How to veneer a wooden house. What is cheaper to sheathe a house outside? The better to sheathe a country house outside. Video about the use of decorative tiles

When developing a project for a private building, you must immediately decide how to sheathe the house from the outside. After all, it is correct finish facade will make the house not only presentable, but also warm, so you need to carefully choose materials for its insulation and decorative design. Without a solid finish, the house will look ugly and sloppy, and will not be protected from destructive external influences, such as moisture, active solar radiation, wind, thermal changes, etc.

On the modern construction market there is a very large assortment of insulating and decorative materials, from which you can choose suitable for every taste and financial possibilities.

Requirements for facing facade materials

So that dampness does not appear in the house, it is comfortable and warm, and the house looks aesthetically pleasing from the outside, the cladding materials must meet certain requirements.

Based on them, and it is worth choosing the right option. So, the lining should have the following qualities:

  • have low thermal conductivity to keep warm inside the house;
  • have vapor permeability - no condensation should form inside the insulation layers;
  • differ in moisture resistance - do not absorb or retain moisture inside the material;
  • have absolute or increased heat resistance - the skin must withstand high temperatures, under their influence not be deformed and not ignite;
  • have inertness to chemical influences - do not change their characteristics when such substances get on it;
  • be protected from the influence of microorganisms, not serve as a breeding ground for insects and rodents;
  • do not decompose and do not lose physical qualities under the influence of ultraviolet rays.

In order for the sheathing to be effective in all matters, it is necessary not only to securely attach it to the walls decorative material, and, following the technology, cover them with a whole system of layers, each of which will play its role.

There are two main systems for home insulation, and the choice will depend on what material is planned to be used for decorative finishing and on the insulation used. In one of their systems, the insulation is attached directly to the wall with glue, in the other - along the created crate.

Plastering a house

When using insulation boards that have enough high density, for example, foam, fiber cement or tightly pressed glass wool in mats, which will later be covered with plaster on top, wall battens are not needed.

Most often, this principle is applicable on even brick or reinforced concrete walls. In this case, the lining is done as follows:

  • on the wall of the house at the height at which insulation will be installed, a metal profile-holder is fixed, selected according to the thickness of the selected insulation boards. The profile is leveled to a perfectly flat horizontal line;
  • the walls are cleaned of dust, and, before applying the glue, wetted with water for better adhesion;
  • further on insulation boards pre-diluted special glue is applied;

  • the first row of plates is installed on a metal profile and is firmly pressed against the wall;
  • the next row is installed on the first one according to the brickwork system - in the dressing;
  • fixing two or three rows of plates with glue, each of them is additionally fixed with dowel fungi;
  • further work continues according to the same system to the very top. Then the insulation is installed in the same way on other walls;
  • when the layer of glue under the insulation dries, it is necessary to glue all the corners of the building, window and door slopes with reinforcing mesh corners. They are fixed on the same glue, its excess is removed with a spatula;

  • after the corners have dried, the serpentine reinforcing mesh must be fixed on the entire insulated surface;
  • the surface on which the sickle cloth will be glued is smeared with a thin layer of glue. A reinforcing mesh is fixed on top of it, smoothed with a spatula, and excess glue is also removed;
  • when the surface dries well, it must be covered with polymer plaster, with a layer of 2-3 mm;
  • the final step will be the application decorative plaster selected in the appropriate style of building design.

Sheathing a house using crates

Insulating facade system using lathing can be installed in one or two layers. The position of the frame bars will depend on how you plan to install the decorative trim.

  • To install the crate correctly, it is better to first mark the wall. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the width of the insulation mats.
  • Then bars or metal profiles are mounted on the surface of the walls.
  • If a wooden wall is sheathed, then before laying the insulation, a vapor barrier film should be fixed to the entire surface of the walls.
  • Next, insulation mats are laid between the bars of the crate. If necessary, they are fixed to the wall with fungal anchors.

  • After installing the insulation layer, stretch it on top superdiffusion membrane, fixing it on the bars of the crate with staples of the construction stapler.
  • Next, you can install decorative cladding material.

Another option for installing the crate is done in a slightly different way.

  • Markings are also made on the wall and suspensions are fixed along it at a distance of 40-60 cm from each other. Their edges-holders should protrude from the wall by the thickness of the insulation and wooden bars that will be attached to them.

  • These elements will be fasteners not only for the bars, but also for the installed insulation.
  • Insulation mats are marked and cut in those places where they will be put on metal elements.
  • Then the insulation is mounted on the wall, and a diffuse membrane is stretched and fixed on top of it.
  • Next, wooden crate bars are installed in the hangers, the insulation is pressed tightly against the wall with them and fixed in metal holders with self-tapping screws.
  • A decorative sheathing material is also installed on top of this system, using the installed sheathing bars as guides.

Types of decorative trim

Modern materials allow you to make an imitation of brickwork on a wooden wall, or vice versa - brick house transform into a wooden frame. To do this, use linings such as siding made of different materials, wooden lining, block house, thermal panels, ceramic or stone tiles and others. It is necessary to find out in advance how each of the skins is attached and how it looks in the end - this will largely determine which insulation system to choose for it.

Clinker thermal panels

Clinker thermal panels are one of the modern materials for insulation and decoration of facades.

They relatively recently appeared on the construction market, and have already gained wide popularity. This is not at all surprising, since they have many positive qualities.

  • One of the main advantages is that this material immediately performs two functions: it is insulation and decorative trim.
  • The panels perfectly imitate brickwork, and are produced in various colors, so they can be matched to any style and taste.
  • They give the surface absolute accuracy and aesthetics.
  • This type of sheathing is convenient and relatively easy to mount on the wall.
  • Thermal panels can be used for covering any wooden or brick surface.
  • The light weight of the panels makes it possible to do without additional strengthening of the foundation of the old building.
  • Since the materials have a low percentage of water absorption, the facade can be washed from the hose with water under high pressure.
  • The density of the connection of the panels on the wall does not allow cold air to penetrate to the wall of the house.

Thermal panels have a polyurethane foam or polystyrene foam base, on which clinker tiles are pressed. A warm substrate increases the thermal insulation qualities of the panels by two to four times, and creates an optimal vapor permeable microclimate for walls, which allows you to save the material from which the house is built for a longer period.

