctor blade and rubbed. As with the use of roofing felt, the roof in this case is waterproofed in several layers. For the mechanized method, special sprayers are used. high pressure designed to work with viscous materials. In this case, the mixture is applied to horizontal surfaces in only one layer, on vertical surfaces - in 2-3.

Roof waterproofing device using film and diffusion materials

In the event that the rafters are made of wide beams and there is an air gap between their upper edge and the surface of the insulation, ordinary plastic film can be used to waterproof the roof. The strips are placed on the slopes in a horizontal direction. They are fastened to the rafters with bars of small thickness to obtain a second ventilation layer. Further, the crate is stuffed on these bars and the roofing material is mounted.

The polyethylene film does not differ in particular strength, and therefore it can break even with small movements in the roof structure (which often occur as a result of thermal expansion). Therefore, this material should not be mounted in tension, but with a slight sag.

Diffusion films can be laid directly on the insulation. In the case of their use, only one ventilation gap is arranged - the upper one. Attach the membrane to the rafters in the same way as a plastic film. In both cases, the bars are fixed on galvanized nails.

The materials discussed above are used for such an operation as roof waterproofing. The price for their various types may vary (from four hundred rubles per square meter). The choice of the most suitable type depends, first of all, on the design features of the roof, as well as on the financial capabilities of the owners of the house.

The waterproofing layer is the most important part of the construction of the roofing pie. For roof waterproofing, various bitumen, bitumen-polymer materials, membranes, mastics are used. Below we consider the features of these materials, the specifics of their application and the principles of choice.

Types of waterproofing materials

Soft roll materials

This category includes various brands of roofing material. The material is made of roofing paper coated with a layer of bitumen. It is used on roofs with different slopes. Its main advantage is low cost. But the service life of rolled bituminous materials is small - about 5 years, depending on the brand. Other disadvantages of roofing material are that it is highly flammable, and the base of roofing paper is extremely fragile. Under the influence of ultraviolet rays, bitumen loses its elasticity and rapidly loses its waterproofing qualities, so the coating needs to be updated regularly. For the indicated reasons, roofing felt is less and less used in the repair or installation of roofing, replacing it with more modern waterproofing roofing materials.

Bitumen-polymer roll materials

This category includes SBS- or APP-modified bitumen roll waterproofing on a fiberglass, fiberglass or polyester backing. Such a coating is durable, easy to install by welding or mechanical fastening. Polymer additives give bitumen elasticity, increase its resistance to adverse effects environment and increase the service life of waterproofing up to several tens of years. Pay attention to the structure of the roll roof in the photo.

Bitumen-polymer roll materials can be used for waterproofing the roof of buildings and structures for any purpose. They are presented in various price categories - from "economy" to "premium". The material can be laid on any non-combustible even base, including during reconstruction old roof.

membranes

Roofing membranes are made of PVC-P with the addition of plasticizers. The material is resistant to UV radiation, does not lose plasticity in frost, is easy to install (without fusing), creating a reliable waterproofing coating, vapor permeable. Roofing membranes are more expensive than other waterproofing materials, but the higher price is offset by a long service life (up to 40 years). Are applied at repair and the device of a roof of inhabited, commercial, industrial objects.

Elastic continuous coating based on a two-component mixture. It is applied to the substrate by cold airless spraying. Liquid rubber has good adhesion, complete moisture resistance, lasts up to 30 years, it can be used to insulate roofing elements with difficult terrain. The main disadvantage of liquid rubber is the complex installation and the need to use specialized equipment. The waterproofing covering from rubber is not vapor-permeable.

Bitumen-polymer mastics

It is applied in several layers when repairing small sections of the roof, used as coating insulation, sealing joints, cracks, and junctions with them. Used as an additional waterproofing agent when installing the roof. As the main roof waterproofing, bitumen-polymer mastics are not used, since the coating does not form a continuous, stable waterproofing carpet.

Features of the choice of waterproofing material for the roof

To create a reliable waterproofing layer of a roofing pie, bitumen-polymer roll materials and waterproofing membranes are most often used. One of the world's leading manufacturers in this segment is ICOPAL. IKOPAL roll materials for roof waterproofing are produced in two versions: for single-layer and for two-layer roofing systems.

Materials for the top layer of a two-layer roofing system are indicated by the letter "B" in the marking (for example, IKOPAL-V), materials for the lower layer are indicated by the letter "H" (for example, IKOPAL-N).