The structure of the panels - a layer of insulation and decorative brick-like tiles
  • Clinker tiles protect the insulation base from external factors such as wind, precipitation, direct solar ultraviolet rays.
  • Clinker panels are very securely attached to the wall and can last 45-60 years without repair work, without losing their original appearance.
  • The panels are assembled in a single plane using the available locking joints (ridges and grooves), which ensures tight adhesion.

  • Straight, wall thermal panels and corner elements for them are produced, which facilitate the task of decorating the corners of the building, making them absolutely neat, not different from general view walls.

  • Thermal panels are reinforced with plastic guides that prevent deformation and mechanical stresses of the facing material.

Installation of thermal panels

  • Before starting the installation of panels on the wall, it is necessary to revise it for various bulges, significant recesses and chips, which can greatly interfere with quick installation. Therefore, it is necessary to bring the surface of the walls in a perfectly even state.

  • When installing panels on surfaces that have large irregularities, for example, the walls of a log cabin, a crate of wooden beams is arranged on them.

  • In this case, it is very important to correctly calculate the location of the elements of the crate so that the fastening of the panels is successful. Each of the panels to be fixed must have at least three battens to create the necessary rigidity of the skin.

The diagram clearly shows the attachment points to the wall or crate and the dimensions of the panel itself and the protruding locking ridges.

  • After the wall surface is completely sheathed, the seams between the individual tiles are filled with a special grout. This finally isolates the insulation from external influences, gives the design of the walls the appearance of natural brickwork.

House siding upholstery

Another fairly popular way to transform the facade is It is produced in various forms, imitating wooden and stone wall coverings.

It is made from different materials using two technological processes- mono-extrusion or co-extrusion. The first of them is the molding of siding panels from a homogeneous mass, and the second is manufacturing double layer elements. The top layer of the material is protective against external influences, and the bottom one is the base of the panel.

A truly high-quality siding has a whole range of advantages:

  • it is resistant to mechanical stress, such as impacts and scratches, while at the same time having good elasticity;
  • the material is safe in fire protection, resistant to thermal shocks. High operational qualities of the material allow it to be used in various climatic conditions;
  • siding is not susceptible to the formation of colonies of microorganisms, damage by insects;
  • high-quality material is not seriously affected by ultraviolet rays, so it does not lose its original appearance for many years. The service life of siding is about ten years;
  • panels provide reliable protection for the walls of the building from wind and precipitation;
  • the material does not require special care and is well put in order with a jet of water under strong pressure. The surface itself does not absorb dirt;
  • cn siding is special to give any facade an aesthetic appearance. Numerous shades and the possibility of their combination open up great opportunities for design solutions;
  • the material is non-toxic, and therefore harmless to human health;
  • in addition, compared to other materials, siding is quite easy to install and affordable.

Types of facade siding

saydi ng facade claddings are made from vinyl, aluminium, thin steel, cement-cellulose pulp and based on wood raw materials.

  • Aluminum and steel siding is mainly used in industrial facilities, but is also used for finishing private houses. The material is produced in a variety of colors, so it will perfectly decorate any facade of the house.

  • Facing material from wood fibers and their binding components is made by pressing raw materials under high pressure and then covered with protective paints. This siding is also well suited for cladding the facades of private houses.

Fiber cement siding - great for plinth sheathing
  • Cement-cellulose version of the facing material - most often used for lining the basement sections of the building.

The most common is vinyl siding.
  • The most popular and affordable is vinyl siding. It is widely used for finishing private buildings, and it justifies itself with a long-term operational period and other positive qualities. Since this material is acquired and used more often than others, it is worth considering in more detail.

Vinyl siding

This type of siding is made in the form of stacked strip panels with a perforated edge through which they are fastened with nails or self-tapping screws. In addition, there is a lock-latch on the strips for pairing adjacent panels with each other.

The material is produced in the form of one, two or three "boards", which simplifies and speeds up the installation of siding on the wall.

The pattern of the siding can also be different. Often this is the usual “lining”, but other types are rapidly gaining popularity, for example, “ship board” or “herringbone”. The surface of the material can imitate the texture and color range of different materials. Panels can be mounted in a horizontal and vertical position, but for everything to go well, you need to foresee the location of the crate bars.

Vinyl siding at the production stage is often covered with paint that contains titanium dioxide, which keeps the surface in its original state for many years and gives any color a pastel softness. At the same time, you need to know that the bright shades of the material indicate the absence of this component, so such coatings lose their original color much faster.

Installation of siding panels

Installation work of installing siding horizontally begins from the bottom of the house. Adjacent panels overlap each other and snap into place. The panel is fixed to the crate with nails along the upper part, through special holes.

During installation, you should strive to minimize the number of vertical joints. If the dimensions of the wall do not allow this (longer standard sizes panels), use a special docking profile, installing it strictly vertically from the bottom to the top of the wall.

During the installation of siding on the walls, additional decorative typesetting elements are also installed, which will give the facade completeness - external and internal corners, spotlights, ebbs, window and door slopes etc .

Block house

The block house is made of natural wood and is a board with a semicircular surface. A house sheathed with this material imitates a log cabin.

There are two longitudinal grooves on the flat side of the block house board, which are designed to relieve stress from the load and improve ventilation. In addition, for easy installation, there is a groove on the bottom edge of the panel, and a spike on the top edge.

Block house panels are available in several standard sizes - from 3 to 6 m in length, from 20 to 45 mm thick and from 99 to 220 mm wide.

For the manufacture of this sheathing material, conifers are mainly used, such as pine, spruce, larch. With proper processing and qualities, raw materials, this wood will serve for many years as a facade cladding. Wood is naturally endowed with excellent qualities that people began to skillfully use to build and decorate housing.

What are the main advantages of this facade material:

– ecological cleanliness inherent in natural wood;

- lightness and strength;

— resistance to high and low temperatures;

- ease of installation;

- the ability to "breathe" - this creates a special comfortable microclimate in the house;

- affordability in price compared to a solid log.

The material is easily attached to the crate of the insulation system and is perfect for finishing not only facades, but also interior walls.

  • The first thing to do is to adapt the wood to the conditions in which it will be fixed to the facade. To do this, the block house panels are laid out on a prepared base, for example, spread polyethylene, and left for a day.
  • Then each panel must be completely covered with the first layer of antiseptic.
  • After it dries, as a rule, all the flaws of the material appear, such as roughness and irregularities. They must be removed with sandpaper.
  • A second layer of antiseptic should be applied to the leveled surface. On sale are similar tools that already have in their composition colorants- They will help protect the wood from UV rays. If such processing of the material is used, then it no longer needs further painting or varnishing.
  • The block house is attached to the crate, starting from the bottom of the wall of the house. The first panel is laid up with a spike - this is done so that during precipitation water does not get into the groove of the panel.

  • In places where you have to screw the board through, the screw must be recessed and masked. As a composition for covering such holes, you can use wood glue mixed with fine sawdust. You can close the hole with a dowel, the cut of which is aligned and tinted in the color of the panel.
  • Installation continues along the "groove-thorn" system throughout the entire plane of the wall. The material is fixed with self-tapping screws to the crate.

  • At the corners, the panels are joined through installed corner boards or through a cut at an angle of 45 degrees.
  • If it is necessary to lengthen the panel, its two segments are connected with a bar of the same width as the boards themselves. It is fixed on the reverse side, and then the joint is sealed with the mentioned mixture of glue and sawdust.

During construction or restoration country house one of the main roles is given to the outer skin of the building. It completely depends on the appearance of the building, as well as various specifications, each of which is important.

General properties and characteristics

The construction industry and the introduction of the latest innovations into it are moving forward. Natural wood as cladding material country houses and cottages still remains one of the most popular and best-selling building materials.

Often, builders, using wood as a sheathing material, can resort to facing the house from the outside. This allows you to achieve a beautiful, prominent result, create the appearance of a “Russian hut” and sheathe the house with the highest quality. There are many reasons, referring to which we can say with confidence that the cladding of the house is desirable, and sometimes a mandatory construction procedure.

In addition, there are a number of factors and necessary conditions that you should pay attention to when choosing a sheathing material:

  • Unfavorable climatic factors can always contribute to breakdowns and any destruction. To avoid this, it is recommended to resort to house cladding, mainly with additional protection against impregnation by sedimentary moisture and condensate.
  • Thermal conductivity and vapor permeability must be excluded, thereby ensuring that the house is sheathed with a material that implies high-quality thermal and waterproofing.

  • Noise can also often interfere, so you should choose a material with good sound insulation.
  • It happens that over time, the skin often loses its former attractive appearance due to fading. To prevent an undesirable situation, it is recommended to choose a sheathing material that will steadfastly respond to the influence of sunlight and ultraviolet rays.
  • A fire can strike at any moment. To avoid this, there are materials for cladding home, the use of which will secure and protect the home from open fire.
  • Specialists often put forward material requirements that ensure ease of installation, as a result of which the use of special equipment is optional.

The best option, according to builders, is the choice of facing material, which mainly performs protective and aesthetic functions.

However, home owners often have to choose between reliability and aesthetics, as it is quite difficult to find a material that meets both characteristics.

Facade finishing requirements

In order to increase the life of the dwelling, it is worth taking care of the possible influence of adverse external factors and ensuring the protection of load-bearing structures. Good thermal insulation and vapor barrier, exclusion of the possibility of moisture penetration into the middle of the house, as well as its evaporation to the outside - these are the main goals of a well-mounted facade of the house. Do not forget that the facade is necessary not only to protect the entire house, but the building itself must protect the design of the facade. So the design of the building itself is the most important aspect in planning the entire installation.

In the exterior decoration of the log walls of a building, several are most often used at once. insulating materials for the best insulation.

Weather conditions and various external factors pose a great danger to the facade during the implementation of finishing works. Otherwise, you will have to return to the repair of the facade every year, and the process is complex and very painstaking.

In order for the facing of the logs of the erected dwelling not to be damaged, need to pay Special attention for various chemical protection products in order to prevent the influence of rain, wind, frost and other climatic factors. So that the sun's rays do not render Negative influence on the cladding, after building a house from rounded timber, you can also resort to using acrylic paint over the facing material.

Popular types

Block house

Among modern materials for facade cladding, one of the first positions is occupied by a block house, which is shown by statistics and consumer reviews. This type cladding is particularly popular in Canada and Northern Europe. Block house is used not only for facade cladding, but also for interior decoration. It is a sheathing board that looks like a log house.

When choosing a board for sheathing, you should pay attention to annual rings: the closer and closer they are located in relation to each other, the better and better the wood is.

In addition to the fact that the block house is one of the most economical options, it is also an environmentally friendly material that has characteristic distinctive features and benefits, namely:

  • durability. The cladding does not crack or deform. Manufacturers guarantee that the sheathing with a block house rail and corrugated board will retain an attractive and aesthetic appearance for many years;

  • a block house is often sheathed if necessary to hide construction defects;
  • this material is not characterized by mold, fungi and any decay;
  • installation of the facade with a rail and its processing by means of a block house does not require special knowledge, and also requires a minimum amount of time and effort;
  • the material has excellent waterproofing properties, especially the pine block house, which initially needs to be processed.

From negative aspects The use of a block house can be divided into the following:

  • high flammability, since wood that is prone to fire is used for its manufacture;
  • the material has low vapor permeability, as a result of which there is a high risk of condensation.

clapboard

A good option when choosing a material for facing the facade of a house is lining. It has high sound and heat insulation, and also gives the structure a decorative effect. This material has such obvious advantages as:

  • durability, as it does not rot under the influence of external factors, is not affected by a humid environment;
  • provides an aesthetic appearance of the building.

However, there are also negative features of this choice, namely:

  • needs careful care;
  • has a high price;
  • has low fire resistance;
  • to maintain a presentable appearance, periodic painting is necessary.

Brick

Another popular material preferred by many builders for facing a rustic dwelling is brick. Performing the final cladding of the facade with brick will give the building the most aesthetic and well-groomed appearance, however, it is worth noting that this is a rather expensive pleasure, and not everyone can afford it. As alternative you can always resort to the use of facade panels under the brick. Facing the house with brick is pretty good, because this material has the following advantages:

  • the brick is not affected by weather conditions and other external factors that can lead to rotting of the material;

  • brick is not combustible, however, exposure to fire reduces its strength level by more than 50%;
  • The material is characterized by good sound insulation.