  • For waterproofing a flat roof and a roof with a small slope, it is recommended to use two-layer roof devices roofing systems. They create a reinforced moisture-proof layer of a flat roof.
  • For waterproofing a pitched roof, repairing a flat roof, single-layer and two-layer solutions are suitable. Single-layer systems are more affordable from a financial point of view. They are also lighter than two-layer ones, which reduces the load on the supporting structure of the building.
  • Both single-layer and two-layer systems can be used as a material for repairing an old roof, reinforcing joints.

Advantages of roll materials from SBS-modified bitumen from ICOPAL:

  • The polyester base in IKOPAL bitumen-polymer roll materials is strong and elastic, the waterproofing carpet lasts over 25 years.
  • ICOPAL's SBS-modified bitumen protection profile solutions optimize the installation process.
  • Roll coating can be laid at any time of the year (in the absence of precipitation).
  • Slate dressing on top of the canvas protects the waterproofing carpet from the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation.

Roof membranes

Membranes are a new generation of roll materials for roof waterproofing. Their service life exceeds 30 years. ICOPAL produces MONARPLAN membranes for roof waterproofing, which consist of three layers: two layers of plasticized elastic polyvinyl chloride and fiberglass (or polyester) between them to give the material strength.

Advice. If you are using the membrane to repair an existing roof, please note that membrane roll materials cannot be laid directly on the old layer of bituminous waterproofing.

Advantages of MONARPLAN membranes from ICOPAL:

  • They have a low level of water absorption.
  • Form a stable homogeneous coating.
  • They have vapor permeability, which prevents the accumulation of condensate drops in the roofing cake.
  • Tear resistant.
  • Lungs - about 2 kg per sq. m (depending on the brand of membrane coating), do not create an excessive load on the supporting structure.
  • Installation can be carried out at any time of the year, without the use of an open flame.
  • Resistant to UV rays, temperature extremes, mold and mildew.
  • They have a wide range of applications, suitable for roofing, underground waterproofing.
  • Repairable.

In the MONARPLAN line from ICOPAL there are several types of roofing membranes for waterproofing an operated and non-operated roof, a “green roof” device.

Recommended. Simplify the installation of the roofing membrane and create maximum reliable waterproofing, including on difficult sections of the roof, additional materials from the MONARPLAN series will help: metal sheets for fastening, a membrane sheet for waterproofing junctions, lining to reinforce corners, etc.

When erecting a new construction site or renovating an old building, it is necessary to pay close attention to the moisture insulation of the roof. It is she who, first of all, is at risk, since she takes on all atmospheric loads.

If the roof is not sufficiently protected from external precipitation and condensate, the room will remain high humidity, and this entails the formation of mold and fungus. Against the background of leaks, it will quickly become unusable interior decoration building.

All these problems can be avoided by carrying out high-quality waterproofing of the roof in time. It is especially important to protect a flat roof from moisture, which has almost no slope for water flow.

By their own design features flat roofs are divided into:

  • Cold ( roofing lies on the frame without insulation);
  • Ventilated (with grooves for moisture removal);
  • Closed insulated (with insulation, but without ventilation holes in the base plates);
  • Monolithic (from foam or aerated concrete blocks that do not need insulation);
  • Inversion (structures in which there is a heater, protected from below by roofing material, and from above covered with screenings, turf, concrete and other materials);
  • Operated (they can accommodate various infrastructure facilities such as sports grounds, courts, swimming pools).

For all varieties of flat roofs, a good solution is to arrange a drainage system consisting of gutters and catchment funnels.

It is also recommended to create the necessary slope during the installation process. This technological technique is carried out in several ways using inert materials, cement-sand mixtures, additional layers of insulation, specialized systems. The slope will solve the problem of water accumulation, however, the main protection of the roof lies in the insulation device.

Flat roof waterproofing methods

When choosing waterproofing, you need to proceed from the design of the floor, the intended purpose of the roof, its area and other factors. By far the most popular insulating materials are:

Pasting the roof with a built-up coating is a long-known, traditional way of protecting against water. The main component that provides adhesion to the insulated surface is bitumen. The process of applying the material is accompanied by heating the contact surface to the melting point, which explains its name.

Until recently, roofing material was the most popular material among the welded materials, but due to the short service life and a large number of shortcomings, it is currently used less frequently.