Among the properties of bricks, there are also negative points, such as:

  • has low heat-saving characteristics, as a result of which it is necessary to use additional insulation during the construction process;
  • high price.

Porcelain stoneware

Porcelain stoneware is a popular material for cladding the facade of a house, which protects well from natural influences and external factors. Finishing with this material has an attractive and modern look. Porcelain stoneware has the following advantages:

  • has moisture-absorbing properties, which makes it not affected by moisture;
  • mechanical influences do not pose a danger to porcelain stoneware due to its characteristic strength and hardness;
  • is non-combustible and monolithic. Its design is solid and does not involve cracks.

However, despite a number of advantages, the following disadvantages of this material should also be noted:

  • has a high cost and is not an economical solution;
  • characterized by complex and long process installation.

Clinker tiles

Clinker tiles are another material that is ideal for cladding the facade of a building in a stylish and attractive way. In addition to an aesthetic and presentable appearance, this material will also provide protection from external factors and weather conditions, therefore it is distinguished by durability and quality. For the manufacture of clinker tiles, slate glycine, flux and coloring pigment are used.

Manufacturers face an important task to prevent even the slightest failure and to produce quality work. Otherwise, deformation of the material will occur, and the result of work on the product will noticeably deteriorate.

Many builders give their preference to clinker tiles, because This material is in great demand due to a number of such obvious advantages as:

  • the use of clinker tiles ensures a long service life due to its useful properties and high quality;
  • this material will not be deformed as a result of the influence of severe frosts and sudden temperature changes due to low level moisture absorption;
  • this material is good for its unpretentiousness and does not require special care, since dust settles little on the surface, and moss and lichens can rarely appear.

The negative characteristics of this material include the following:

  • special fragility, since the clinker is made of ceramics;
  • high price.

Siding

There are many popular materials for cladding and restoration of a country house, ranging from corrugated board to siding. Resorting to the exterior cladding of houses, builders often opt for siding. Aesthetic appearance, high-quality thermal insulation and high strength provide this facing material with an honest and good name in the market. In appearance, the siding is a narrow strip-like panel with a punched edge and a fastening in the form of a lock. It is often used in cases where it is necessary to hide any construction flaws and damage.

There are the following types of siding:

  • vinyl;
  • wooden;
  • cement;
  • steel;
  • aluminum;
  • ceramic.

Siding has a number of advantages that describe its positive characteristics, namely:

  • it retains its expensive and aesthetic appearance for half a century, which indicates its durability as a material. In addition, if there is a siding cladding, permanent painting of the coating is not necessary;
  • when choosing a siding with installation, there are unlikely to be any problems, since the design does not involve complex work;
  • in case of contamination of the siding material, it can be easily cleaned with ordinary water.

Siding also has such negative qualities as:

  • the main part of the coatings is subject to mechanical stress;
  • does not have extensive colors for every taste;
  • high price;
  • vinyl siding sheets become brittle in severe frosts.

For combined buildings

The combination of facades is a great way to create an original, stylish and unique building. Combined facades involve the division into functional areas and blocks in accordance with the different facing materials used. Having certain design ideas, you can realize a unique idea, transform or recreate interesting style facade of the house.

To date, the uniform finishing of facades with sheathing material has been quite successfully replaced by a combined one thanks to creativity and good architectural imagination. In order to implement a combined cladding, at least two types of finishing materials are used.

The combined cladding of the facades of a country house has a number of undeniable advantages, namely:

  • if you correctly combine and plaster facing materials, you can easily change the visual perception of the structure: lengthen, reduce, expand;
  • this type of installation is not time-consuming, does not involve high costs due to the fragmentary use of expensive high-quality materials;
  • an individual and original facade of the house is provided.

There are many types of combination of different materials, among which the following are worth highlighting:

  • decoration of different floors with various materials is welcome if the house being designed is a multi-storey building;
  • it will look good if you whiten and emphasize some parts of the building through a combination of facing materials around the entire perimeter of the house.

Attention should be paid to two existing technologies for combining materials.

Vertical technology involves the use of materials in contrasting shades. Aesthetic appearance ensures the design of the entire facade with one material, and the design of any parts and elements of the structure, window or doorways others.

The horizontal design technology of combined facades is a direct selection of the horizontal parts of the facade, plinths, floors, roofs. Most often, this technology is carried out with a combination of specific materials: stone and wood, brick and wood, and sometimes even tiles and wood.

Mounting methods

Any installation begins with the creation of a drawing and a project, the necessary markup, a plan necessary for an accurate representation of all further construction work. The preparation process begins with such preliminary work as leveling the walls, removing defects and various existing roughness on the surface. This is directly related to the creation of the crate, whereby a distance of 5–7 cm is formed.

Thus, all unwanted defects and irregularities will be hidden and will not remain noticeable. After creating the project, one should, focusing on it, mark the walls, install existing profiles and beacons.

It is necessary to mount the brackets so that the vertical step does not exceed 80 cm, and the horizontal step does not exceed the total value of the mounting joint and the width of the slab.

One of critical aspects high-quality work on the installation of the facade is good thermal insulation, after all, this is a very significant thing that helps to significantly save money and not go broke on heating a country house. Directly for these purposes, special insulation boards are used, which are attached to the wall using the necessary fasteners.

It is important that there is not even the smallest distance between the wall and the insulation itself. For the most part, the fastening of the insulation layer is carried out by means of screws with a wide hat or dowels. The distance from the insulation layer to the future coating varies within 50 mm.

A very important step during installation is protection against blowing.

For this purpose, a special windproof membrane is used, which is installed on top of the insulation layer itself. A significant aspect is the need to cover the carrier profiles. For this, a plumb line is used, and it is important to control the distance between them. The fastening of profiles is often carried out by using self-tapping screws for metal with a press washer.

Next, follows the fastening of the panels themselves, the selected material for decorating the facade of a private house. To fasten the panels to the supporting profiles, special clamps or other devices are required. Their choice depends on the material used. The complexity of the installation of the facade of the house or the reconstruction of the old building depends on the facing material itself.

In order to achieve the maximum qualitative result, it is necessary to follow a clear sequence for the implementation of the allotted points. Otherwise, obvious defects and marriages are likely to occur.

Finishing repair of the facade of any house is worth attention, because over time, any construction material tends to collapse and loses its attractiveness. Repair work on the sheathing of the frame of the house or on its cladding directly depends on the type of material from which the walls are built. If you are ready to do the finishing of a country or country house outside, we will answer all questions and help you complete the repair quickly and efficiently.

Main questions

Probably, you have not even thought about how wide the choice of finishing materials that can suit your home is: stucco, natural or decorative rock, lining, wood, metal, clay tiles, thermal panels and many others. No less wide is the range of colors, varieties of each of the materials. If the materials are used correctly and wisely combined, the facade of your house will be no different from a professional design solution.

We propose to consider how the decoration of houses is carried out outside.

Required material characteristics

A beloved home should not only have comfort, warmth, spaciousness and coziness inside, but also look aesthetically pleasing, attractive and be protected from natural disasters from the outside. To do this, the selected material for cladding must meet a minimum of qualities in order to serve for a long time:

  • low thermal conductivity in order to retain and maintain a warm indoor temperature;
  • high vapor permeability of the material so that moisture cannot accumulate between the layers of insulation;
  • moisture resistance - an obvious quality for outdoor use;
  • resistance to temperature extremes and hot or cold climates;
  • the presence of an inert reaction to chemical influences;
  • a special microclimate so that there are no favorable conditions for the reproduction of pests, fungus and mold;
  • preservation of properties in direct sunlight.

Facing material will last a long time, if you do not forget about the need for protective actions.

Plaster as an option for cladding a house

It is often used as a finishing coating on insulated plate options, for example, on foam plastic, fiber cement and others. The main material of the walls is concrete or brick.

Before applying decorative plaster on the walls, you must:

  1. We install a heater that rests on metal profiles-holders. The thickness of the profile is fully consistent with the width of the insulated material. Dust and dirt are removed from the walls. A specially diluted adhesive composition is applied to the surface of the insulation, after which it is attached to the walls in an ordinary manner. After the glue dries, all corners, window, doorways are glued with a reinforcing mesh.
  2. We give time for the insulation to dry completely and proceed to the application of a polymer plaster coating on the walls. The layer of plaster on the walls should be uniform and be 2-3 mm.
  3. The final stage of finishing can be considered the final application of decorative plaster. It must be chosen to your taste, color, texture and arrange in your own way.

Facade trim

The crate serves as an auxiliary frame for applying a decorative coating layer. Its number of layers and the position of the lumber masonry directly depend on the decorative sheathing.

  1. We mark the approximate location of the bars on the wall. The width between the beams should be such that the insulation can easily fit into the gaps.
  2. We mount the bars on the wall, fixing them with anchors.
  3. We make installation of a heater on walls. Next, we stretch the diffuse membrane, fastening it to the crate with construction brackets.
  4. We breed decorative facing material, apply it over the entire area of \u200b\u200bthe walls and give time to dry.

Another method of crating can be used if desired. It consists in the fact that wooden hangers are attached to the wall with such an interval from it that the insulation fits into the gap. The distance between the bars should be about 60 cm. Thus, the crate has a "U"-shaped shape, on which the decorative trim of the house from SIP panels or another option is attached finishing material.

Types of decorative trim

It is very important to know as much as possible about the facing material in order to skillfully apply it to your home. Finishing work outside always starts with a choice suitable material and design planning. Let's look at some options:

Clinker thermal panels - an option that combines and decorative trim and wall insulation. One of the advantages of this material is its versatility. The panels are placed to create the visual effect of a brick house. Installation of decorative laying of panels does not require much effort. The uniqueness of the panels allows you to take care of the external walls by washing and cleaning them under a water jet. Clinker tiles are characterized by their reliability, resistance to precipitation and durability. The total service life of the coating can reach 60 years. The shape of the panels can be straight and angular, which calmly allows you to finish all the end and corner elements without much difficulty.

Siding panels - a popular way to transform walls, imitating masonry or wood cladding. High-quality material is distinguished by its strength, safety in operation, protection from the propagation of pests or fungus and direct resistance to natural precipitation. Note that siding is often chosen by builders, as it does not require frequent care, and if such a desire arose, it is enough to wash it. The structure of the panels may differ: metal constructions, wood material, cement-cellulose version of siding or ordinary vinyl.

Natural wood block house , imitating a log house, is perfect for lovers of log structures. Firstly, the surface of such material is environmentally friendly, light and easy to install. Secondly, the block house is characterized by resistance to moisture, temperature extremes and the ability to create a favorable microclimate. Varieties of material are reduced to metal and vinyl structures.

Fiber cement boards made on the basis of fiber-wood. The composition of the panels includes quartz, mica, cement, possibly containing chlorine and asbestos. The final coating of the material is a protective and decorative application of acrylic, hydrophilic or photoceramic coatings. To change the size of the slabs, use electric jigsaw, for installation, the formation of a crate is required. Thus, the material serves to decorate the house in the same way as siding panels on the outside of the facade or other types of durable decorative coatings.

No less popular type of material for facade decoration - fake diamond , imitated under natural breeds. The use of such material, in contrast to natural stone saves a lot cash for repairs, and also facilitates installation due to its weight and convenient shape.

Exterior decoration of houses

Having figured out the question of which facade to choose for your home, the following immediately appears: “How to choose the material?”. The basic requirements for all types of cladding have been specified, which means that it remains to determine the coverage depending on the material from which the house was built.

Finishing a wooden house outside

Today, wood remains a very beautiful and high-quality material, but it needs constant care, since the material is most often exposed to external factors. Any owner would like to enclose his house from precipitation, temperature changes, from moisture. For such a case, there is useful way- facade cladding.

Start off Finishing work It is possible only after you are convinced of the complete shrinkage of the house. This may take at least a year. Facing, including finishing the house from a bar outside, is needed only when the house is in use all year round. Warming the house for country purposes is not necessary, it will be enough to treat the wood surface with protective antiseptics and cover it with varnishes and paints.

External wood finishing is divided into several stages:

  • preliminary preparation of the walls;
  • installation of a vapor barrier layer;
  • creation and assembly of the frame of the crate;
  • installation of a heater;
  • work of protection against moisture and condensates;
  • decorative wall covering.