Among modern materials, rid of most of the shortcomings and providing better waterproofing, it can be noted:

To create a reliable waterproofing layer, it is not enough knowledge about modern types materials. Even one of them that costs more may be ineffective if the laying technology is violated.

Before starting work, it is important to understand that the main disadvantages of any deposited roll material is the presence of seams, a low coefficient of stretching and not one hundred percent adhesion to the treated surface.

When laying built-up waterproofing, it is important to follow these recommendations:

  • prepare the surface with high quality, clean it from dust, oil and treat it with a bituminous primer for better adhesion;
  • lay the material sheets in several layers with the location of each subsequent layer above the joints of the previous one;
  • withstand optimum temperature bitumen base heating. Insufficient heating is the main cause of poor adhesion, overheating leads to burnout of the insulating sheet;
  • carry out the deposition of the material on a completely dry surface, otherwise corrosion processes may continue under the waterproofing layer;
  • take into account the rate and percentage of shrinkage of the structure when using welded waterproofing;
  • carry out insulation work at a positive temperature, in view of the fragility of the frozen material of this type.

This material is suitable for roofing. complex design: multilayer, insulated, with a secret drainage system or operated, where great importance attached to environmental and fire safety.

It is recommended to use it when insulating the roof with fibrous or inert materials(such as expanded clay), reinforced with a concrete screed. The emulsion is sprayed either before or after the insulation, insulating it with a film coating.

Liquid rubber is an elastic mixture of latex and bitumen, which is applied to the surface by cold spraying and creates a durable homogeneous membrane. It reliably protects the roof from leaks at temperatures from -50°C to +80°C, without requiring restoration.

The cover adheres tightly to the base and does not let moisture in. The material provides maximum moisture protection of the internal space and is currently considered the most popular. The only downside is its high cost. At the same time, waterproofing with liquid rubber lasts up to 50 years and, of course, pays for itself.

Usage example: TN-ROOF Light system for a non-operated roof without thermal insulation on a concrete base.

Installation conditions: when installing a new and reconstructing an old roof without insulation, when installing a cold attic, during a major overhaul of the roof with the replacement of all layers of insulation.

  2. Technoelast EKP, STO 72746455-3.1.11-2015
  3. Reinforced cement-sand screed with a thickness of at least 50 mm

Advantages:

According to the conclusion of the FGBU VNIIPO EMERCOM of Russia, the roof structure has a fire hazard class of K0 (45) and, depending on the parameters of the reinforced concrete slab, the fire resistance limit is REI 30 - REI 90, which allows the system to be used as coatings in buildings and structures of any degree of fire resistance and with any class of constructive fire hazard.

Regardless of the brand of material, the process of installing liquid waterproofing looks like this:

  • The surface to be insulated is cleaned of debris, degreased and dried with a propane burner;
  • If there are chips and cracks in the monolith, they are sealed with concrete mortar, and the protruding elements and reinforcement are removed;
  • Using pneumatic equipment, liquid rubber is sprayed with a layer of 3-4 mm, starting from the corner. First of all, seams, areas with elevation changes, as well as brick or concrete fences along the perimeter of the roof are processed. Any protruding elements (rain outlets, chimney and ventilation pipes, fasteners) are covered with a sealed film and treated with liquid rubber 15 cm above the roof surface. After spraying the waterproofing, the excess film is cut along the contour and removed. The sections of transitions on the main surface of the roof are also treated with a spade up to 15 cm - this will help to avoid the formation of seams on the membrane.

Like liquid rubber, this type of waterproofing is characterized by durability, frost resistance and a high coefficient of elasticity. For a roof of a large area, this will be best solution, since the membrane is produced in rolls of solid width.

With this material, you can economically cover the roof of any configuration, minimizing the number of seams. PVC membrane is ideal for a simple flat roof with a slight slope - it is this design that is most popular today, because it is cheaper than a pitched one and provides additional space for organizing utility and infrastructure facilities.

The undeniable advantages of membranes include:

  • simplicity and efficiency of installation;
  • light weight rolls;
  • environmental safety, the presence of a fire certificate.

The peculiarity of laying is that this rolled material does not need to be completely glued to the surface, like rolled welded insulation. Membrane sheets are lined with rows with a slight overlap, and the joints are heated by a burner and reliably soldered.

Usage example: built-up waterproofing of the operated roof for pedestrian loading.

Installation conditions: for the efficient and aesthetic use of the roof as an additional resting place, during major repairs or reconstruction with the replacement of all layers of insulation.