As for the choice of facing material, it is worth paying attention to the features of the coating. It is important to warn that the material should be light so as not to increase total load to the foundation. So, wooden house will be transformed if it is trimmed from the outside:

wooden clapboard:

block house:

  • made of coniferous material;
  • according to the characteristics it is similar to the lining;
  • finishing is made under imitation of a log house.

siding panels:

  • affordable price;
  • easy handling in care;
  • there is no need to treat the surface or tint;
  • material strength;
  • in terms of installation is very convenient.

Home finishing options

The easiest way to finish a frame house is with such facing materials as brick, wood, siding panels, thermal panels, as well as perform a number of other manipulations: plastering walls, painting them, and more. It is important that it is necessary to decide on the type of exterior finish at the design stage of the house, since certain materials must be used for decoration already at the stage of foundation construction.

brick finish

Using natural brick or simulated artificial material- the choice is yours. One thing to consider: the use natural stone according to the standard rules for finishing the facade, it can lead to complete destruction in the future. Finishing will not last the expected period, while damaging the frame of the house itself.

wood finish

Finishing a country house with wood is a less difficult option, it will help the house acquire a stylish and modern “color”. Wooden coverings retain heat quite poorly, so it is recommended to use wood as a finish on double-frame houses. The disadvantage of the coating can be the constant care of the tree, its treatment with antiseptic and protective solutions. For some, this may not be a problem.

Siding

Simple and convenient. Frame houses can withstand the usual fastening of panels from the outside directly to the walls. The material differs mainly in that it does not deform during temperature changes and under the influence of precipitation. The choice of one or another type of siding depends on your preferences.

Thermal panels

The peculiarity of their use lies in their double layer: insulation + decorative coating, which greatly facilitates the work of the master when finishing the facade. Often a choice when finishing frame house the hosts stop on this material.

Other types of finishing coatings include paint and other polymeric substances. It is important to consider that a material that is specially made for OSB is suitable. We advise you not to use materials from unpopular manufacturers.

Aerated concrete house decoration

Brick or thermal panels for aerated concrete walls are the best option. The material is considered very durable and creates a special microclimate that is favorable for walls. The advantages of brick finishing a house made of aerated concrete from the outside are:

  • affordability of the price for any consumer;
  • varieties of variations of decoration and creation of drawings;
  • used for low-rise cottages and houses.

An alternative option can be porcelain stoneware or clinker tiles, as well as thermal panels.

Thus, any facade, any material with a variety of the construction market can be protected from weather conditions and other external factors, while ennobling the walls of the house and making them attractive to you and your neighbors. Plan everything in advance and create a unique atmosphere of home warmth, starting with the cladding of the frame of your cottage or country house.

After the construction of a private house is completed, the developer has a question about how to sheathe it to create the required thermal insulation and an attractive appearance. Modern facing materials are widely represented in the construction market, so it is important to understand their characteristics in order to choose the best option.

Cladding material requirements

Exterior finish is important

Facing materials are used to create a comfortable environment in the house, prevent the occurrence of dampness and give the building an attractive appearance. All of them must meet a number of requirements:

  • Thermal conductivity should be minimal, which will reduce heat loss.
  • The vapor permeability of the inner layers of the material should not allow condensation to occur.
  • The level of moisture resistance should prevent the penetration and stay of moisture in the material.
  • The degree of heat resistance should be maximum, which will allow the skin to not be deformed and not ignite under the influence of high temperatures.
  • Do not enter into chemical interaction with substances that fall on the lining material and do not change their properties when exposed to them.
  • The material must be protected from biological factors and not be food for animals.
  • The properties and characteristics of the material should not change under the influence of sunlight.

The effectiveness of the cladding can be maximized not only when it is securely fixed on the surface of the walls, but also if the installation technology is followed.

Plastering a house

Sheathing the house from the outside with the use of foam, fiber cement or glass wool in the form of mats provides for further plastering. Therefore, the crate is not provided in this case. This technique is usually used when facing walls made of brick or reinforced concrete.

Plastering a house

The technology for performing work is as follows:

  • To install the insulation on the wall, a profile made of metal is fixed. It is selected in accordance with the thickness of the insulation material. The installation of profiles must be level.
  • In order to improve the adhesion of wall material and insulation, their surface must be cleaned of dust and moistened with water.
  • After that, glue is applied to the insulation material.
  • The plates of the first row are installed on the profile and pressed against the wall surface with force.
  • In the future, the installation of plates occurs according to the principle that is used when laying bricks in dressing.

After fixing two or three rows with glue, the plates are additionally fixed to the dowels.

  • After waiting for the glue to dry, the slopes are glued with corners equipped with a reinforcing mesh. For this, the same glue is used.
  • When the corners dry out, the sickle mesh is fixed with glue over the entire surface, which will be insulated.
  • After the glue has dried, polymer plaster is applied to the surface in several layers.
  • The final stage is the imposition of decorative plaster.

Decorative plaster

Sheathing a house using crates

Insulation of walls using lathing may involve their installation in 1-2 layers. At the same time, the bars that make up the frame are arranged in accordance with the installation scheme of the decorative cladding.
To achieve the best result, pre-marking should be carried out taking into account the dimensions of the insulation material. After that, the installation of bars or profiles is carried out. In the case of sheathing a wooden surface, it is necessary to install a vapor barrier before fixing the insulation.

Sheathing a house using crates

The mats are laid in the crate space and, if necessary, they are fixed with anchors. Having completed this stage, it is necessary to stretch and fix the diffusion membrane with construction brackets. The work ends with the installation of decorative material.

Types of decorative trim

The possibilities of modern facing materials allow you to transform the surface of the walls beyond recognition. The installation of each of them has a certain specificity, which significantly affects the appearance of the building.

Clinker thermal panels

This material belongs to modern species cladding, which will not only insulate the building, but also decorate it. The main characteristics of clinker thermal panels are as follows:

  • versatility of the material;
  • externally, the material is an imitation of brickwork, its color scheme can be selected in accordance with personal taste preferences;
  • simplicity and convenience during installation;
  • a wide range of materials on which this cladding can be mounted;
  • the insignificant weight of the material does not require strengthening the foundation;
  • care of the surface of the cladding can be carried out under the pressure of water, since the material has an extremely low water absorption rate;
  • tight fit of the panels to the wall surface reliably isolate the house from heat loss.

Clinker thermal panels

The basis of thermal panels consists of polyurethane foam or expanded polystyrene. Clinker tiles are attached to it. This design allows you to increase the thermal insulation several times, as well as increase the durability of the wall material. This is due to the fact that the panels are reliable protection against the effects of atmospheric factors. At the same time, the operational life of the material reaches half a century without repair.

sheathing

Thermal panels are mounted using the original connection mechanism, which ensures maximum tightness of connections. When assembled, the cladding is a single plane.
The configuration of the panels corresponds to their location on the building, and can be straight, wall or corner. The use of plastic guides prevents the occurrence of deformations and internal stresses of the cladding material.

Facing the house with clinker thermal panels

Before you begin to sheathe the house from the outside, it is important to examine the surface of the walls. If there are various defects that may interfere with the cladding process, they should be removed and the wall smoothed. If the irregularities are significant, then a crate device is necessary. The location of the crate parts should provide the required rigidity of the casing fastening. After completion of the cladding measures, it is necessary to grout the joints between the panels with a special grouting material. Thus, the maximum tightness of the insulation elements is achieved, and the cladding is given a look similar to brickwork.

House siding upholstery

House cladding with siding is very popular. The appearance of this material can imitate various natural coatings. A variety of materials can be used in its production. Mono-extrusion or co-extrusion is the basis of siding technology. In the first case, a homogeneous mass is the basis for the formation of the panel, in the second case, the elements have two layers, one of which serves to protect against external factors, and the other is the basis of the product.

Outer beauty

High-quality siding has a number of advantages:

  • High resistance to mechanical impact in the form of impacts and scratches.
  • Sufficient elasticity.
  • It has the required level of fire safety and is resistant to temperature changes. This makes it possible to use the material in different climate conditions.
  • Absolute resistance to biological factors.
  • Exposure to sunlight does not lead to a loss of material characteristics, so it has a significant durability.
  • High operational qualities.
  • The material is unpretentious in care. It is enough to direct a water jet to the surface of the cladding to clean it.
  • Siding is safe for human health.
  • Installation of this cladding is simple.
  • Affordable cost.

Siding installation

Siding installation

Sheathing the house from the outside with the help of siding in the horizontal direction begins from the bottom of the building. This is done by overlapping the panels one on top of the other with a lock-like fixation. The fastening of the panel to the material of the crate is carried out in its upper part through specially provided gratings.

During the installation of siding, it is necessary that the number of joints in the vertical direction be as small as possible. If possible, it is recommended to use a specially designed profile for joining, which is mounted in strict accordance with the vertical along the entire length
This type of cladding acquires completeness when using a variety of decorative elements. Corners, soffits, ebbs, slopes and a number of others can be applied here.

Block house

Can be used as house cladding outside interesting solution cladding material - block house. For its manufacture, natural wood is used in the form of boards with a surface in the form of a semicircle. As a result of installation by a block house, the house takes the form of a log cabin.

House sheathed in a block house

The smooth side of the facing material is provided with two longitudinal grooves. Their purpose is to relieve emerging stresses and improve the quality of ventilation. Installation of facing boards is carried out with the help of grooves and reciprocal spikes, respectively, from below and from above.

The material for the production of the block house is coniferous wood. With its high-quality processing, significant durability of the cladding can be achieved. The material has a number of unique properties:

  • the material is absolutely environmentally friendly;
  • has significant strength properties with a small mass;
  • ability to withstand significant temperature fluctuations;
  • ease of installation;
  • the tree has the ability to "breathe", which allows you to get a comfortable atmosphere in the premises of the house;
  • the cost of the material is available to a wide category of consumers and is much lower than a solid log.

In addition to wood, a block house can be made of metal or vinyl with imitation of natural logs. In this case, the cost of products is significantly reduced while maintaining the attractiveness of the lined surface and the durability of the material. In this case, the unique atmosphere that the tree creates will be lost.

Facade cladding with block house

Before starting work on wall cladding with a block house, it is necessary that the wood be adapted to the operating conditions. After that, the panels are treated with an antiseptic. In the process of its drying, various defects can be identified, which must be eliminated and the application of an antiseptic agent should be reapplied.

In the process of sheathing with a block house

Installation of a block house begins from the bottom of the house. In this case, the spike of the first panel should be directed upwards. This arrangement will prevent the penetration of atmospheric moisture. In places where the use of self-tapping screws is envisaged, after screwing in, they are decorated to match the color of the material. At further installation a groove-thorn scheme with fastening on the crate is used.

Wooden houses are the most environmentally friendly and original buildings. In this regard, when buying or building their own home, many people prefer wooden buildings. Experienced builders say: in order for the house to natural materials pleased its residents for many years, it must be sheathed from the outside. What material is better to sheathe wooden walls?

Why sheathe a wooden house with something outside?

A new wooden building always looks solid and attractive, so there are doubts about the need to finish it from the outside. However, wood is a material exposed to many negative factors: moisture, high and low temperatures, direct sunlight. From dampness, it begins to rot, insects start up in wooden structures, the tree cracks, cracks, and burns out.

  • Insulates housing. Finishing the outer walls creates an additional heat-insulating layer.
  • Prevents the accumulation of dampness in the living room. With the right selection of material and compliance with the technology, the cladding does not allow moisture to pass through the walls and does not prevent it from leaving the building.
  • Stops building destruction. Some types of sheathing reinforce old houses and extend their lifespan.
  • Enhances the look of your home. Facing refreshes the building and makes it more modern.
  • Creates additional sound insulation.
  • Protects a wooden structure from fire. Most materials for covering the exterior of the house are treated with special flame retardants or made from non-combustible materials.

Types of exterior decoration of wooden houses: pros and cons

Modern materials for cladding houses allow not only to protect and update the building, but also to decorate the facade of the building. However, when choosing suitable option finishes, it must be borne in mind that different types of sheathing have both advantages and disadvantages. Consider the most popular materials for the exterior of wooden houses.

Natural wood materials

Natural wood attracts consumers with environmental friendliness. Most requested materials:

  • Imitation of a bar. It is a prefabricated flat bar with a smooth surface. On the sides there are protrusions and grooves for a strong grip. Notches are made on the inside, allowing you to mount the structure on a special frame.
  • Block house. Made in the form of boards with a semicircular surface. It connects according to the "thorn-groove" principle. More durable than timber. For its manufacture, coniferous trees are most often used.
  • Planken. It has the form of boards, beveled or rounded at the edges. Mounted with special fasteners.
  • Planed board. Much cheaper than previous versions of natural cladding.

Material advantages:

  • are made from various kinds wood;
  • do not create a significant weighting of the foundation;
  • non-toxic;
  • easy to install;
  • keep heat in the house and do not interfere with ventilation;
  • provide additional sound insulation;
  • resistant to mechanical damage.

However, wood cladding has a number of disadvantages:

  • easily ignites without additional processing;
  • when exposed to moisture becomes damp;
  • insufficient quality material has natural flaws;
  • additional structures are required for installation;
  • the tree is exposed to insects;
  • upholstery requires annual maintenance.

Siding: wood, vinyl, metal

Siding is long plates of various materials that are tightly fastened with a special profile. Each element has holes for fasteners and latches that link the plates together. In the decoration of houses, several types of siding are used: vinyl, metal, wood. The table shows their brief description:

Type of skinDescriptionGeneral benefits of sidingPositive sidesGeneral cons of sidingNegative sides
VinylMade from PVC
  • does not create a load on the foundation of the house;
  • easy to mount;
  • not subject to rotting, insects
  • low cost;
  • rests on a conventional rack frame
  • does not release moisture from the building;
  • additional structures are required for fixing;
  • fades in direct sunlight;
  • does not insulate the structure;
  • poor sound insulation
becomes brittle at sub-zero temperatures
MetalGalvanized steel or aluminum stripsdoes not lose its characteristics at low temperatureseasily deformed under mechanical stress
WoodyBoards made of pressed wood fibers bonded with cement
  • panels can be painted in different colors;
  • attractive appearance
Requires a reinforced frame

Clinker thermal panel

Clinker thermal panels consist of two parts - insulation and clinker tiles, fastened with special glue. The panels are fastened together with grooves and ridges. The material has many positive qualities:

  • simultaneously decorates and insulates the building;
  • easy to mount;
  • does not weigh down the structure;
  • vapor-permeable, which prevents the accumulation of moisture on wooden walls;
  • does not fade in the sun;
  • retains its qualities for more than 40 years;
  • resistant to fungi and bacteria;
  • not subject to mechanical damage;
  • fire resistant;
  • does not let in external noise.

The main disadvantages of the clinker thermal panel are the high cost and the need for additional grouting. For grouting, special building mixtures are used.

Brick facing

Facing brick is an affordable and easy-to-use material. Facing advantages:

  • strengthens the walls of the old house;
  • externally corrects buildings built in violation of the rules of architectural geometry;
  • creates thermal insulation;
  • does not pass or absorb moisture;
  • resistant to temperature extremes;
  • creates good sound insulation;
  • for a long time does not require additional care;
  • incombustible.

However, brickwork creates a large load on the foundation of the building. Before carrying out work, you need to calculate whether the base of the house can withstand the weight of the sheathing.

profiled sheet

Profiled sheet is an inexpensive and easy-to-use material. It is made from galvanized steel. For house cladding, special decorative profiled sheets are used. Material advantages:

  • high installation speed;
  • resistance to temperature extremes;
  • fire resistance;
  • ease of care.

However, the profiled sheet also has a number of disadvantages:

  • does not insulate the house;
  • does not release moisture, so it is necessary to leave a ventilated space between the walls and the sheathing;
  • bends under mechanical action and does not take its former shape;
  • Doesn't block outside noise.

Lining wooden and plastic

Lining is a cheap facing material that can transform the facade of a wooden structure. On the modern market, lining is presented in two types - wooden and plastic. Wooden material has all the advantages of natural sheathing:

  • vapor permeability;
  • thermal insulation;
  • environmental friendliness;
  • sound insulation and soundproofing;
  • strength.

However, in order to wooden lining served for a long time, it must be treated with substances that repel insects and increase moisture resistance. To enhance the fire resistance, the application of fire retardants will be required. Also lining requires painting and varnishing. Some manufacturers sell already processed material, but this increases its cost.

Plastic cladding does not attract insects and does not rot. It's lightweight, so you don't have to worry about being overweight. bearing walls. It is easy to care for it, there is no need for additional processing. However, plastic does not retain heat and does not provide sound insulation and vapor permeability. In case of fire, the material does not burn, but emits toxic fumes.

Finishing the outer corners and decorating the facade

For finishing the outer corners, a material similar to the entire skin is used. You need to think about how the corners of the house will look at the stage of choosing the cladding, since the right material will decorate the entire facade.

The construction market offers many additional structures to close the corners. The design of the corners is performed at the final stage of facing the house. wood flooring issued vertical bars, which are attached to the profile with an overlap and interlock according to the "thorn-groove" principle. Similarly, the corners of the trim from the lining are closed.

Siding cladding also has special corner strips attached to the crate. The clinker panel is sold in a set with corner elements. As you can see in the photo, they are tightly attached to other structures due to the grooves and create the effect of integrity.

In order to decorate the facade, you can finish the corners with a material that differs in shade from the walls. The difference in colors will give the house extra neatness and decor. color accent can also be done on window trim. Finishing window openings should match the color of the corners of the building.

What to choose?

What is the best exterior finish for your home? The answer depends on many factors:

  • financial opportunities. Lining, profiled sheet and siding will cost relatively cheaply.
  • plating purposes. If the cladding is needed to radically change the appearance of the facade, a material is used that is significantly different from wood. To prevent the destruction of the building, brick is ideal.
  • The need for wall insulation. The use of thermal panels will save the owner from additional costs for thermal insulation.
  • Features of the building. For houses with rich architecture, it is impossible to use a profiled sheet outside. Buildings with a weak foundation will not stand if they are overlaid with bricks.
  • Desire to preserve the originality of the house. If the owner loves wooden buildings, he should revet the housing with natural materials.
  • House locations. It is better to sheathe a building next to a noisy road with soundproofing materials: block house, clinker thermal panels, clapboard.
  • Opportunities to care for the facade. Easy to maintain siding, brick, thermal panels, corrugated board.
